We are thinking of going straight to DTD from MGM on one of our days. Are there any direct busses or do we have to bus to a resort and then from the resort to DTD? If so, which resort would be the fastest for us to use? Also, are there taxi's readily available at MGM? Would jumping in a taxi be a better option for us?

Thanks,
Karen

There aren't any busses straight to DTD from MGM. You'll have to taxi or bus it from a resort. The easiest would be to take the boat or walk to the Swolphin and take a DTD bus from there. Cabs would be faster but if you're not in too much of a hurry, save your money and just take the bus from a resort.

If there's a cab waiting, take it.

If not,

walk towards Swan/Dolphin as kareneast suggests, but leave the path to the right, after the bridge and Boardwalk tennis courts but before you get to the start of the Boardwalk building. Cut across to the Boardwalk parking lot and then around the front of the Boardwalk up towards the main lobby. The Boardwalk bus stop is on your right before you get to the lobby.

A shorter walk than to the Swan/Dolphin and then a shorter bus ride to Downtown Disney.

I go from MGM to DTD quite alot. (in fact from every park to DTD)
I enjoy the trip and am rarely in a hurry: I like to take the boat from MGM over to the Beach Club, walk through the lobby (stopping at the store to make another pin trade) and then catch the bus to DTD.
Most of the time I make the trip from MGM to DTD in less then 45 minutes: it really depends on how many CM's are wearing lanyards.
Plus you get to see so many new faces just watching the people coming and going.
However you end up getting to DTD, enjoy the ride.
