Hi-
Been to WDW bunches, LOVE it, never to Universal. Since WWoHP has come to Universal we would like to see it during our trip next June. What's the best way to do this? The only thing we want to see is the Harry Potter part. We are thinking of going for a week. We will be traveling with a first time family of 3, they are leaving the planning totally to us.
Thanks-

Universal is actually two theme parks --- Islands of Adventure, where Harry Potter is, and Universal Studios. Its connected by the Citywalk area and its resorts.

I would stay at Universal and enjoy their resorts and theme parks for a couple of days.

You can also buy a ticket that includes bus transportation from a WDW hotel and Islands of Adventure.

here's what we did... we were at wdw for 11 days, and somewhere in the middle we booked a universal resort for one night without checking out of our disney resort... we arrived at the Uresort first thing in the morning and checked in and immediately hit the park... we took a mid-day nap in our room, and went back the park using our room key for FOTL for every ride we could! we got back to our rooms after the park closed and slept... the next day we went back to wdw and back to our room...

all of this was done before WWoHP existed... but even then, the FOTL passes were well worth it!

The best way to do it is to stay onsite to get FOTL for the rides and spend 2-3 days at the parks.I don't exactly understand why you would only want to do the Harry Potter area as it's essentially just a small part of IOA,there's a lot more to see in IOA as well as at USF if you've never been there before.

Thanks-I should say that we are not amusement park people, and have no desire to spend any time at all at Universal. None of us like rollercoasters, thrill rides, etc. We do enjoy WDW, and the kids are dying to see WWoHP. So, since HP is at IOA and if we want to see it, I was just wondering what the best plan would be. I don't know if I should book rooms at RHR (it looks cool) for a night and spend 1 day at IOA, or just drive up from WDW for a day. We won't be going till next June, so maybe some (LOL) of the novelty will have worn off....who am I kidding-and I won't need the front of the line thing or early entry or whatever they call it. What do you think?

just a reminder... most of the "main" attractions and things that make WWoHP what it is are not FOTL pass acceptable, so if that is truly all you plan to do, staying at RPR is a waste of money (and time checking in/out)... just go at rope drop, visit and go back to WDW...

Universal and Islands of Adventure are not just 'amusement parks' and they have so much more than thrill rides. The themeing in second to none! The parks truly are fantastic and I think it would be such a waste to just see Harry Potter. Go to the parks with an open mind and you may be surprised. Just because you love Disney doesn't mean you can't enjoy anywhere else.

ITA! We are not amusement park people either. We love Universal. The themeing is just as good as Disney, and better in some areas. A lot of the rides are very tame. Suess Landing is my favorite area, and I can go on the rides there. Some areas like the marvel area we mostly just walk through, but its still fun to look at everything. (you won't get me on the hulk roller coaster.) They have some great shows too. At the very least plan to spend a full day at IOA.

What we do is stay at Disney and just drive to universal. We usually go to Universal 2 days, and we spend 1 day in Universal and 1 day in IOA. We have never got the FOL pass. You can buy it even if you aren't staying onsite. Next time we are going 3 days because we never feel like 2 is enough and now they have the Harry Potter exhibit.
