Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

Hi All,
I have been looking at the site for a while now. I figured that it was time to join. I am traveling on the July 20 Mexican cruise. In our stateroom it is DS8, my Mom and I.

We can't wait.:cool1:

:welcome: aboard Dlandfan!

I'm Laura - don't know if your new to the boards or not but I noticed that you had only 1 post. Before you can PM (private Message) anyone - you have to have more than 10 messages. So just start posting. Tell us a bit about yourself in many messages and that will help get your count up.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for all of the support, guys.:grouphug: DH still thinks the DCL will be boring! :sad2: I asked him what he thought was fun and got no reply.

The kids and I are totally stoked! We have pirate costumes for the kids, have our formal clothes for formal night, and I just put a big order in with Amazon.com for all the necessities (suction hooks, collapsible hamper, Bonine, sunblock, etc) we will need.

I'm really hoping there will be DCL on the West Coast permanently after the two new ships are built. I know I'd like to make cruising a habit!;)

DH said no to WDW next summer because this cruise is putting a dent in the vacation budget as it is. I am supposed to go to Orlando for a conference next July and will feel pretty guilty:guilty: if I go to WDW and my kids don't get to. I was also thinking of trying to book a 4-day onboard for while I am back in Orlando for the conference. We'll see how the DH likes the Mexican Riviera first!

Kerri

Kerri - if you any any questions, don't be afraid to ask - DH gets every kind of sick and he usually does pretty well on the big boat. Course we stay away from smaller ones - the tender is Cabo is pretty horrendous for him so I feel for you. Also, keep in mind that the medical center has motion sickness pills for free in case you forget them. Also, Ginger Ale - which they have onboard now - seems to help too.

ANother couple of comment - you might find the 4 day a bit fast for you after the 7 day. DH and I first did a 3-day to see if he could handle it. He could - so the next year we took the kids and In-Law and my mom and dad on a 4-day. My mom and dad are very simple folks, they had never done anything like it before - they loved it! I think its the Disney pixiedust:.

Anyway, my DH sounds like your DH - just don't let him get you down - as long as he's letting you go - we'll change his mind once onboard. Besides, it seems to be this DIS thing, DH doesn't understand it either. Oh well, at least he's being introduced to it in small doses - can you imagine being introduced to it with over 300 people on the ship? :lmao: That may constitute a major-turn-off - all those Disney freaks! :rotfl2:

:welcome: WELCOME!!!!please go to the first page and give me your info ( if you want) so I can add you to the list. I cant wait either :woohoo: just can nver seem to get enough of the DCL :thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

Thanks for keeping the page going. This is our firs cruis. We have 2nd seating for dinner. We are in Northern CA.

Thanks for updating us on the 1st page.

I'm new to DIS and new to crusing! This will be our first cruise! I'm really excited. I love Disneyland and we go one or two time per year. I am also traveling with my sister, BIL and DN. My DH is not into Disney and he said that it was not worth the cost to him. So he is staying at home and my son and I and rooming with my Mom. Oh well, we will have fun.

I keep looking at the day trips and trying to pick out what we want to do. The big thing that everyone wants to do is the dolphin swim. I hope we can book one given that we can't book until 70 days out.

Hey DL Fan - BTW, may I ask your name? Keep in mind that even if they show sold out on the site, DCL - although they won't admit it will keep just a few slots open for those w/o internet access. They say they don't but I've almost always have been able to get onboard and check into it. Only twice in the entire 10 years have I been denied - and one of those reasons was because the excursion itself had been cancelled. Stick with the hope that you'll be able to sign on. If not, then my suggestions would be to get onboard ASAP on embarkation day. Then hightail it to the excursions desk and ask for this. If it is full, ask if they have a waiting list. If they don't, then given enough time, you can always check into it privately. Many times I've gone private and have been on the same excursions as DCL with many a savings.

:welcome: aboard and if you have any questions, many of us are "experts" and could probably answer just about any questions.

Hi Laura,
I'm Stacey. Thanks for the information on the day trips. I'll keep the back up plan of checking into them once we are on the ship. We are arriving the day before so, we plan on getting to the ship early. This being our first cruise we want to be able to get a feel for the ship.

I'm sure as we get closer may questions will come up.

