Mickey's Backyard BBQ for young children?

We're currently considering including Mickey's Backyard BBQ in our food itinerary for our next trip in mid April, with our DD5 and DS2. My understanding is that the character interaction/dancing is sort of a free-for-all once they make their appearances - does this mean that some children may not get to "dance" with the characters especially if the crowd sizes are large?

For those of you who have taken young children to this event, how did you and your children like the experience? TIA!

No replies? Yikes! We will be at the Poly same time as you next year, and I too was curious about Mickey's Backyard BBQ - is it on in April or just the summer months?

We've been to the Backyard BBQ. My kids are now 8, 6 and 4. We went when my youngest was probably 2 and she never left our side. My older two were apprehensive about leaving the table and going to dance with the characters, but eventually got into it. It was not easy to get pictures with the characters at all. The characters do not come to your table for pics. However, we did enjoy the entire show. My boys loved the rope tricks. And there was plenty of BBQ foods to choose from.
