Please help me or I'll be up all night.

On our first WDW visit in 1998 we ate lunch at a CS restaurant at MGM. I can't remember the name of it but I know it is now closed. The building was still there when we went in 2007.

I think the front of the building is blue and from what I remember you entered up some steps and through a revolving or swinging door, but I could be wrong about that.

The food was cafeteria style-you picked what you wanted and then went to the cashier to pay.

There was seating outside, covered, and raised up a few feet with a rail around it.
I seem to remember we could see TTOT from there.

Does anyone recognize this palce????????

Sounds like Hollywood & Vine. It's a character dining location now, but I haven't been there since around 2001 or so, I don't know if they have regular service or the buffet there still, or if it's all character meals.

I'm pretty sure the place you're talking about now has the Hollywood and Vine buffet.

I can't tell for sure from the photo and I'm pretty sure the place was closed when we were there last fall. We were watching a parade right across from there there were peple sitting on the steps watching the parade-the steps had been roped off for them.

Sounds like the original Hollywood and Vine to me, too. It was a cafeteria, not a buffet, you would slide your tray down the line, pick up your food as you went, and pay at the end of the line. It used to be our favorite place for breakfast.

I'm pretty sure this must be what you're remembering. There was never another cafeteria in MGM, this place does have the steps and the raised outdoor seating area with the rails (all of that is still there - it's now the area where people wait to be seated), and I can't think of anywhere else that might meet that description.

I think it was the original Hollywood & Vine as well. I remember eating there in the mid nineties when it was a cafeteria. The food was pretty decent as I recall and was fairly reasonably priced.

OK, thanks. That must be it. Yeah, the meal we had there wasn't bad and it was reasonably priced. We stayed off-site that trip and we didn't eat at many restaurants. I remember we had a really good time just sitting outside with our lunch and people watching. :)

OMG!!! I've been wondering about that for years. I have this hazy memory of eating someplace like that back in 1997 and I had convinced myself that I was just mixing it up with something from Universal.

Thanks for solving a mystery for me!

I have fond memories of eating breakfast there. Since we don't have kids and the playhouse disney characters aren't my cup of tea, we always have a hard time coming up with where to eat on HS days.
