MickeyAnne's PJ! NJ Wedding + DLR/DCL Honeymoon (GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW!!!!!)

3/10/2008 - Awesome DJ

We met with our "Disney Fanatic" DJ today. He was awesome! We got along so well with him and could not be more secure with our choice.

If you know anyone doing an NJ wedding - send them my way and I will hook them up with this company! I mean, they are completely awesome!

So at this point I have really don't most of the big stuff that I can at this point. I don't want to start the dress search just yet and I think I am too far out for flowers so I am just going to concentrate on the engagement party and little details of the wedding. I want to get my head around a theme or something relating to a theme so thats my goal.

On a very good note!!! I have officially won the Mickey and Minnie Wedding ear battle!! Mike was totally against them (his family is going to make fun of him thoroughly when they see him in it!) but tonight I earned them! I went to a beer pong tournament with him (I was the designated driver for him and our brothers). It was ridiculously long and basically dumb. I sat there waiting for him to lose so we could leave!! He looked at me mid party - thought I was trying to have a good time he could see I was way out of my element - so he looked at me and said "I am wearing the ears aren't I?" I said "oh yes you are my friend". So I officially have won that argument. There will be picture documentation of us in the ears !!! Yaya!

Well good night all!

Engagement invitations -
I didn't want to use my registry cards in the engagement invites (want to save them for the shower) so I came up with a little poem to include in invite envelope.

"Tonianne and Mike -
They are the perfect fit.
If you are looking for the perfect gift
You may want to look here to find it!

We are registered at Macy's and Target"

I printed this on glossy paper and cut it out with decorative scissors. My mom and I are going to mount them on yellow paper and tie a little ribbon to it so it doesn't get lost in the envelope.

The "perfect fit" part is going to tie in to the favors that I finally decided on for the party. When I get one done, I will post pics!

So excited about the yellow thing!!!! So I started playing on Davids Bridal's web site with styles that I already knew I wanted but putting yellow in. This is what I have come up with for choices for the bridesmaids (who are all italian and olived skin in case you are worried how they might look in yellow). I am not locked in to this of coarse but just thought I'd have some fun!!! Which do you all like?

PS - I added the sash because I want a sash of color on my dress so I thought that would coordinate well!

Thats crazy! I went to the 11:30 AM show though because we wanted to be home for dinner etc. I was engaged by 10:30 AM. It would be so cool if I saw you though!

3/14/07 -- A theme.

So I have decided after talking to DF that the theme of my wedding is going to be Fairy Tales. I love it! And its my way of doing something a little bit Disney on my day. (PS I have also decided to include hidden Mickey's on my dress and vale as some of you have done)

My engagement party slogan is "the perfect fit" to go along with glass slipper decorations.

My bridal shower (according to my mom) will be a princess like theme.

And my wedding's slogan will be "happily ever after". I was reading a magazine yesterday and on a three tiered cake the top said "happily", middle said "ever" and the bottom said, you guess it! "after". (I will try to scan the pic in for everyone) I love the idea and am definitely doing it!

I am now way ahead of myself and thinking of favors for the wedding. I am kinds thinking of foregoing them all together and making a donation to the make a wish foundation. I don't know yet though.

Thats where I am at today!

3/7/07 - 2:00AM It hits me...

Okay so this starts off on a low note but it gets better I promise.
In April of 2004, my older sister, Cheryl, passed away due to complications from a lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. It was shocking and sudden and as you can imagine, it was so painful to go through. Cheryl is actually the person who made me the Disney lover that I am. Since she passed, I have always wondered how I would do happy things with out her - it just wouldn't be the same. So I have resided to include her in things somehow or another even though she can't actually be beside me.

I wanted to find ways to include her in my big day without it being blatent and disruptive to the mood of the day. So I decided that I will use some of her Disney objects as decorations at the reception etc. But I still felt a hole in my bridal party without her. But last night as I was laying in bed thinking of this, I was somehow reminded that everyone used to call Cheryl "Sunshine" (hence my sig). THATS ITTT!!!! My eyes opened and I sat up with tears in my eye!

Why you ask?

