We got up early on sea day to enjoy to Mickey pool before it got too crowded. My daughter who is potty trained was going back and forth between the two ears and noticed something in the wading pool. The one that spills over into the larger area of the pool. She kept saying Mommy look! What is that? When we looked, we saw that someone had left evidence of using the bathroom in the pool. We all got out of the pool, about that time the pool attendant saw it and had everyone get out of the pool. He then roped it off, drained it and had it cleaned. He said it would take about 2 hours and then everyone could get back in. So PLEASE make sure your non-potty trained child stays in the appropriate pool area. It looked like the children were enjoying the designated pool. It was wet, not too deep, and drained.

Gosh, that's just disgusting. Sometimes I really can't understand what people are thinking about. I don't mean to preach, it just grosses me out.

It happens in the Goofy and Adult pools too. Dont forget you can have "Depends" users swimming...

Just proof that anyone can have a baby? Come on folks, if you're slamming down that kind of money on a cruise don't you have the brains and responsibility to report your child having an 'accident' in the pool? It's just wrong. I'm sure it's not just a DCL problem. We go to Six Flags often and I've just adjusted to the 'what ifs'. All you can do is watch & keep your own safe (and clean!).

There is an article in this (July 12) Sunday's Parade magazine about kids and pools and keeping them safe from infections!
I just can't believe that folks are so inconsiderate that they think it is okay to let their kids relieve themselves in a pool! I bet if those same kids came down with a bad case of diarrhea from a pool they would change their practice!

On our recent cruise, an adult decided to toss his cookies in the adult pool.

If you can't hold your beer, stay out of the water.

I am never going to be able to think of my relaxing afternoons at quiet cove in quite the same way ........... that is so gross.....:(

I think a lot of people have the mentality that they pay X amount of money and can do whatever they want. They don't have to follow the rules b/c the rules don't have to apply to them. Saw several peopl with non-potty trained children try puttin those children in the other parts of the pool. These children are small and the children couldn't say no. One of these same parents went to the adult only pool during the cruise and had to be told to leave. He wasn't pleased either times. Then today at Castaway Cay some parents with a very young child set up camp at Serenity Bay, the adult only beach. The child tried making a fuss, but the parents knew. They told the child that she needed to be quiet...they were also asked to leave.

This happens much more often than you think, CM's call it a "Code Pooh". I feel sorry for the CM's out there cleaning/scrubbing the pool in the bright yellow haz-mat suits in the middle of the day. Sun, heat and humidity in those things must be unbearable.

Okay, Randy, I'm curious since I was there that afternoon. Did anyone see this person throw up? We were there for quite a while before the CM showed up, left, and then came back to tell everyone to get out of the pool. Of all the people sitting around dh and me, no one saw anything.

I don't think there are many parents out there "letting" their kids go potty in the pool. These are accidents, even potty trained children can have them, they ARE children. It is highly possible the kids do not even know they have done it when being in all that water. Therefore, it is possible that the parents do not notice until later when changing them. Many of you may be fortunate enough to not have kids who have ever done this, or not have kids at all, but no need to be so judgemental. Pools are closed to other reasons as well such as vomit and blood.

By the way, no, my kids have never done this, but I don't rule out any possiblities when it comes to children.

Very good points, Zaxmom. It was really frustrating with our two little ones only being able to have fun in a little mickey ear - while all the other kids were having fun in the big pools. We did our best to keep them in the designated ear for them, but it was more trouble than it was worth to let them swim in that little ear. They were miserable being contained there.

I understand the reason for it, but isn't that what they make swim diapers for? Most children are having too much fun to poop - and from my experience with children, most kids don't poop in the middle of the day, it's the morning or evening.

Oh well. There will always be this debate. I just can't wait till mine are 3 and potty trained... at least then they'll enjoy the kids club activities AND the big kids pool!

Sherri :)

zaxmom- well said!::yes::
I don't think parents are TELLING their kids to go potty in the pool!!! Accidents happen! Yes, it's a bad deal for everyone but I guess all kids aren't PERFECT!
Just because a kid is potty trained does not mean they don't have accidents!

There are some really good points made by Zaxmom and pigletandpooh3. I feel that if this regulation is a dept of health regulation than why isn't it enforced in WDW water parks. Non potty trained kids are allowed to swim there. They are also allowed to swim at hotels and YMCA's. I think this is why so many people have issues with this when they get on the cruise. It just isn't something they expect or they feel that if the child has on a swim diaper than they should be allowed to swim. I personally had a 1 1/2 yo that was not at all entertained by the mickey ear fountain and it was a complete tantrum and struggle to keep her in that ear. I would tell anyone after my experience who has a child who is not potty trained that is use to swimming to wait until they are potty trained so that you can enjoy the pool.

What about kids who can NOT be potty trained!?
There are kids with physical problems that will never be 'potty trained'! Do they just have to sit and watch?

Do you honestly believe that the people were aware that their kids were going? I cannot imagine someone would give their child permission to go in the pool Like "Yeah honey it is ok just poo in the pool?" It was probably an accident and kids have those so what are you going to do forbid children from swimming? And trust me when I say that plenty of adults have accidents too. Gross as this may be it is a risk of using a public pool.

I should have read ahead LOL I totally agree. I doubt there are people actually knowingly allowing their kids to go in the pool.
