MGM Rope Drop

Is there acutally a rope drop at MGM, and if so, at what time can you line up?

When we went in July of last year, they had a "rope drop."It seems to me that they let us in about 10 minutes before, just to the end of the street. They then walked us all the way down to TOT and RnR, so no running. Hope that helps.

I remember this, they make a big deal out of it!!
There were CM's representing different rides...I was right at the front of the rope next to a CM from TOT.
They did walk us to the rides, it was cool though...I was the first one on RNRC!!

When we were there last month, they let us in at about 8:45 up to the end of Hollywood Blvd. There was a welcome announcement then the rope drop at 9:00. They didn't walk the ropes down Sunset Blvd, but then it wasn't very crowded anyway (ex. we rode R'nRC twice walk-on, then TOT with less than a ten minute wait).

The way it works now is 15 minutes before park opening they let everyone in up to the corner of Hollywood & Sunset. Then at opening, they walk you down Sunset all the way to Tower/Coaster.
