Hi everyone

I am currently reviewing where I want to book my ADR for my upcoming trip in September. I have about a month until they become available to book. I am traveling with my best friend who hasn't been to Disney in over 8 year and want to surprise her with a nice dinner show meal. I have narrowed it down to Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Hoop-dee-do revue for out food preferences and we both like the western theme/style.

In your opinion which would you say is the better choice?

My friend has had a tough few years and she has helped me through the years too and I want to show her how much I appreciate her.

Hoop dee doo no question!
It's a Disney must do in my opinion.
We've done it every year the last six years
The show is highly entertaining and the food is yummy
Guaranteed to have a blast

HDD for sure. You're guaranteed to come out of there singing.

I love Hoop De Doo. I've heard next to no praise for Backyard Barbeque. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Hands down... Hoop De Doo. We have been to Disney 7 times and have done it every time. Absolutely our favorite dinner show!!

We enjoyed HDDR,
and I haven't heard anyone talk about Mickey's Backyard in so long I forgot it was still around.

Years ago we went to Mickeys BBQ. It was fun. All you can drink beer may have contributed to that, though. It is also outside! It was very hot that day. And you sit on picnic tables that you share with the other guests. For a special event, I also would chose HDDR

Absolutely HDDR! It is a trip tradition for us. We never go, without going to HDDR. It is so much fun, the food is great and the show is awesome. For a show that rarely ever changes, each time we go always feels like the first time we are there. That is how much fun it is. We are going in September too and we book our ADR's on March 6th! We always do category 1, and the 6:15 show.

Another vote for HDDR. Mickey's BBQ is geared much more towards young kids than adults. The food at Hoop Dee Doo is much better as well.

HDDR all day. I went there as a child and love it just as much three decades later!

I've done HDD for years and love it. On my last trip I wanted to kick it off with something special so I booked MBYBBQ. It was just alright. The food is self-serve, sitting outside - it was nothing special, just picnic food. The entertainment was also just okay. I'm in no hurry to do this again and don't think it's worth the price or two dining credits.

Now HDD- the food may be basic fried chicken and ribs, but it is delicious! And the show is so much fun and has a progression to it - you want to watch from start to end and you are entertained throughout. With MBYBBQ, it's kinda disjointed, a series of musicians, rope trick guy, characters coming out to dance ...it's fun, but it can also just be something going on in the background. With HDD, you want to watch the entire show because it's hilarious, and the yummy food is a big bonus. Especially the strawberry shortcake and sangria!

Hoop, no question. Backyard BBQ is the most overpriced dining experience I've ever been to.

At Hoop, the food is better, the service is better, the entertainment is better, the venue is better. It's not even a debate to me.

The auto grat (18%) when literally all the staff did was seat me is enough to keep me away forever (and I put myself through college on tips waiting tables). We served ourselves, threw our own trash away, got our own drinks (including alcohol where they had the nerve to have a tip bucket out) and got our own dessert. That show needs an overhaul in the worst way.