YELLOW! :hyper:

My brides maids are going to wear yellow! No not canary yellow but a nice pale yellow! I told Mike this morning and he loved the idea. I called my bridal party and they all cried as well (they are all her/my cousins). My parents were thrilled and I am so at peace with the decision! I like the subtlty of the notion!!! :goodvibes

So she will be there. Not in body but surely in spirit. She will bring sunshine to my day.

Now to find pretty dresses for the maids!!!

YAY!

That is such a special and thoughtful way to remember her. Thank you for sharing your plans with us. Yellow is such a beautiful color!

Well here are some pictures of things I will be using on my wedding day...Well DF is away until Sunday so I can't purchase until he at least sees them but I will order them all asap! TFL!

These are my serving utensils and toasting flutes. They are all from the wedding promises collection from Lenox. I LOVE the flutes so I figured the matching set was a good plan.

This is the ring bearer pillow that I want to use. My wedding day will be focused on that saying (the whole process is fairy tales). I will have to get 2 because my two cousins are ring bearers and I think I will be tieing fake rings onto them for safety sake! :lmao:

The last is my unity candle. I like that it matches the pillow (I am all about things that match)

3/20/07 - A Dress...

Well, I was a little nervous to start shopping for a dress so early but the mood has struck me and I have my eye on a beautiful gown so I have made an appointment to go to my local Bridal Salon to try on dresses this Saturday!!! I am so excited - I mean totally giddy.

I am going to go with My mom and my MOH/BF. DF's mom is a mother of 4 boys and won't get to do the whole dress thing with anyone so I thought that maybe I would invite her along as well, but I don't know yet. I think that I would be a bit uncomfortable with her there the first time I go. We are not very close. Do you all think that it would be okay to hold off until I go again to try on dresses or do you think I am better off bringing her along this time?

Thanks as always!

There is a story to be told but the long and short of it is that today, I bought my dress... Its beautiful and I love the way I look in it. It is Maggie Sotterro. Pics to follow...

ooooh i love your dress! so is it actually a two-piece or will it be all in one? i love the detailing on the top and the pickup skirt. it looks so elegant!

I LOVE the skirt-- thats how mine was. And I love the detailing at the top thats so beautiful!!

Well, here is the story.
I went to the bridal store today to try on a dress that I fell in love with online. Unfortunately, they did not have the exact dress so we started to pull out similar styles. My MOH and I looked briefly at a pink one but quicky passed it, because pink really doesn't grab my attention.
So I tried on several other dresses. The first one was really nice on me, but I really didn't love the dress itself, the secone - crap, the third - not good, fourth - getting closer. The fifth dress was beautiful and my mom and MOH loved it on me but I just wasn't thinking "this is it". So I was basically ready to get going and to seek out the online dress. Then some magic came my way. A second sales person saw that I was not likeing what I had on and came over to speak to me about what I had in mind. I showed her the picture and within 30 seconds she came over with the same pink dress that I had passed in the beginning. She said "don't look at it and see pink, just look at the dress". So I went to the dressing room to put it on. ***Someone asked if it is two pieces - yes it is.*** As soon as I put the skirt on I felt good - really good. Then the top. She is lacing it up on me and I say to her "its not even on right yet and I love it". I walked out and looked in the mirror and KNEW. Everything about it was perfect - and I was no longer thinking about the online dress.
I felt like a princess, a skinny princess, which is rare for me. So here I am 14 months away from my day and a DRESS not a sales person, convinced me to buy. Thats exactly what I wanted to have happen. I am just so happy with my choice. I will be going back with my MIL to get measured etc. so that she can feel part of the process as well. YAY!

So seeing as I could not take pics in the store, I searched on line until I found the above pics but better yet, I found these. This is ithe EXACT dress that I will be wearing on my wedding day and I could not be happier about it!

Thanks for all the compliments!

Gotta love this board - It is so nice to come on to post new thoughts and pics and know that you have so many supportive and kind people to make you feel good! Thanks for all the compliments on the dress. I just LOVE it! The feeling I had when I tried on the sample dress that wasn't even my size was AMAZING - now I can not wait until the real thing comes in and I can slip into it. I can imagine DF at the end of the aisle now - it brings a tear to my eye.

Isn't being engaged just so exciting????

I love your dress. The bodice is beautiful!!!
