Michael Jackson Memorial- memorial video on page 9

The only thing I actually saw was his daughter crying. And it was so sad D:

i can see his kids cared about him. but still don't understand all the saint like coverage.

i can see his kids cared about him. but still don't understand all the saint like coverage.
All the saint like coverage? I find that people are still saying plenty of extremely harsh things about him, actually.

He is DEAD, let's let him rest in peace, shall we?

i saw that and had to re-watch it 15 times. you can clearly see legs in the hall banishing the idea of it being someone in the room.

and my thoughts on the whole "mj coverage being too much".

he was a living icon. you cant deny that.

i dont believe he was a creep. he was strange to the outside because we didnt understand him, and probably never will. i believe he was a good man, a pure child at heart. not a pervert like people thought he was. it saddens me that the minute this guy is gone, the whole world suddenly remembers how much they loved him.

and im with sonya. he was a troubled soul. theres no denying that either.

people knew farrah fawcett was going. she had cancer. it was expected. michael died out of the blue. the video of his rehersal the day before he died shows no indication that this guy was sick inside. it was shocking. no one expected that of all things.

i also heard that farrah did not want a big public thing about her funeral, because lets face it. farrah fawcett was no michael jackson. i have nothing against the woman. she was a phenomanal actress, stunningly beautiful, and she owned that 70's hair style. but she was no michael jackson. i honestly didnt expect anything less than what they did for him today at the memorial. he was over the top, as should be his farewell.

i will miss michael jackson because i believe his vision to change the world to be unlike no other. im with sonya when she said she cant listen to we are the world without wanting to cry.

not trying to rant, just had to get some thoughts out. <3

No idea how many times this has been agreed to, but I'm one who agrees with it as well. Very well put. :thumbsup2

thanks for your kind words guys. i was afraid of offending people. ^^;

jenny is right. his parents are sepperated. he lives in las vegas i believe and im not sure where she lives. but i do not like joe, and i think michael would be mortified if his children were near him. i agree with them staying with their grandmother, and if not them, i think janet or latoya (sp?) could help them tremendously. the children clung to those two like leaves at the memorial today.

That's what I thought. I also doubted Micheal would leave Katherine his kids if Joe was still in the home.

The way she turned to Janet made me think they have a real bond.

absolutely.
i think they'd be best with one of them.

My parents think Joe and Katherine are actually seperated or whatever, just not 'together' anymore, but not fully divorced.

I'm kind of leaning on the side that I want someone from Micheal's family to take them. It'd be great if one of his siblings could, since they're still young. Otherwise, I vote for Katherine. I just think she'd be much better than freaking Debbie Rowe who is OBVIOUSLY in it for the money and fame.
Now don't be so quick to judge Debbie. I watched an interview with her that was release after the ridiculously slanted coverage of MJ on the Martin Bashir "Living With Michael," and she did nothing but defend MJ. She told the interviewer that she knew that Michael should be a father and that she was more than happy to make his dream of fatherhood become a reality. They were best friends, and indeed lovers. She gave up the children not because she didn't love them, but because she knew it was the right thing, and that was only after deciding that the media was too much for her. That all they wanted to do was eat them alive. She after all was the reason the children wear scarves, she wanted to protect them.
So be careful what you say, she isn't in it for the money and fame, she is in it because they are her children.

Because the man was a saint. He gave everything he had back. He donated millions upon millions to charities all over the world, and made many a wish come true for children who were in need.
That's what I thought. I also doubted Micheal would leave Katherine his kids if Joe was still in the home.
I wouldn't be so sure about that either. In the same interview that Debbie was in, Michael said he had forgiven his father for everything, because in the end he made him into the world famous star he is. I think that people grow, and that the things Michael has shared with the world about the abuse his father put him through has most likely changed Joe. They all love and support each other, and back then disciplining children was on a whole different level where it was alright to get out the belt.

I will start of by saying I did not watch the full memorial, but I did catch most of it.
I thought it ws SO tastefully done. Great job by all who performed and spoke on his behalf.
The pictures and mood of the room was all very appropriate. I loved the quotes and the stories. It was a beatiful memorial and a great tribute to a wonderful man.
Yes he was misunderstood, but his children loved him, his music was fantastic and defined a generation, and he's leaving behind family, friends and millions of grieving fans. He was a face the world reconized, and he will always be remembered.
It was very sad and touching. I almost lost it when Paris spoke. She is a beatiful little girl who is obviously hurting, but she was so brave to speak up for her father. The Jackson family standing behind her when she spoke shows all the love that was in that family.
My thoughts go out to his children and all those grieving.
I loved his music, now probably more than ever.
RIP Michael Jackson may you find peace.

Just read through this whole thread, an I have to say, Becca you absolutely hit the nail on the head with you post :thumbsup2

I don't understand why people don't think there should be so much coverage on Michael, like it or not he was on par with the likes of John Lennon & Elvis Presley, he's an ICON and a legend. He deserves all of this coverage, I'm sure his millions of fans agree. If you don't like it, don't tune in :confused3

The memorial was such a sobfest! Paris  I just want to hug her so badly. That was such a heartbreaking moment. I pretty much cried @ almost everything (except Al Shaprton ) Heal The World was so amazing!!! Everything was great, I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I'm sure I'll cry again when I do.

