MGM closes at 10pm, Fantasmic is at 10:30

I assume that the only thing open after 10pm will be Fantasmic, or are the shops open? We are going to the 9PM show, will we be able to stay in the park for a bit or do we have to leave right away?

The shops are open until after the second showing of Fantasmic.

I know that on MGM's nighttime EMH, Fantasmic is at 9pm & 10:30 pm. That may be what you are seeing. If so, several of the attractions will also be open.

I just responded to your other thread on EMH.

It sounds like the Fantasmic show is happening on an EMH night. Same thing as the other parks (see my posting in the other thread). Get a band before the park "closes." You will be allowed to see Fantasmic and, if you have the band, ride any of the attractions that are open. (see the other thread for a more specific list of attractions.)

I leave for Orlando on Friday, and I spent a few hours last night making up a spreadsheet with times. I've got the info for the 12th through the 17th, and Fantasmic is shown each night at 9 & 10:30 except on the 13th (only shown at 9). The only one of those days that's an evening EMH is the 12th, so unless you're going that day, you don't need a band to stay late.

They always did this when I went in previous years in the summer, and from what I remember a lot of the shops on the main street and on the street where TT, RnR and Fantasmic are located were still open after the show. Not all, but a lot.

We are going the 22nd and it isn't an EMH at all. It shows the times for Fantasmic as 9 and 10:30, with the park closing at 10:00

That is very strange, indeed. Usually they have a late showing after the park "closes" on an EMH night. When I was there in March/April my friend and I saw the late showing during EMH. Maybe they are just bumping up their hours for the summer. Also, doors open usually 1-2 hours before the show starts. My best piece of advice - give yourself at least an hour! There were people who showed up 45 min. in advance and there were no seats left! Enjoy the show! It's great!

We've noticed that in the past MGM will often announce that they will be open later if they are crowded that day. I would assume that they are predicting this. although, there weren't evening EMH's at that time either.

I actually don't like Fantasmic at all!!! I am traveling with people that might though, so will go again. Is the later show the least crowded? Or are they they same?

The shops will definitely be open! If you still have money in your wallet after 10pm the shops will be open!

Shops on Sunset & Hollywood Blvd's should be open past the end of the second F! showing.

The park is closing at 10, the show will be at 10:30. Don't worry, it works, they did it last year too. Probably has to do with the time needed between fantasmic shows, clearing out the audience and getting the next one in. Generally speaking the second show is not as crowded, some sections had no people in them when we did the second show in June.
