I'm reading on another board that the statues will be leaving on February 24th. I sure hope this is a mistake.

It can't be! We'll be there the last week of April and I'm all ready to take pictures. I've shown my grandaughter the statues on line and she's all excited to see them in person.

I've looked at a couple of different places on the Disney website and a few say they are leaving in February and a few say end of April.

I'm so sad. Hopefully it is a mistake.

Can anyone from Disneyworld confirm this? Please don't make me have to drive to Philadelphia to see the statues!!!

Please tell me this is not true.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's true. :( The Mickey statues will be leaving WDW on February 24. Due to another opportunity (not sure what that is), they will be leaving sooner than originally scheduled. I work for WDW and it was just announced a few days ago officially. Hopefully you can see them when they go on tour of the US!!!

Here is some info about them I found here on the DIS.

The little mouse that came to life in Steamboat Willie on 11/18/28 has a busy time ahead of him. His statues will be at Walt Disney World through April of 2004. From there, they begin a 6-month coast-to-coast tour sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company. The tentative schedule includes stops in Chicago, Philadelphia, Portland OR, Boston, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, Washington, Atlanta and Kansas City, and will reach Disneyland in the Fall of 2004.

If you fall in love with a particular version, don’t dismay. In Spring 2005, Sotheby’s in New York will be auctioning off these amazing statues with the proceeds going to each artist’s favorite children’s charity.

WOW- I was there last week and it was stated the statues were there until the end of APril.

I just went to look again and double check.... Originally they were supposed to stay until April--the official announcement just came TODAY (Feb 20) stating that they will leave on Feb. 24. Hope this clears everything up.

I'm not from Walt Disney World but,
you'll only have to drive to Washington D.C.

I don't work there, but I found this on their website.

"Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations" statues unveiled at Walt Disney World. The statues will remain on display at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom until the end of February 2004.

I am really upset by this, we were really looking forward to seeing them in April. I wonder where they are going...

They were definetly suppose to be until April as I was making a solo trip to see them. I just returned yeterday and the check-in brochure has a big thing about them and says Feb 24. I did confirm this with management as I was disappointed.

Also, my understanding is they are being divided for the tour (ie there are 5 cities listed for each set of dates.) One CM told me that means 15 statue per city but I can't get confirmation

We went in Jan. and saw them. We went to the MK 3 times and each time I was so excited to get in, I kept telling myself I'll take pictures when we leave. I realized on the way home I never took one picture of any of the statues.

I went to that web site and decided to look at the page that showed all the Mickey's:

All the Mickeys

We were at WDW in January and my kids loved the Mickey statues and looked at them everyday when we were walking into the Magic Kingdom. My younger daughter picked Chocolate Mouse as her favourite. It's not there! I counted the ones on that page and there are 75. There is at least one statue that I'm pretty sure I didn't see before - Funny Bones.

Are there really more than 75? Are there more missing Mickeys?

Funny, I don't see that one on the WDWinfo page either. I don't know how to post it here, but I have the photo and would be happy to email you a jpeg. Just email or PM with your email.

I have a picture of the Chocolate Mouse, but thanks muchly anyway.

I just thought it was really weird that they had 75 Mickeys without it.

We arrive on 2/24, but are planning on MK for 2/25 for DS's birthday, I guess we'll miss them:(

Yes, sorry to say, The last day to view the statues at the Walt Disney World Resort will be Feb. 24th.

We just arrived home and yes the statues are gone.

We saw them last Sunday, 2/22 and on Tuesday, 2/24, but it was raining so we didn't take a picture. We went for EMH on Thursday planning to take a picture and all were gone.

I asked a CM at the front gate where they were. He said I was the first person to ask (!!) and was told that they were packed up after the park closed on Tuesday, 2/24, and were being brought to the Disney shareholder meeting next week in Philadelphia.

I smiled and joked a little saying, "I guess they needed a little Disney magic for the meeting!"

The CM's face dropped and he was very serious. He just shook his head and turned away......I guess they are told not to discuss the Eisner thing with guests!

Anyway, here's the schedule from the brochures available on the park (and still at the hotel's front desk even after the statues were removed!)

May 18-July 20
Atlanta, CHicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Portland

August 17 - Oct. 21
Denver, Houston, Dallas, Minneapolis, Kansas City

Fall 2004
on display at Disneyland Resort

Our trip was great...will report info later.

Just remember all 75 statues won't be together again until they are at Disneyland. There will be 15 in each city at a time.

For anyoen in driving range of Philly, I was told all 75 will be in an "open" area of the Convention Center and anyone can visit on Wednesday.

Wish I could figure out how to sneak down!
