I need help with a counter service lunch in MGM I know there have been threads on this in the past but the search function is down and I've gone back 10 pages looking for threads with no luck.

I've figured out that Flatbread Grill doesn't serve flatbreads ( :confused3 ) and the reviews on Pizza Planet are definitely mixed. what are your picks :thumbsup2 and pans :sad2: ?

thanks!

I have never had a decent CS meal at MGM, I'm sorry to say. I leave MGM to eat. I have made due with some stuff from Anaheim Produce & Starring Rolls.

The worst CS food in MGM that I had was the Pizza from Pizza Planet and a very poor excuse for a cheese sandwich from Backlot Express.

While Toy Story Pizza Planet definitely wasn't our favorite counter service last May, it was okay. We plan to go again this June. The pizzas were okay, the salads were fresh, and the Mickey rice krispie treats were fun. The seating upstairs was also nice. I only wish that the outside of the restaurant looked more like the restaurant in the movie. Seriously, the pizza was about what I expected from a counter-service. While it wasn't pizzeria quality, it was definitely edible.

W/ that being said, since it looks like the rumored character meal at H & V may not be in place in time for our trip in June, I'm thinking about scheduling an ADR for lunch at the Sci-Fi restaurant. It's a table-service restaurant, but I think our kids would enjoy it for lunch. But, since we have the dining plan, & I already have too many table service restaurants & just enough counter service restaurants, I'll probably stick w/ Toy Story Pizza Planet.

However, if you don't have to have a definite counter-service restaurant, you might consider Sci Fi - some of the sandwiches are priced as reasonably as some of the counter service items.

I have to agree with Leota--there simply are no decent counter service restaurants at MGM. The absolute worst counter service in Disney, IMO, is the ABC Commissary, and the others aren't a whole lot better.

When we find ourselves at MGM at mealtimes, unless we have a table service planned, we usually take the boat to the Boardwalk or the International Gateway at Epcot and this gives us alot more to choose from.

I agree with the other posters, our party of 7 split up, looking for something to eat before Fantasmic (had a good lunch at Sci Fi, but that was hours before), none of us even remotely liked what we got.
A friend of mine is planning a trip for July, and has been asking me questions since it's been a dozen years since she was as WDW....I suggested she leave the park for food. She says she wants to stay all dat at every park, so I told her to count on being hungry then! (I even tried the kids chicken nuggets my daughter had.....YUK! They couldn't even do that right.....)

We've eaten at Pizza Planet twice, but that's because my kids wanted to eat there. The 1st time was fresh and good, the second time was horrible.

We ate at ABC Commissary once for breakfast and once for lunch. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK :crazy2:!

We were planning on trying Studio Catering during our trip in May, but they had to go and change the menu. As of now, we plan on just grabbing something at Starring Rolls. Since it'll be hot out, we probably don't need anything hot and heavy to eat.

We're going to Star Wars weekends so we don't really want to leave the park.

We don't care for CS at MGM.

Usuaully eat a good breakfast at resort or condo and eat a late lunch at Primetime to hold us over for Fantastmic.

her.
