Mickey's Backyard BBQ....

Has anyone been to this? I don't hear about it too much here on the boards so I'm wondering if this is a dud or maybe they no longer even do it. DH and I lvoe BBQ types of foods but I cannot imagine using 2 TS credits for that type of food. Is the SHOW portion really worth it? (We'll have a 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 yr old with us....) What do they do during the show? Who's there besides Mickey? Anyone got pix??

We did it when we were there in March. My DD was 6 & DS was 2 1/2. It was OK. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale & Goofy dressed up in cowboy attire. They have a live band & there is dancing. The characters dance with the crowd also. The food was just so-so. We had ribs, BBQ chicken, hot dogs, & potato salad. Dessert was popsicles & Mickey Bars. I think it was 2 TS because it comes with beer & wine as choices for drinks. Would I do it again? Probably not.

We just did this a week ago. We opted to pay out of pocket for it rather than use our dinning credits. We had a great time with our two children 5 1/2 and 2 1/2. The food was exactly as it states. My husband liked the chicken and ribs. I liked the potato salad. The food was exactly what I expected for a BBQ. The show was fun for my children. They had lots of character interaction, watched a roper, and the "pre admittance area was entertaining with several children's games and activities as well as beer and wine forth the adults. I don't know that I would use two table service meals for this though. I'd prefer to stave off the cost of a signature restaraunt with the DDP.

I think kids in your age range would enjoy it. We did'nt think it was worth 2 TS credits. It was fun, but nothing we'd do again.

Inkkognito - Thank you so much for attaching the link to your review! I just sat and read it together with my DD11 and DD10. We will be heading the the Backyard BBQ in October , and your review was just what the girls needed to add this event to their "can't wait to do this" list. Great job!!

I really enjoyed reading your post on the Mickey's BYBBQ! Thanks for including that link and your detailed report. Sounds much more interesting now than I was thinking it would be.

QUESTION....how much time does it take to get from the Poly to there? It seems like the campgrounds are very spread out so once you get there (via boat or bus,etc) how far away is the place where this is held? We'll have 2 little ones (probably one in a stroller)...

Wow...thanks for sharing that great review. I agree, with the earlier post that stated there is not that much about this show on the boards. We are going in 3 weeks and I am really looking forward to the ribs and beer. My 4 year old had been talking about the bar b que for months as well. One last question, what time can you get into the waiting area? We will have our tickets already from the ASMU. Thanks again!

We did it in 2000 loved it and still talk about it. I would definately go back.
If like BBQ'S then I say do it.

This was one of our favorite events at our Grand Gathering 2 years ago. The character interaction was amazing. The kids didn't HAVE to sit at all. The food was typical barbecue food, which the men definitely enjoyed. It was just a good, fun time. We had kids from under 1 to 13 and adults of all ages. Fun, fun, fun!

If you take a boat across to the campground (might have to transfer at MK I think?), it's not a very far walk. The barbeque area is right by where the River Country water park used to be. It's in the vicinity of Hoop Dee Doo but closer to the dock.

I am so glad that I read this post....we have ressies for the BBQ and I was going to cancel them. We are taking my DD2 and I think she is going to LOVE IT! I can't believe I was going to cancel them....
