I'm not sure if this has been talked about before sorry if I'm repeating.

While I was waiting for friends to come out of Ice station at Epcot I spoke to one of the DVC cm's. They saw that DS had an Indian Jones pin and said to keep it since the show will be gone as of Oct 2005. I had heard that they were bringing in the ride but wasn't sure if it was true. The CM continued to say that they will be taking away some of the parking lot to expand MGM and adding more thrill rides with a villain theme and that they would be changing the name of MGM to something to do with Villains.

I do hope they add some more rides in MGM. They do need a few more rides.

With that keep/increase the street acts. I'm getting slower and need the pause.

It'll now be called the Disney Villains park and feature attractions about Michael Eisner and Paul Pressler! (Just kidding).

It's obviously not a movie studio any more, especially since animation is gone. The front Golden Age of Hollywood still works okay, but the back doesn't have a feel to it. Having the old studio part be taken over by villains might be a neat idea.

Nah, They need all the parking lot they have.

Most likely place for future expansion is in the Production Office area.

Last March there was a lot of construction in the parking lot near the water, almost like a new bus corral perhaps. Does anyone know what happened there?

Interesting that this Villain park rumor is still around, though, I've never seen it in this incarnation. I believe if Indiana Jones leaves it will be because of the new stunt show.

Always liked this idea when it was rumored as a 5th park (sort of WDW's answer to Islands of Adventure). I think I like it even better as a replacement for the Studios.

Great Movie Ride is horribly dated (how many people under 40 have sat through an entire 1920s "gangster" movie). The Little Mermaid will apparently be setting up shop in MK. The Muppets, although still fun, are apparently no longer a big draw with kids - they did not exactly have buyers lining up earlier this year. As for the whole old Hollywood facade, Universal does the same thing, and arguably does it better.

That basicaly leaves ToT, which would fit nicely with a villians park, and RnRC, which could be re-themed without touching the ride system.

How long would this take, though? Can WDW operate with only three parks for a year or more without guests feeling gyped?

Closing or changing an entire park will never happen.

Only because forums like this keep it alive.

They added more Disney resort buses and changed the way tour buses and handicap parking work.

Isn't their licensing deal with MGM toast? The park certainly could use some updating. It's difficult to believe they'll re-theme it, but a refocusing on Disney's live action movies would seem to carry the movie theme. Great Disney movies like Mary Poppins, "Flubber", Treasure Island, Darby O'Gill could be used in one fashion or another.

Disney has a great deal of film assets they've never tapped.

The New Stunt Show will be in the back lot part of MGM. While we took the backlot tour last October, there was a huge area under construction and I've read it here that is the place where the new stunt show will be held.
Maybe they're going to rehab Raiders? I see the movies rerun on television all the time, in fact, just this past weekend they had a marathon on Sci-Fi.
Who knows?
I look forward to reading this board concerning rumors all the time

I'd like to see a new thread about rumors that have come to fruition. In fact, I'll start it right now :)

Oooooh, I'd love a Villain's Park. But this has been a rumor now for how many years?

Maybe the MK can add a new Villains MT where the 20,000 Leagues use to be... :)

Yes, as a cm I know where the new stunt show is being held. I just meant ifthey get rid of the Indiana Jones show it will be because the new one is opening...and there is no need for two stunt shows.

Hmmmm. Can WDW operate all 4 parks for a day or more without guests feeling gyped?

Just a thought.

I would like to see them go with a few more 3d or 4d type rides like Spiderman or Shrek in US. Can you imagine and Indiana Jones ride, Finding Nemo or some other movie based ride. I think the Stitch Ride with more of a MIB feel or the Buzz ride would fit in MGM Studios. I do think a move towards a few more adult oriented rides would work in MGM. MK will always be for kids and kids at heart.

i know that they have been thinking about putting in the indiana jones ride from disneyland in once the new stunt show opens up where residentail street use to be on the backstage tour however it is highly unlikely that they will remodel the entire park i know they have toyed with the idea of taking the MGM off the name and just keep it the Disney Studios there is a major referb on the way for the great movie ride and their has been some specualtion as to whether or not they will be able to keep the ride because most of them are MGM movies and also whether or not they will take down the chinese theatre because of the same reason and it is now not the icon of the park the big hat is some one said something about finding nemo but they already have plans for that... to replace 2k leagues but 2007 in disneyland and i believe around the same time for disney world....
personally i think they need to start coming up original ideas and not taking them from all the cartoon movies sure i love the movies but come on stitchs great escape? sure it might be cute its tommorrowland NOT fantasyland lets get some good furturistic stuff in there
