Mickey's backyard BBQ

My husband and I are planning a trip to Disney in the Fall with our 3 year old son. I was wondering if the Mickey's BBQ is worth the 2 DS credits. I've gotten mixed reviews thus far. I'm sure the food isn't going to be fabulous but is it something that we will all enjoy? Also, will our son get to really see/interact with the characters (or is it going to be too crowded for that to happen)? Thanks!
