Michael Jackson Memorial- memorial video on page 9

They aren't praising him!

How old are you? You must be 8 not to understand the hype. This man was the King. Of. Pop! His death (like Caitlin said) is on par with the musical legends of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. He was one of the most well-known people of the world. He wasn't just a singer; he was an ICON.

Robin, I don't care what Debbie 'said' in an interview, and I never said she was bashing the Jackson's anyways. She said ON NATIONAL TV that she might as well not be their mother, because they were MICHEAL's children only. She hasn't been there for the children, and it seems to me that she has no bond with them. She is 100% in it for the money, IMHO.

Also, forgiveness is a great thing, but that doesn't mean Micheal wanted Joe around his kids. Forgiveness isn't the same thing as forgetting. Micheal remembers what happened to him as a child, and obviously he doesn't want his kids around that, or he would've put it in his will.

Okay, so I finally got to watch the entire memorial last night. I think it was very classy, and very much like a memorial or funeral service, and not like a concert type event, which I was afraid of.

When Micheal's family got on stage and spoke, it just seemed so very real and genuine. I believe they were a real, true family just like everyone else. When Marlon started crying and had to stop and pull himself together, that was just beyond words.

Also, I think it was Marlon who said 'maybe they'll finally leave him alone!' Oh, my heart just broke open. It just kind of proves that Micheal was really heartbroken from all the bad, nasty coverage of him in the past, and they hope he can truly rest in peace now.

I agree with you but on the other side, she did carry them each for nine months, and I know she may have said that she has no connection, I can't imagine giving up your children to be very easy.

I also agree with you about Joe. Michael also said that he wasn't allowed to call Joe father, so he doesn't allow his children to call him Michael, only Daddy. And because of the abuse he went through, he said that he would never lay a hand on his children.

:worship:
ITA, on all accounts.

I absolutely loved John Mayer's Human Nature. I thought it was brilliant, def my favorite performance save for the end. Plus, he was looking gorgeous which helped matters. ;) My mom was making fun of me for 1) Thinking he's a good artist. 2) Thinking he's cute. She was like "doesn't he sing?". "Mom, it's supposed to be like Michael's singing along with them". LOL
Oh, I do love it when people worship me.

On another note, is Jennifer Hudson pregnant?!

Yep! :)

I agree with everyone who's said the kids are better off with Janet, LaToya or Katherine. They definitely have a close bond with the kids, you could just tell at the memorial.

Ahhh finally. I was trying to find out who the singer was that led Heal the World & it's Judith Hill for anyone interested :)

She was great.

When they were all standing up there holding hands and singing, I couldn't help but think Micheal would've absolutely loved it.

You know what's really sad? I truly believe he was about to make an amazing comeback. Now this generation will never get to see him really on top of the world.

Oh I know right?!

Awee I thought he would too :( I never heard those 2 songs before! & The slideshow behind them was awesome too, I loved the meaning behind the songs. Michael really wanted to change the world & bring everyone together. I admire him for that.

Yeah. It's a shame it got cut short. Apparently the tour was supposed to start next week I think. I still haven't watched the rehersal video yet though!

It's so surprising that he died, because in the video, he was like the old MJ. Dancing, singing, and having a ton of fun. He didn't look ill at all!

Awee. It sounded like he was in his element, but outside of that they said he was really thin&suchh :/

Sudden deaths are the worst, which is why noone was as suprised with Farrah like someone previously said.

I watched the memorial.
I thought when Paris spoke, I was going to cry. ):
Everyone there was amazing.
& Shaheen was pretty awesome too. :D

yes, he was on par with elvis. but my mother told me that elvis didn't get near this much coverage. nor did jfk while he was still president. do you think by insulting people it will help get your point across?

You're only proving her point because that definitely was not an insult.

do you know why JFK & Elvis didn't get this much coverage?

because there was no internet, no twitter, no digital tv, no sattelite dishes, no cell phones. in the 1960s & 1970s radio and very very basic cable was all there was. the media wasn't what it was today

amen, sister.

That was sad.

I was fine until they showed everyone holding hands during We Are The World. Then I lost it. I was fine until Heal The World and his kids went on stage. I lost it, again. I was okay until Marlon started speaking. I lost it, once more. Then Paris started speaking, and I haven't cried so hard in months.
:sad1:

ohh my gosh when Paris started talking I just completely lost it, I had been ok for the rest of it but kids just absolutely break my heart, she seems like such a sweet girl who lost her father....oh so sad.

It was so weird too because for our last concert this year all our choruses only sang Michael Jackson Songs (this was about 3 weeks before he died)......So I've been hearing the songs for months. I had just really started to like him, and now he's gone.

So sad....:sad2:

Yes, because you were around when that happened.

And I wasn't insulting you. You'd know if I was insulting you, believe me.

THANK YOU!

Micheal Jackson was reported dead by TMZ like right as he got to the hospital. Things travel FAST in this age.

But people grieved for them and felt the loss for them just as much as they do with MJ.

Yes, because you were around when that happened.

And I wasn't insulting you. You'd know if I was insulting you, believe me.

yes, because that's totally why i said i was around when that happened.

I'll admit I don't know hardly anything about Michael Jackson, but I was really stunned with his death. We had just pulled into Walgreens and they said it over the radio and I was thinking "Really?". I think he was just one of those people to me that you couldn't imagine dying, he was always just there. I didn't really know much about his music (besides the obvious thriller), or himself really, I just knew of him. My grandma really didn't like him, but my mom did and watched his memorial all day yesterday. I saw parts of it, and I really liked Mariah Carey and the other guy (I don't remember his name) singing, it was beautiful. I also saw when Paris spoke, that was really sad. I can't say much about him, but I hope he passed peacefully and his family and friends are doing okay.

I hope the one song the kids can find peace in is "You Are Not Alone". It's probably describing almost everything they're going through right now.
