I was very disappointed with the new Studio tour. It's much shorter than it used to be, and it isn't very informative. For example, with the old Robin Williams movie they showed you how a film was animated, from the storyboarding, to drawing the individual cels, then the coloring and clean up work. The new film shows none of that - just the announcer saying things like "And here's Mushu's animation team..." (cut to a group of people waving at the camera). I agree the film was dated, but the new one is not an improvement.
I also miss the film they showed at the end of the tour with the clips from all the classic movies. Gone also is the time spent with an animator who actually makes a drawing and answers questions.
We did the studio tour in December, before they fired everyone, and even then we were commenting that it looked like the place was vacant and the desks where you used to see animators at work had a musuem-like feel to them. It's sad to think of all those people out of a job now.
