hello ladies. i have a quick question and i'm really hoping you guys can help me out with this. my cousin and his fiancee are getting married in April (not at disney, but are having a Disneymoon!!). His fiancee said this weekend that she wants to have mickey ears for a cake topper, just the ears, but can't find them anywhere. so i immediately thought to ask you guys if anyone has any ideas where to find something like this or how we could possibly make our own. (i'm always reading on here...getting ideas for my someday DFTW so i know how creative and helpful you are) any help is greatly appreciated!! thanks ladies!:goodvibes

no idea...lol. she said she could always just do the mickey/minnie bride and groom, but she said she wanted mickey ears. we are just assuming something along the lines of the mickey hats things you can get. sorry that's not much help...it's kinda asking for a miracle here.. lol

here a idea. you could you maybe make a chocolate one? or colored with candy melts. use a bowl as the hat part. they sell circle molds you can use for the ears. does that make sense?

you could probably make your own out of chocolate or gumpaste. Here's what I would do:

depending on how big you want it to be...

mold gumpaste to the inside of a half ball (like the Wilton mini-ball pan). Roll out gumpaste to approx. 1/8" - 3/16" thickness...cut 2 circles. Cut a flattened curve area on each circle (to better fit the half-ball) and insert toothpick or bamboo skewer.

Place half-ball on flat surface with tissue or styrofoamsomething mounded underneath (if you have made the half-ball hollow). It has to be able to hold your toothpicks up. Place ears on top, gluing them to the half-ball with royal icing or whatever you use to adhere gumpaste to gumpaste (Brandie? do you know??).

let dry for several days. decorate with royal icing, luster dust, whatever you feel like!

Now, I haven't done this or worked with gumpaste at all, but this is how I'd do it if I were to make something like that! I aspire to make cakes... :thumbsup2

princessdisneybelle's idea works too! :thumbsup2

I think having Mickey Ears as a cake topper is a cute idea! I think making it with gum paste, or chocolate is a great idea!
