I received a survey postcard after a recent stay at Fort Wilderness. I was surprised (pleasantly) to see the old logo of Fort Wilderness with Mickey and his trusty gun. When I went online to fill out the survey, the page there also had that same logo. I thought they had discontinued using this in order to be p c or some nonsense.

They replaced the old sign at the front entrance and it has no Gun, but the trash cans at FW still have the old Mickey with a gun. I believe there are other signs with a gun. They still sell Guns at FW and now they have Police Officers working there who carry Guns, so I guess guns are still in style.

I think they changed the logo more to make all the resort logos not have characters in them. With all the origional props from Davey Crockett they have down at Crockett's Tavern, I'm glad they've kept the pictures with Mickey in the Fess Parker gear :teeth:

If you have a look at the bolo ties on the cast members at checkin, you'll see Mickey and his musket there too.

Last time we were there (mid-July), the sign over the dock with the musket logo had been removed, and no replacement had gone up. :confused3

I am glad that they have not discontinued that great logo. It's just that I had heard talk that it was being phased out due to concerns over the gun, especially after 9/11.

I recently bought a Ft. Wilderness hoodie at the Disney outlet by St. Augustine. The front has Ft. Wilderness's logo. On the back is what I thought was Mickey with the musket, but DS pointed out to me that he is actually holding a stick:guilty: .

I still love my hoodie and can't wait to take it to Ft.W. but it does take away some of the :goodvibes feeling to know that a bunch of PC jerks caused this change.( I was SO excited when I found it, not only was it Ft.W & Mickey, hoodies remind me of going camping in the mountains with my grandparents when I was little, waking up early with just my grandfather and me to watch the sunrise, it was always cold so my Pappaw would wrap me up in an old hoodie that smelled of wood fires past and went down to my knees:goodvibes I miss you Pappaw:sad1: )

Walt would NEVER have stood for it! And from what I hear the change was in the wind long before 911, Disney was getting alot of complaints from those types of moms who won't let there kids have toy guns:rolleyes: . Gee, lets not teach our kids personal responsibility, lets teach our kids that evil OBJECTS cause bad things to happen, not people who make bad choices  :rotfl: :lmao: .

Maybe if the terrorists knew that Mickey was well armed they would think twice about messing with him ! :thumbsup2
