I read somewhere that you could get a plain mickey head like this at Hobby Lobby. I haven't seen it. Anyone else find one? TIA.

My office is across the street from a Hobby Lobby, MotherRunner. I'll go check at lunchtime tomorrow.

Really ?? Now someone tells me that. I made my own and then cut it out.

We was in Hobby Lobby last Tuesday, and didn't see any Mickey Heads like that, maybe we just didn't see it. They usually have a lot of Disney stuff over by all the "garage tins" and I always look. We did pick up a little picture of Mickey to hang in the camper. I'll tell my wife to look next time she's there.

Well back from Hobby Lobby.

They do have some tin signs of cartoon and movie characters. They did not have the Mickey head pictured in post #1 nor is it listed on their website.

They did have 12" tall Mickeys and Minnies which are listed on the website. Here is Mickey:

The trip was not wasted, though. I did get a tin sign of Snoopy and Woodstock with Snoopy as "Joe Cool" as a birthday gift for my brother (Joe) next time around.

So sorry, MotherRunner, I struck out.

Did you use plywood or MDF? I was thinking about using MDF because the surface is nicer (usually)

Paul, I used furniture grade plywood. It was scrap that I had from another project. I figured it would be hard to get some lime green stain though. So yea it was a more expensive piece of wood, but just happened to be something laying around here.

I have similar scrap of MDF that I think I want to try. I figure if it doesn't work.... Oh well. it was left over anyway, right? Hopefully I will get to it by this weekend. Will keep you updated.
