We have ps for Sci-Fi for lunch on our MGM day, and now I am reading all the worst and best meal reviews and I am rethinking my decision. If not Sci-Fi (we have already tried Prime Time) than where? I don't want to leave since we will be there for Star Wars weekend and I find it hard enough to believe we will get my son to sit down and eat let alone LEAVE the park.

How old is your son? the Sci Fi is a fun place- food is fine. But- if you're looking for a new place anyway- try PrimeTime- it's a blast and the food is very good.

I have never been impressed with Sci-fi but the familly really enjoys it. This next trip will be the first time that we don't go. We're trying 50's PT and HBD for the first time instead. I've heard rave reviews about some of the counter service. I've also read conflicting reports about whether or not H&V has lunch. I wish I could be more help. But if you don't get any better advice please don't worry about Sci-fi. It's really not bad.

Thanks for the reassurance! My children are 12, 8, 5 and >1! It is the eight year old that is a big SW fan! We did enjoy the Prime Time Cafe last time (food was just ok).

Regarding the question of whether H&V does lunch (I know I have had lunch there in the past), we were told just today that they start serving at 3PM.

Our favorites are Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. But with an eager SW fan, I'd go with Mama Melrose. Great food and service. BD has always been a little slower paced in our experience.

I think with the kids they'll really get a kick out of Sci-fi. Even if the food isn't good (I've had good and I've had not so good there) they'll enjoy the atmosphere. MM and HBD will probably not impress them.

I would give Sci Fi a try if I were you. The restaurant reviews are all very subjective. When we ate there I wasnt all that crazy about it but the boys loved. So, we will be eating there this trip as well.

Our children are young adults now but have been dining at HBD and MM since they opened. They loved both restaurants when they were young. Lots of cool detail in the decor at both as well as GOOD food. To think that there has to be a show for kids each meal doesn't give them enough credit I think.

We have two sons, ages 14 and 12, and our whole family loves Sci Fi!! It's a must-do for us every trip. We're all sci fi fans, and we enjoy the cheesy movie clips. Plus, it's such fun theming.

We always get burgers and shakes, and they're very good. I wouldn't recommend trying much else there because I've also read all the bad food reviews, but if you stick with burgers I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sci-Fi is just fine for some foods, don't worry! I would however keep it to simple choices, burgers & fries etc, rather than anything trying to be sound a little fancier as this is where they really fall down IMO. They do fab Onion Rings though :)

Can you get burgers and fries at dinner at SciFi?

Sci-Fi is a must do on our trips - we get burgers, fries and shakes and have never been disappointed. I can not comment on their other food selections as I have never had them.

We love the themeing and the short movies that are shown are entertaining to watch!!

We really enjoyed Sci-Fi. DH and I had burgers and shakes and kids had chicken fingers and drinks with glow in the dark ice cubes. The burgers and shakes were really good and the atmosphere was fantastic! I think you and your kids will enjoy it.

We tried Sci Fi for the first time last month. My mom had the marinated tomatoes and loved them, hubby had the All American burger and liked it, kids had chicken fingers and burgers and liked them. I had the reuben and didn't like it at all. But I was the odd man out. Everyone agreed it was fun to try but we won't do it again. Maybe you guys will love it. Thats the great thing about this board, you get soooo many helpful opinions, but the only one that matters is your own!!! :earsboy:

Just asked my 16 year old son if there was any particular place he wanted to eat when we go in July. He said Sci-Fi!! He's been to WDW 9 times so he's been to a lot of restaurants. He even liked it that last time he went he wasn't all that hungry and they let him order a corn dog from the children's menu:hyper: If you have never been you should definitely give it a try. It's not Artist Point but then it's not suppose to be. My niece recently took her son on their first trip and she couldn't decide whether to go to Sci-Fi or not either. I finally convinced her to go and she said she was really glad that they didn't miss that!! Your kids will love it.

I know that you mentioned dining at 50's before, but compared to Sci-Fi, I'd dine there again. If you want just a dessert, then do Sci, but other than that, I found the food just so-so. Another option may be doing a quick service meal.

Hope this helps.

That is so true, Buzzfanmom!!

Everyone recommends the burger and fries but I don't see it on the dinner menu. Does anyone know if you can order a burger for dinner?

Yes you can get burger and fries at dinner. We have done it.
That is pretty much all we have there. It is fun and I think you will all get a kick out of it. Yes there are places that are better etc. but for what it is, it is fun and really worth a try. Your son will probably really like it especially since he is in to the sci fi thing.

Hi! We have done Sci-Fi twice and enjoyed it each time the kids love to sit in the cars and it is dark, and cool in there. The snipets of film they show are boring and the food is just okay for the price. We are opting for Toy Story's Pizza Planet this time- a lot cheaper and I have heard great things about the pizza.
