Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Returns in 2022!!!

Any predictions on the "limited capacity" they are touting?

Are we thinking something between MNSSHP and Boo Bash as far as numbers?

Or the "limited" capacity we saw in the last few years of MNSSHP? (Which is to say not limited at all, and very crowded)

None, and I'd bet money on that. I know there's pent up demand specifically for MNSSHP, but the majority of the "pent up" demand is fizzling.
I'm of the same mind. These aren't the limited crowd, after hours Boo bash tickets. They're going to sell WAY more tickets to these events than they did last year.

They're not selling out in May. 3 weeks to see if I eat my words :-)

Am assuming if you’re already at the park with a ticket there’s somewhere you can pick up a wristband inside the park and you don’t have to leave and re-enter?
I wanted to mention that they used to open up the backside of Main Street and hand out your 1st bag of candy there. Make sure you go there you go down that pathway because there is special candy in that package.

Again, for anyone panicking about buying tickets right away, or a week early, or whatever, here's the sell out days and when they sold out (copy and pasted) last season:

Sold Out Dates: 9/22 (9/22), 9/27 (9/24), 9/29 (9/25), 10/1 (9/28), 10/8 (10/7), 10/10 (10/8), 10/11 (10/8), 10/14 (10/13), 10/17(10/17), 10/24 (10/19), 10/25 (10/24), 10/31 (10/8), 11/1 (10/29 )

No dates sold out till SEPTEMBER (and on the day of the party for that matter, so who knows if it actually sold out).

But, with all that said... even I still sit on hold (or virtual queue for hours the day the tickets are released) just out of my excited 5 year old state of mind. Its part of the fun! You can rejoice in saying "I got MNSSHP tickets!!!" And then kick yourself for months to come for wasting so much time in doing so because its already the end of August and not a single date has sold out. :)

Some thoughts: if you have hoppers, starting the day at MK on a party day and then hopping at 4pm is a GREAT idea. You get low MK crowds until 4, then go somewhere else to end your day. Similarly, when you want to see Enchantment, spend your day at a different park, then hop to MK with the plan of camping out for a fireworks spot perhaps with quick service dinner. If you don't have hoppers, you have to decide if Enchantment is a must-do for you. You can arguably get more done on a party day at MK with short hours but low crowds compared to a busy, full hours non-party day during party season. But, if you want the fireworks show, you've got to deal with the crowded day like everyone else.

As to your four year old, how late do they stay up normally? How long into the trip would the party day be? How many late nights / early mornings are you trying to fit in before and after party day?

We took our girls to MNSSHP when they were 5.5 years old, having never been up past 9:30pm prior. (And, that 9:30 was for Disney fireworks. Normal bedtime was 8pm with very, very few exceptions). They made it all the way through to the midnight stage show and they were so stinking proud of themselves. However, in order to make that happen, we 1) did the party as part of a short trip with two park days, one water park day, one party day 2) did not keep them up late at all the nights before the party 3) stayed at the hotel pool the whole day of the party so they had fresh legs and 4) let them sleep in late the day after the party before we headed to the water park. As part of a larger trip, you have to think about how tired your kid will be before the party even starts and how much the party exhaustion will then bleed into the rest of your trip.

We had an incredible time and I would never dissuade someone from doing a party with young kids if they've prepared properly. That said, our friends who were also there had a largely miserable time with whiney kids who were essentially ready to be done before the party ever started. They were on a much longer trip than us and their kids were just too tired to be into it at that point.

Thanks for such a great reply. I know I have a few options and I also need to talk to my husband, he should probably have some input lol

We’re going a Tuesday-Tuesday trip. Sat-Tues am before that we will be at Universal with tix for every day and express passes so I’m hoping it will be a little more chill that half.

Disney I don’t have hoppers yet (figured I could add later if I wanted) I have 3 park days right now - EPCOT Tues, HS Wed and MK Friday. Saturday planned rest day, Sunday probably Sea World, Mon another rest day and flying out 7 am Tuesday.

The 4 year old never wants to miss out on anything. He has stayed up til like 10 on his own before (he loves to stay up late) but we silly for bed usually around 8. I could totally see him pushing to midnight.

So much to think about!!

This is exciting news!! Got spoiled in 2019 with the party pass though.

I hope @monique5 will start the annual official MNSSHP thread soon!

I'd argue that there is a big difference between last year and this year. For one, price.

Also, crowds. Crowds really didn't start booming in excess until fall into winter of 2021. So, sure....those dates weren't selling out in 2021, or till late, but...the demands also wasn't really all the way back until late into 2021. But...the demand is certainly there now. And, if the demand for MNSSHP follows the trajectory that the crowds have followed, I think the demand may be much higher than we would expect.

As to your second point, it's kind of like getting into Heaven, right? You have to look at the worst case scenarios. Maybe you are right, and the demand isn't there. Worst case scenario of buying early is you sit on the phone for several hours unnecessarily. But what if you're wrong? If you're wrong, you're not getting in. (Ergo the heaven connection) So, it just depends how much you wanna go, and how much you are willing to take the chance.

For some people, MNSSHP might be eh, no big deal kind of thing. For others, they may have their entire trip centered around it. So, I would just ask them, how would you feel if you sat on hold with Disney for hours when you didn't have to? Next question would be, how would you feel if you waited to get tickets and it sold out? I guess where someone comes down on those two questions is ultimately what would sway them.

I expect the latter, and probably even less limited than 2019…though the manpower crunch might lead to a more limited capacity.

The world is a much different place then 2019. They also didn’t used to hit phase IV capacity closures in every park on random days in February, and yet, here we are.

For those who have done this before, do they use queue-it for online tickets like they did for Guardians previews? Or some other system?

In the past the events didnt’ sell out like they do now so you could just log in and buy the tickets. On the first day of sales it would crash a lot.

So I have not seen an answer to the following question: if I just buy a hard ticket for the event 7-midnight I am allowed to enter the park at 16h00. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use Genie+ to reserve rides between 4-7? Ty

I don't think any one can say yet. I think we used to be able to make 3 FP reservations if we hadn't already had some earlier, but with G+ its all new. I remember stacking FP from 3:30 on.

A great question.

IIRC, in past MNSSHPs the FP lane was closed, but I may be mistaken.

When we went to the Christmas Party last November we were able to do that. It was a bit different in that it was an after hours party and started at 9. We are passholders so were able to get in earlier for dinner and rides. We just hung around the resort in the morning and early afternoon and I made Genie+ reservations for the early evening up to 9pm when the party started. We got to ride most of our favorite rides then spent the party seeing characters, stage show, parade (2x) fireworks, special pictures, cookies and hot chocolate, Santa etc. I will do this again for the Halloween party. Hoping to get tickets for September 2.

I'm not sure AP experience will carry over to ticket holders, since you had enough access to be both a day guest and a hard ticket guest. If your day tickets are already reserving parks for other dates, it may work differently.

Out of curiosity, did you have any park reservation for that day?
