MGM Character Meal Update Thread

I, too, have all but given up hope!! Zero interest in a Playhouse Disney meal here either.

I just wanted to thank DisneyFanatik and Cruzfamily for your daily calls and updates. Checking for your updates became part of my morning routine! I appreciate it very much. :goodvibes

DisneyFanatik, sorry to hear about your husband's condition, and best of luck with his treatment.

Ok, so maybe the Toy Story breakfast is a bust, but why can't they do a Power Rangers breakfast and start it immediately. They were already going to start the Toy Story one in April, so restaurant wise it should be ready. They already have Power Rangers hired. How much training could it take to be inside a restaurant instead of out on the streets? This just seems like a no-brainer to me. Disney, please start this breakfast for the older boys. Give us a chance and just see how we will spend our money on ours sons as well as our daughters.

Hi everyone! I can't believe all of the changes this supposed meal has gone through since we started this thread 2 months ago! Anyway, whatever they decide to do, it won't be in time for our trip (just to add my 2 cents: a Playhouse Disney meal would do nothing for us!). DH was just diagnosed with a degenerative back condition so I will probably not be able to update the title daily for a while with all of the dr. appointments we will be going to. I will just remove the date - keep checking in the thread for updates. You guys are doing a great job calling each day (special thank you to Cruz Family for all of the calls you have made! :flower3: ). I hope this works out for everyone who wants it!!! Keep wishing! pixiedust:

Thanks for getting us started, for making all the phone calls, and keeping this thread updated. A Playhouse Disney meal would be a serious disappointment for us as well.

Prayers and pixie dust to your husband and you. :wizard:

Thanks again!

Beth

Nothing once again. The CM I spoke to says it is not going to happen. This seems to be what they are all saying. I do not want to be a poor sport, but We just have no iterest in a playhouse disney meal. I will continue calling for the rest of the week and if it still looks like the Toy Story meal is a no go I would appreciate it if someone that is interested in the other meal would do the honors. For now I will continue to update everyone daily.

I don't think you are a poor sport. Thank you for calling for so long! I have no interest in a Playhouse Disney meal either.

I agree! Thanks for calling all of these times! I also am not interested in a Playhouse Disney meal. Sorry to hear the Toy Story one isn't going to happen, but that saves us some money in the long run! It was the only character meal we were considering.

Thanks again for calling for this VERY LONG period of time. It was very kind of you. Hope your family has a magical trip to Disney!

Thanks to all those that have kept us updated on this meal. I don't think that my boys would be interested in Playhouse Disney now. A couple of years ago they would of liked it. Good luck to anyone with a trip for later in the year.

I wanted to Thank You Cruz family for calling and updating us everyday. I have been checking this board everyday for a month and because of you mentioning the "free dining" package being back I rebooked our trip. Now we are saving a ton of money!! :cool1:

Thanks  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

Just another thank you for the regular updates. Here's wishing you a little extra pixiedust: for all your diligent updates on this.

We don't have any interest in a Playhouse meal either, so I don't think I'll be checking in as regularly anymore.

Thanks again

Thanks to all those who have called and checked on this, we too are discouraged by the news that the Toy Story Breakfast won't happen. I will just have to add it to the list, we are hoping that Delta works out the difficulties or otherwise we can't even go.

:sad2: We aren't interested in a Playhouse Disney meal. I couldn't even name a character from that. My DDs are 14 and 11. They would have enjoyed the Toy Story meal because it was new. Oh well. I am still hoping, but not counting on it.

Maggie

Like many others, I 've been monitoring this thread from the very beginning. I think I gave up hope about 3 weeks ago, though! Needless to say, I am very disappointed that this meal never came to be!

Thank you to DisneyFanatik and Cruz Family for your efforts! It was truly appreciated!!

I hope you all have a great vacation with your loved ones . . . after all, the time spent with the ones you love is the most important part of a vacation!!

That's a great idea. My soon to be 8 year old son would love a Power Ranger meal almost as much as a Toy Story meal. The characters are already there so it would be so easy to start a meal for boys.

:thanks: Thank you all so much for the well wishes! DH will be starting physical therapy, so hopefully that will help him. I hope that someone at Disney reads these boards and they see just how much a new character meal is needed. Maybe soon they can work out something to set up a meal for the older kids (boys especially). I hope you all have magical vacations....

Thank you all for your daily updates. I, too, check this thread on a daily basis. I'm also in the majority that the Playhouse breakfast would hold no interest whatsoever for my kids (DS9, DD15, DS17). At least we've booked Spiderman at Universal along with the princess meals, etc at Disney.

Like everyone keeps saying, Disney really needs to look at at least one meal geared toward the older kids and boys. I'll still check periodically but I can't lie and say we're not disappointed.

DisneyFanatik - I'm saying a quick prayer for your husband.

Can someone fill me in please? I don't want to read the whole thread but I understand a character dining option will be offered at MGM. Which restaurant? and the start date is up in the air I gather? :confused3

I have just stumbled ascoss this thread, as I begin our trip planning each year at this time.

We went to Disney as a family for the first time in December 2002. We have been back every year in December. My oldest son is 7 now. Since our first trip and since we became Disney addicted, I mean hooked, I have been asking about a BOY CHARACTER meal and emailing them (per the Disney Dining CM's suggestion) requesting such a meal. This stemmed from meeting Buzz inside the park and we thought it would be even better if we saw him at a meal (nothing like being rushed through a character greeting line and asking your 3 year old to warm up to Buzz really fast so you can get a good picture).

It is frustrating to read about all the people who are interested in a meal like this and all the people who have requested this kind of experience. And because I have been asking for 4 years, as well as other who have been calling and emailing the same request, I personally don't feel too confident it will happen. Although if it does, we would go in a heartbeat. :yay:

And I think Disney would benefit by hosting BOTH a preschool meal (Bear, Jo Jo, etc.) and a Big Kid meal (Buzz, Power Rangers, etc.), as would many families.

I don't think they would have a problem filling both venues, as long as they keep it to one TS credit and no picture package, thank you very much :teeth:

This will be a wait and see game. But WHY NOT do it already before my 7 year old is 18 years old and won't hang out with me anymore? :sad2:
