Hi, when we went to WDW last time my daughter really wanted some Mickey waffles. I'd read that if you ask they can usually make you some egg free waffles but when I asked in the food hall of PO Riverside the servers just said the regular ones had no egg.

The servers' english was very poor and I was worried that she meant 'no, the waffles don't come with eggs on the side' rather than 'no, the waffles have no egg in them' so I didn't let my daughter have them in case a reaction ruined our holiday.

Does anyone know whether the standard Mickey waffles are egg free? Do I need to ask for special ones? If so, what do you do if the server you are speaking to appears to not understand your request?

Just ask to speak to a chef. Tell the server you have an allergy. They'll make your daughter social allergen waffles. If the server doesn't understand find one who does. My experience with the Allergy waffles has been excellent except for once, when they were like lead. I'm nit sure what the chef did to ruin them but they're usually amazing.

When we were in table service restaurant we never had any problem, the chef always came out to speak to us, but at the PO Riverside food hall there didn't seem to be a chef about, I did ask.
I'll ask again and try to speak to a chef, failing that I guess I could ask at the front desk what the best thing to do is?

At POR they definitely have a chef that you can speak with. When dealing with an allergy, ALWAYS insist on speaking with a chef or manager (CS in parks will be a manager). If the CM doesn't seem to understand or won't get somebody for you, ask for their manager.

I don't know if the regular waffles have eggs or not. I do know that anywhere that makes Mickey waffles can also make egg free ones (they'll likely be gluten, milk and soy free as well as they only have one set of allergy waffle presses).

I'm pretty sure the regular waffles have egg in them, as they always make my DS a "special" waffle, which as the poster above stated, is also gluten free (and I'm sure free of many other allergens). DS is allergic to eggs and nuts. --Katie
