Mickey D's breaking up with Disney?

Let's see that means that Burger King, Wendys or other better restaurants can move in!

Really McD's food,at least in Kentucky, is well ,nastier than a month old mildew filled hamburger!

Having never eatin a month old Mildew filled hamburger, I can't comment on that except to say that it doesn't surprise me that your average Kentuckyan has. :teeth:

This change is not supposed to affect the on-property McDonald's as they are the subject of a related but separate agreement.

All AllStar resort parents can now breathe a sigh of relief...I suppose.

Then the next step is to undo that related agreement. McDonalds does not belong on Disney property. Period.

But it especially does not belong in the parks. Even if is just Disney selling McDonalds items, it just doesn't belong.

Do Kodak,Nestle and all other sponsors need to go also ? like it or not, McD has become an American Icon.

Sponsorship is one thing. Replacing your own branded product with a chain that can be found on every street corner is another.

And that in itself speaks volumes about our society.

Sponsorships I can handle. Although, I get the feeling they're going to be fewer and fewer of them as time goes on.

But, McDonalds should not be part of the atmosphere of any of the Disney parks. There's a reason why they call 'em Disney theme parks. And seeing a McDonalds logo smeared all over a Disney fast food location isn't conducive to that theme.

How is it any different then FedEx signage at SM, Mobil at Universe of Energy, GM at Test Track, or any other attraction with sponsorship. Disney has Hess gas stations on property. Should they go ? ( BTW, Hess gas prices on property are the best gas prices within 50 miles of WDW).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of McD's fry station in MK either. But I don't see it as the worst thing that could happen either. At least McD fries taste great.

Like I said, sponsorship is one thing, the McDonald's signage is far different.

How?

For a lot of reasons.

First of all, McDonald's whole brand is built on being "cheap and fast." Is that something you really want to associate with Disney?

Second, many people believe those locations within the park are actual McDonald's location. Is that something you want associated with Disney parks? There was a reason why Walt himself decided to regain control of food services within Disneyland. Read about it.

Third, the McDonald's logo seems to be a tad bit invasive. Now they have banners at the "fry station" within World Showcase. (Which, ironically, someone trashed.) A sponsorship logo is one thing but we're taking advertising within the parks to new heights thanks to McDonalds.

And on, and on, and on....

As opposed to "expensive and slow" ..... just kidding.

Actually, McD's became successfull providing an economical meal for people in a hurry or on the go. I doubt they'd be a 50 yr old, multi billion dollar corp right now if peoples conseption of them were "cheap and fast". Sound more like an old hooker.

I don't know that I find McD's signage any more obtrusive at MK then any other logo. As a matter of fact..... just by way of a self test, I can't even picture what kind of signage the fry station has but I can clearly picture the Kodak film shop that's right next to it.

I guess McD's in the parks just isn't a real concern for me.

I have a problem with the full on McDonalds in Animal Kingdom.

The fry carts....are dumb.

I would have zero problems if McDonalds was "just" a sponser Disney has had sponsers in the parks since 1955. It's perfectly reasonable and I have no problem with it.

Also, just to add some fuel to the fire. Disney's fast food, in particular their burgers are nasty gross junk that I would not feed ANYONE. McDonalds is a culinary improvment.

Now, Disney sit down food is excellent, but those fast food Hamburgers.........ew. If you willingly eat one, then I'm going to question your taste and breeding.

I'm trying to think of a way that McD could be a sponsor without actually having a deep fat frier on the property.

Let's see: The Wonders of Life Pavillion, brought to you by the Saturated Fat Corporation.

Maybe a Food-Rocks type exhibit starring Grease,Grissle & Salt ?

Uh, sometimes, companies sponser attractions that have nothing to do with their field.

Why not have them sponser some random attraction.

Why the heck would they do that? Just because other companies aren't fiscally responsible means Mickey D's should be?

Can you give me an example of an attraction sponsor that doesn't have a tie-in to its product ? I'm drawing a blank.

Fedex and Space Mountain?
Energizer and Star Tours?

Nah... won't give you FedEx, too much of a tie in to what they actually do. They also even had a FedEx "store" so too speak right in TL.

Enegizer ???? Haven't been on Star Tours in years so I won't argue that one.

Space Mountain has a tie In To FedEx?

FedEx goes into space to retro surfer tunes?

FedEx delivers EVERYWHERE was their theme. The theme was probably more obvious while riding the TTA.

So it's no different that Energizer's keeps going and going and going across alien landscapes theme.
