Hi everyone –
Going to Disney (just myself and my 7 year old son) Sept 22nd til Oct 1st.

Staying at the Polynesian

Now enough about that lol

Wondering for MGM – where would you rather eat dinner?

Sci Fi Drive in

OR

50’s Prime Time Café?

Also does anyone have a link or something for the menu of 50’s prime time?

Thanks in Advance, Mommy and Sean

That's a dilema we're always faced with. I would think that your son would enjoy SciFi more since they have really cool car tables and kids get a "drivers license". My DDs love both places.

A drivers lis.?
Last time we went I dont remember him getting anything like that

I should also say we have been to the drive in one once, but never the 50's prime time, we really liked the drvive in so we are just wondering if we shoudl try the other this time

My boys loved the Sci-Fi when we went last year. They were given paper driver's licenses because they sat in the front seat of the "car" and we sat in the back.

My dh and I did the 50's Prime Time cafe several years ago, BK (before kids!) and when we checked the menu out for our upcoming trip, we just weren't "into it"...

So....

We've decided to leave MGM and eat at Spoodle's on the boardwalk, and then re-enter MGM for Fantasmic.

Just another option for you!

IF YOU GO TO ALLEARSNET then dot com (sorry wont let me post URLs) they have a menu for every restaurant at disney including the resorts and downtown.

I think that 50's Primetime has much better food than Sci-fi. I think that at 7 your son will get the staff at Primetime and their antics.

our worst and longest wait and meal was at sci fi...cute cute atmosphere but would never go back...ate at prime time long ago and the food was fine, atmosphere fun,,our fav for mgm is Brown derby, good food, good service but might not be high up a7 year olds list of fun things...how about the beaches and cream at the beach club...about a 15 min or so boat ride away? and what 7 yr old wouldn't like a big old ice cream sundae and a burger????

The food is much better at 50's PT. However, DS (10) has requested both again this year because he likes to eat in the cars and watch the flicks at Sci-Fi. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

50's Prime Time. The food is really good. My DD loved the place when she was young, she giggled alot when the servers "yelled at" mom for putting her elbows on the table and dad for "not cleaning his plate". :)

50's food is better in my opinion. And they do a much better job of handling the crowds. Sci-Fi is fun for the atmosphere, but if you get a good CM at 50's it's a blast.

50's primetime hands down. Great "homestyle" meal and funny servers make it a good place for dinner.

I think Sci-Fi has MUCH better food than 50's :)

And... I'm a real sci-fi fan, so what can I say?

I went in June with my 7 year old son. We liked 50's okay. The smores were YUMMY. The friendly staff kind of spooked him. He wasn't sure about people he didn't know being bossy with him about eating his veggies and keeping his elbows off of the table.
But, he loved Sci Fi. He had a great time. He like it better than some of the rides. The food at both places was okay, but not out of this world.

OK........... we have (had) decided on 50's primetime, BUT, what is the "bossy" thing??? Can someone share - tell me about this place!!! Thanks

Love the food at PT.

If you're been to SciFi, why don't you try something new? PT has great food and a fun environment, your son would probably love it!

The servers give you a hard time if your elbows are on the table (they'll even put a line of ketchup on the table edge so you can't put your elbows down), they'll ask what color/kind of soap there is in the bathroom so they know if you washed your hands or not, if you don't eat your veggies then no desert kind of thing (they'll do the airplane with the veggies to get you to eat them). Everyone in the place are your "cousins" and the servers act like they're yelling to "mom" back in the kitchen etc. Sometimes people are made to stand in a corner for being "lippy" with the server. It's a blast. The kids get a charge out of their parents being disiplined.
