Mickey, Minions & more. 2 week holiday. Updated 9/14 - FINAL THOUGHTS

I would love to see the Minion ride! We LOVE Despicable me! It even comes on the Disney channel! I thought that was odd the first time that I saw it on there! We need to see the second one- haven't done that yet. We play a game on the iPad called Minion Rush. Totally addictive. If you don't have it- well, don't do it!!! hahaha

:faint: I find them so funny. Rent Despicable Me. It is funny and so is the sequel.
Kathy, you would LOVE the movies :goodvibes

I forgot to mention the dancing. that was funny but we walked by and went looking at the goods.
:thumbsup2
Yeah, so did my crew, I was disco-ing and walking :lmao:

Glad you're here.

After our fun time with the Minions we decided to walk. Along the way we saw Woody and a friend (no clue her name).

As you can see here it was not crowded.

Too bad these are not real.

Here is Mel’s. We were going to eat here but we might have changed our minds. That will be revealed later on.

Some of the cars outside of the diner.

Then we strolled along some more. Some pics along the way.

This looks so pretty that I would live here. LOL

No we didn’t want any of Woody’s pizza.

Then we passed Spongebob Squarepants and yes that is him there in the pic and not a picture or anything. They were asking people to go in and have a photo done with him but we passed.

Then we reached our next destination.

We had a few minute wait then the door opened and we walked through the queue which I loved. It smelled like a pine forest and it was so fun to see. I think it is close to 20 years since I rode it last.

There really was not a wait for it and soon we were on our bicycle. We had front row and I forgot how fun the ride was and cute. First you escape from the humans and then you are on E.T.’s planet. Here are a few bad pics.

At the end when you hear your name but they were so quick and so jumbled together.

Then our adventure with E.T. was over. I do like the ride as it brings back memories and it is a cute little ride.
After this we decided to hit another ride.

Up next,

D’oh!

I love that you got to meet Scooby Doo!

The Minion ride must be new since the last time I was there (which was about 5 1/2 years ago, so I'm not surprised). I still have to see the second movie.

The banana hats are cute! I don't remember that whole Hollywood section of Universal.

:)

Yeah. It opened within the last 2 years I think.

This is the Universal side and not the Islands of Adventure side. They are 2 separate parks.

Yeah, we chose to only go to IOA this last trip. I bought the one park pass since all we really really wanted to do was the Harry Potter stuff. In a couple years we'll go back and do both parks again.

I am late to the party! My Dis time has been greatly curtailed due to work and hadn't realized you had started your TR!

Do you really like Wal Mart? I really hate it; Mostly because it's all we have in Oklahoma! It was nice that you got to see family and friends and the start of your trip.

I have never been to Universal or IOA. I think I would like to but isn't a priority at this time. Maybe, after my kids read Harry Potter and can appreciate those attractions! How was the interaction with the Universal characters? Betty Boop seemed kind of bland in the photo's. But maybe they just didn't capture the moment?

Great start. Looking forward to reading the rest!

I believe the girl Woodpecker iS winnie, his girlfriend :goodvibes

That section of the park looked dead

Looks like a lot of great areas to photograph.

Love the E.T. Ride. Have not been on it since 2000. Really need to get back there one of these days :goodvibes

Wow! That part of the park REALLY is empty! :scared1:

We have not been since the Simpson addition (or Potter land ;)) but I guess Tom would enjoy the Simpsons part. I would much rather go on that ET ride again, but unfortunately UO is not part of our plans for the next two years.

Who knew you could have so much fun at US?? Those hats and those characters! I have to say that US is earning my respect. I have never been to the Orlando one and it's been about 6 years since we've been to the LA version. That Hollywood Blvd looks like a movie set it is so perfectly done and deserted. I'm enjoying this part of your trip. :)

Wow you were really lucky with how quiet the park was and I love your photos, especially the one with the banana hats :rotfl:

I do love Walmart. I hate Target. It was great to see them.
It is a fun trip for us but we like to change things up. Once they read Harry then you will have to go. The interaction was very good, especially with Shaggy.

That is good to know. I could not remember. I guess I could have googled it. :rotfl2:
It was very slow there. The longest line was for Transformers.
It is a great place to photograph.
it was fun to ride it even after all of these years.

it was really empty. We picked a good day.
We said we will do it every 2- 3 years. It is fun to see it and gives you a break from Disney.

I did. That is why we went back. :lmao: It is a great park. I like the rides there because they are more thrilling.
I haven't been to Hollywood in almost 20 years now. 2015 will change that.
:thumbsup2

We were lucky. I followed someones tour plans but I forget who.
Thanks

Hi, I'm Cara and I'm joining in for the first time. I've been on the Dis for awhile, but mainly have been a lurker. I know, I know. I'm coming out of hiding. LOL. I going to actually be attempting a Trip Report for the first time with our next trip. We'll be going in March for a whole week. I'm enjoying your report so far and you actually were about an hour north of me when you visited your friend in Jupiter. We haven't been to Universal in years. I can honestly say that the only reason for us to go would be to see the Harry Potter area. I don't think there is to much for my 3 year old at either of the parks. I'm looking forward to the rest of your trip report.

Yes we were. Probably closer in Deerfield Beach when we went there.
Not much for a 3 year old at US to do I feel.
Let me know when you start it and I will join in.
Thank you.

Wow!! You must have been the first people at Universal that day!! :rotfl:
:rotfl2: we were actually late. I wanted to be there for opening but we ran late.

I agree - the park looks really empty. Great pictures. Some really pretty scenery.

I really like the ET ride. It's cool in there, pedaling through the dark.

I honestly can't wait to tour universal next October. It's been much too long.