Whenever they panned out from the performers and showed the casket right there, I just got CHILLS! Like, it was crazy and heartwarming to know that he was there and he knew that people really loved him, even through all the media BS.

It is sad that only since his death has all this love and praise come about, but that does tend to happen because I guess people just want on the bandwagon sometimes (Heath Leger anyone?----not to discredit true fans of course, just the bandwagon hopper-oners)

Anyways, I could go on forever but I'll shut up now.
That's my $0.02

I lied.

One more thought--I hope & pray that cow Debbie Rowe does not come close to getting custody of those poor children. They need to be with someone who truly loves and cares for them. I hope that the Jackson family (Janet, Latoya & Katherine in particular) happy a life as they can, and that the kids will be supported by somone(/people) who truly loves them and cares about their well being.

i have nothing against the man. he was an icon and a great musician. he also seemed to really care about his children. however, i don't think his death quite warrants all the newfound praise the media has been giving him along with all the coverage. i guess i'm just sick of all the hype.

I saw his daughter speaking and I felt so bad. All my feelings about her father aside, no child should lose a parent.

I always kept mentioning it, but the constant screaming after EVERY performance/speech kept getting soooo annoying. Like idk, in the beginning it was fine but throughout the entire thing was getting on my nerves.

And now they'll never get a normal life. They lost their father at a young age, their mother never wanted them, they have to be with an abusive grandfather and a grandmother who watched said abuse. They will forever be known as Michael Jackson's "widows", and they may be turned in to cash-cows. :sad2: And they are beautiful to boot.

Awe that's so true :( I feel soo friggen bad for them & what they've gone/will go through.

HOLD UP.

1. They're mother didn't want them..but now that hes dead, she wants them back so apparently shes going to fight for them.
2. I like the Mom. I cannot stand his Dad because his DAD is a scumbag (in my opinion). I'm sure he loved him either way...but his Mom seems decent.

Yes, they changed HIS life...but he didn't know any better. When you have talent like that...its almost a shame to keep it a secret.

I have a deep feeling that his Mom would do what he would want for his kids,
and he wanted his kids to be as normal as they could be.

Obviously, if he didn't think his mother would fufill their needs, he probably wouldn't have put it in his will.

Thats just my opinion.

I really hope that if the Debbie Rowe lady takes this to court, they get a judge who understands the situation & sees that Debbie & Joe aren't fit guardians whatsoever. She gave her babies up at birth, yeah to help MJ, but she gave them up. Idk about the kids but I would feel so unwanted after finding that out :/ So hopefully the judge honors MJ's wishes and gives them to Katherine.

Oh absolutely. She was never in the kids' lives & now all of a sudden BAM there she is now that MJ's dead & they basically get all that's left of his money. It's a shame.

::yes::
I also kinda think Janet, maybe?
I mean Paris was practically attached to her the entire memorial.

Yeah they seemed to have this really tight bond. & Since her and La Toya are young, they can relate more to the kids I guess. Idk either one of the sisters or the grandmother seems like good matches for me.

They aren't praising him!

How old are you? You must be 8 not to understand the hype. This man was the King. Of. Pop! His death (like Caitlin said) is on par with the musical legends of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. He was one of the most well-known people of the world. He wasn't just a singer; he was an ICON.

Robin, I don't care what Debbie 'said' in an interview, and I never said she was bashing the Jackson's anyways. She said ON NATIONAL TV that she might as well not be their mother, because they were MICHEAL's children only. She hasn't been there for the children, and it seems to me that she has no bond with them. She is 100% in it for the money, IMHO.

Also, forgiveness is a great thing, but that doesn't mean Micheal wanted Joe around his kids. Forgiveness isn't the same thing as forgetting. Micheal remembers what happened to him as a child, and obviously he doesn't want his kids around that, or he would've put it in his will.

Okay, so I finally got to watch the entire memorial last night. I think it was very classy, and very much like a memorial or funeral service, and not like a concert type event, which I was afraid of.

When Micheal's family got on stage and spoke, it just seemed so very real and genuine. I believe they were a real, true family just like everyone else. When Marlon started crying and had to stop and pull himself together, that was just beyond words.

Also, I think it was Marlon who said 'maybe they'll finally leave him alone!' Oh, my heart just broke open. It just kind of proves that Micheal was really heartbroken from all the bad, nasty coverage of him in the past, and they hope he can truly rest in peace now.

:worship:
ITA, on all accounts.

I absolutely loved John Mayer's Human Nature. I thought it was brilliant, def my favorite performance save for the end. Plus, he was looking gorgeous which helped matters. ;) My mom was making fun of me for 1) Thinking he's a good artist. 2) Thinking he's cute. She was like "doesn't he sing?". "Mom, it's supposed to be like Michael's singing along with them". LOL

I have to say when his daughter spoke everything went silent... really heartbreaking/tear jerker. So so sad for the kids. :sad2:
