My husband and I are planning to take a trip to Mexico this coming fall. We're looking to stay at an Adult's Only all-inclusive. It's looking like this fall (between Sept-Nov) is our options for going. I was originally planning on booking through Expedia as they were the lowest cost. We've used them before (for domestic travel) with no problems- once our reservations were made always able to just deal directly with the hotel or airline on anything that came up. But I'm worried because I know it's hurricane season for the time period we are looking at going. If there is an issue with weather and things aren't going well, will the Expedia bookings be a problem? Would we be better off purchasing through a regular TA? (although this is always come out to be at least a couple hundred dollars more when I price things out.) I'm guessing trip insurance would be needed. I remember I bought this privately for our cruise as it was much cheaper than buying Disney's. Is that an option if I book through Expedia? Appreciate any thoughts anyone may have!

My coworker and her bf got stuck in Cabo last summer with that hurricane. They didn't buy trip insurance and purchased their vacation through Expedia. Expedia refunded them the entire amount of the trip after they finally made it home! I couldn't believe it especially since they watched that hurricane churn out there for a week before they left and could have postponed the vacation. I would buy trip insurance just to be on the safe side because it's not guaranteed that you would have the same luck.

I have a TA who specializes in Mexico and will price match anything you find. We have used her for several trips and she really knows her business. I like having the piece of mind knowing that we have a TA if anything goes wrong; the one trip we booked through Orbitz I was a little nervous. We use insuremytrip.com for travel insurance. They offer many different policies and you can choose what type and how much coverage you want. It usually runs us about $130 for 2 adults for 1 week in Mexico.

If you want the TA information let me know and I will pm you her email. She has traveled all over Mexico and knows which resorts are the best. What I like the most about her is that she will get back to you with answers quickly.
