Miami - Disney Transfers

I think this is a bit of a training issue with the CMs. I was told no on one Miami trip, yes on a different Miami trip, and yes on a Vancouver trip.

I agree not all CM's are on the same page. I called to book transfers after I made my hotel reservation and asked if I could use the transfers. At that time I was told yes....but, upon check in I did not get the info letter so was caught off guard when they came to collect the luggage in the am. The guy was very nice and came back 20 minutes late to collect our luggage once we had it ready. We were also told the wrong time to be in the lobby by the front desk. I should have just asked for the letter at check in but had forgotten about it.

I also find that they get SUPER confused when names don't match. My mother-in-law was traveling with her sister. One of them was the primary guest on the stateroom and the other was the primary guest on the hotel and the hotel staff acted like we had six heads when we tried to explain that yes, in fact, they were the same two women who had purchased the ground transfers.

Are they sold out through Disney? Or sold out completely? I booked the EB Hotel on my own using points in April and was able to still book transfers to the port. I asked DCL if it would be a problem and they said no. Definitely keep trying.

Also, I have stayed at the Courtyard Marriot twice this year...once in January and once earlier this month. Nice pool, clean rooms. Was fine for a one night pre stay. There is a nice Latin restaurant with pretty good food a few block away called Latin Cafe on LeJuene. We had breakfast and dinner there and ate outside. The onsite hotel restaurant is Ok, not great. Its a sports bar. The hotel shares the pool with the Marriott Residence Inn and there is a better restaurant at the MRI.

The EB and the Four Seasons are unavailable for the dates I needed in May on their website. I didn't try to book through Disney. The Hyatt was a bit too pricey.

I'm glad to hear that the Courtyard is nice. We'll have to decide if we want to go back to the airport for DCL transportation or get a taxi. We have an adult in a wheelchair in our party, sometimes its hard to get cabs that can accommodate the chair.

We were two adults on one of the stays and we took an Uber which was $15 and change to the port from the Courtyard. I know that can be difficult with a wheelchair.

The other stay we had our 14 month granddaughter and family and didn't want to lug a car seat on the flights so took the Hotel shuttle (came within minutes) from airport to hotel and then next morning took it back to airport to meet the DCL transfer. We were first at the DCL desk and they hold your luggage in a corral and told us to go get coffee and just be back before 10:15. They give you a sticker to designate which bus you are on. We got Captain Mickey which is the first bus. First bus left about 10:30. It is only about a 20-25 minute drive to the port depending on traffic.

I can't remember how accessible the hotel shuttle was....sorry.

Thanks. We've used DCL busses before and they are usually good at accommodating the wheel chair.

I just have a quick question. We’re staying at an airport hotel and also doing a Disney transfer from the Miami airport. So, we don’t get a set time to be there - we just go whenever we want in the morning? Lol. Thank you!
Well they started at 9 or 10 AM. They kinda looked “in the way” of airport business by an airport map and a garbage can. They had something the size of a TV tray with markers, pens and a stapled list of people that they expected/times/airlines. The most identifying aspect was that several identically dressed in white shirts, Disney name tag, Disney scarf or tie, and blue pants stood in close proximity. No Mickey hands.
They checked me in and I got the feeling I was expected and now they would not have to look for me. I swear they said “Oh look, good, they are here.” I suspect since I had an earlier boarding time my name was top of page 2 of what looked like 5 or 6 page’s.

After a longish walk we waited outside (icky-sticky) where there’s no seats. The bus did not come quickly, we might have been sent too early. Then they also had problems at the port but I’ll hope that was a 1-off event so won’t include more details on that here.
