Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Does Mickey's Backyard BBQ get canceled in the event of inclement weather? We have reservations for our trip later in the month. I have a back-up ADR just in case.

Only if it's a major storm, It is held under a covered roof, great food, all you can eat, I actually liked it better than the Hoop-DE-DO, but that's just me.

Thanks! We had been there before so I knew about the covered area, but wasn't sure if it gets canceled for thunderstorms since it is still outside. It wasn't my favorite by DS picked it as his dinner choice. My DD picked Hoop Dee Do for her choice so I get to experience both on this vacation.

@mommytoemily - the BBQ is at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. I am not sure sure about the BBQ in Nov.

GET THERE EARLY!!! When we went in 2008, they were letting people into Mickey's Backyard BBQ at least 30 minutes before the start time on the reservation. So, you can get in early and have some drinks/food sooner.

All the seats are the same really. Unless it has changed since 2008, there's a band stand (country band) and a big dance floor in front of that. There's several tables all around that are like the ones we had in high school -- long tables with built in benches on wheels in rows. During the BBQ, people are always up and moving to get food, to get a drink, to go dance, etc.. Your "view" really doesn't matter.

There was someone who did rope tricks... all the children sat up by that. After that the band played and everyone could dance with the characters. Some of the characters roamed around for pictures (don't expect a lot of autographs, or any...) or they were just running from backstage to the dance floor. Dancing was mostly freestyle with a few of those group line dance things (that I never get right!).

Food was Ok..... nice that beer and wine was included for the adults, and all you can eat ice cream for the kids! Lots of dancing and fun. But nothing fancy... it's a BBQ.......

Where is the backyard BBQ and is it on in November?

It's at the wilderness campground compound, right next to the old river country water park, and in behind the Trail's End Restaurant and the hoop-de-do.
Yes, They run it in november but only on select days.
