BIL and SIL have never been to MGM so I'm trying to help them figure out what to do with their DS2.5 I read on DisneyWorld.com that kids have to be 4 and older to do Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. Is that really true?

Any ideas?

We were just there 2 weeks ago with my just turned 2 year old and 11 month old DDs. We did the HISTK playground.....no one said anything to us.....there were a very little slide in there that the baby went down, so I don't think there is an age limit.

There's plenty to do there with toddlers. My girls LOVED the Playhouse Disney show. We saw it twice in one day and went back another day! They also enjoyed Voyage of the Little Mermaid. JoJo and Goliath are on Mickey Ave and they were fun to meet. I thought this was the best park to do character greetings with because it seemed like there were always a ton of characters near the hat and Mike and Sulley are there too. Surprisingly both DDs loved Lights, Motors, Action! I think it was the cars and all the fast driving, but they both had their mouths open the entire time, the older one saying Cars, Cars, Cars! :rotfl:

It's a great park for young kids. In addition to Playhouse Disney and Little Mermaid they'll also love Muppets 3D and the Toy Story Pizza area. My ds 2.5 at the time was so thrilled to win a prize in the claw game just like in the movie!!! Also enjoyed Indiana Jones (The new stunt show wasn't there then) and the Parade. Oh my gosh, i think this is my favoite afternoon parade! Yes, better than MK and usually held at a better time so you can go back for an afternoon nap and still make the parade! I agree too that char interaction is great at MGM.

My son was 2 yrs. on our trip last year. We took him to the HISTK playground and he had a blat. He also enjoyed Playhouse disney, the muppets and all of the character meets. We missed Voyage of the mermaid. Believe it or not he also got a kick out the millionare show, thought it was fun to push the buttons. I agree that the parade over there is great.

DS 21 months loved the stunt show, too. He had a running commentary throughout about the lights, noises, you-name-it! Playhousse Disney, Little Mermaid, he even liked the Great Movie Ride and really enjoyed the Muppet 3-D, even though he didn't wear the glasses!

When we went to Star Tours, the CM offered us a "special" ride. It was a pretty light crowd, so he had me take DS2 off into our own theater and he ran the ride without any of the motion effects! It was so great for the little one! We finished a few minutes after the other 9 in our party and circled back up with them!

We took our 16 month old neice to it. The hardest part is it's not exactly designed for adults. It gets hard to keep an eye on your little one. My DH was hunched over when we left fitting into places she went. There was no way we were letting her out of our sight. She did have a blast though.

I'm pretty sure the age restriction is more advisory and Disney feels anyone under the age of 4 may be "out of their element" with older kids running around (you know how kids can be...knocking others over, etc).

We just went to WDW and spent a day at MGM. DD3 loved Tower of Terror (rode it 4 times), Star Tours, Playhouse Disney, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lights-Motors-action, and Muppets 3d. With seeing the other characters, meals, and gift shops she didn't even know she missed Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playset. She is 41 inches tall so she had no problem with ToT but was ok not getting on RnR - she is looking forward to the day she can get on though.

I agree with the posts so far. Playhouse Disney Live on Stage is great for kids. My kids love the Sci Fi for lunch or a snack.

Some other considerations:
Indiana Jones has lots of fire.
Little Mermaid is dark.
Muppets is dark & loud.
I've had to take at least one child out of each.

I agree with kilee. There are so many twists and turns and multiple exits in some of the tunnels that an adult needs to follow after the young ones.

I've been back in the playground area and see very little children there...I guess you just have to keep a very close eye on them so that the "big" kids dont run them over. I think they'll also like Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Muppet Vision 4D, and Fantasmic. The Toy Story Parade is cute too. I would advise against the Great Movie Ride though for a young child. Although it is a VERY nice ride to reminisce over the movies (I find it a very touching glimpse into the movies), there is a part in the ride w/live actors where a "bad guy" sort of hijacks your ride vehicle and partakes in fight scenes w/other people. It can get very loud and scary for a young child, as there are fake gun shots and the bad guy has made little children cry before cuz they dont know whats going on. But for adults who love the old time classic movies, its a great ride. The kids would also like Playhouse Disney Live on Stage and the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade.
PS- Dont forget, if the grown up's want to enjoy the thrills, Disney allows adults w/children to switch off so that you only have to wait in line once!