My DH just might need to file divorce papers :rotfl2: After he expressly said we as a family will not be going to Orlando next summer, I went ahead and asked for a quote from DU for a 4-day cruise and 4 days at WDW. I just have a feeling that DH needs a little time to change his mind, and rates will be higher if I wait until our July cruise to book and pay the deposit. Besides, it's all refundable, right?;) And we need to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary somehow, if we make it that long!;)

Just got DD the very cute Hannah Montana dress they are selling at the Disney Store for the cruise. (hoping linky works)<http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/DSIProductDisplay?catalogId=10007&storeId=10601&productId=1219939&langId=-1&categoryId=21120> The kids are always better dressed than I am!
Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Hey Kerri - DH fought me in the beginning - he learned that once onboard - I left him alone - he's been ok with it. 'Sides - they always complain about the $$. My answer to that is I'd rather spend it and get the kids used to spending family vacation time together. (Our family times are not that often) 'Sides - what other way can I influence the girls to marry someone that can afford their vacation habits? They'd have to go to college and find that one person. Or marry into it. Just Kidding. To me - memories are priceless and family ones? Well you can't put a price on that. While the kids complain, this is really the only time they don't give me WWIII for dressing up and taking pictures. Its a mandatory requirement if they want to go on the cruise. They don't have to sit with us at dinner (which they usually then do) but they do have to show up for the picture.

hello my cruising peeps! My DS is so excited to make some friends this time. He was just so interested in exploring the ship last time and was not terribly interested in the clubs, but this time he is really looking forward to them. We can't wait! Not much longer! Yipppeee!

Hey to all!

We too are going on the July 20th Mexican Riviera. This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, but will be traveling with several newbies!! Sibling family reunion on DH's side - altogether there will be 14 of us ranging in ages of 3 to 47. We will all be on deck 2. DH and I have two DS ages 13 and 16. They are very excited about our 3rd cruise. This will be our 1st 7 night, our other ones were 4 nights on the Wonder. :cool1:

:welcome: everybody! Glad to see more people posting. Hey Mickeys #1 Fan - we will be traveling with a large group - I think -- they may fizzle out but that's ok - they won't know what they are missing. Your going to love the 7 nights. Plus its on our side of the world now! :thumbsup2

Welcome too - Frye7127! Lots more people joining now - maybe we can get some more action on here. Sounds like fun - have any of you guys had much dealings with the DIS? I think we had sailed about 4 -5 times before I became aware of the DIS. Now - I can't seem to stay off of it - Here's a post I posted elsewhere - but I will post it here to show what an addiction this can be.

:wave2: everyone - my turn to get sick. Got hit pretty hard on Saturday with what I suspect was some bad :fish: from McDee's. Did I mention how I've always hated that place? But it was Friday after all. Who knows. I felt something Sat morn and by Sat evening - I think I even posted I wasn't feeling well. Took to my bed and woke up Sunday - totally grossed out.

Did I mention to anyone how much of a baby I am when it comes to stomach ailments? I would prefer to have a baby than to be nauseous. This is almost as bad as a gallbladder attach. Anyway, got up a few minutes and am going to head back to bed - and if anyone knows me at all - that means I am totally  - my kids refer to me as the engine that never stops.

I feel the most bad for my furrkids - they wanted a walk so bad but momma was just too sick. Maybe with time change I can managed a walk around the block. We shall see. Later all!

Ok - folks - going to lay down for a minute - still feel a bit

Laura,

Sorry to hear your feeling under the weather but here's some pixiedust:
to make you feel better.

Take good care, :flower3:

Thanks Brandy! Spoke with my mom today - she said I needed a good old dose of sunshine to make me feel better. For some reason - I don't go out too much. It was a beautiful day here about 84 and sunny. Got the furbabies out in front for about 10 minutes which is all I could muster. They seemed satisfied with that.

Let's see - anyone get a chance to look at the excursions yet? What seems to be the plan?

I been looking but have not decided what we want to do. I think we just may wing it.

We are actually originally from the east coast side. We have only been in the state of CA for 2-1/2 years. Bummed that I still haven't made it to DL but will make it there soon. Thinking of participating in the DL 1/2 marathon in August this year.

Question for anyone that may know...... DH and I are return cruisers and can book excursions and Palos earlier than the rest of our group. Can we book Palos and possibly the excursions as though we are one big group. I'm afraid if we book at the 90 day mark and they book at the 75 day mark we won't get the same Palo reservations or excursions. Should we wait to book when they can? We are all assigned the same dinner seating although I was told they can't do a table for 14, but on our 4 day Wonder Cruise in '05 we had 13 of us and we were all at the same table. I was told that they'd have to seat us at separate tables but they would be close together. Would really rather be all together seeing how we all live in different parts of the country and would like to spend as much time together as possible. It will kind of a bummer being at different tables.

Hi Patsy - again - welcome aboard. My suggestion would be for you to book Palo's - depending on how many are in your personal cabin - and if they are over 18 - you are limited. Also, just book it and then call to see if you can do anything about it. If they can't help you then, try again on embarkation day. If you have any over 18 with you - book them and then switch out the names later.

On the 11-Nighter we had a table of 14. We were originally a couple of tables but on the 2nd night, they put them together. So all you can do is ask. Course we all had the same waiter. It helps if that is the case. Just try and let them know ahead of time.

Back to Palo's - on the Med last year - we had two cabins, one of the cabins had 2 newcomers and 1 CC member - due to the CC member - we were able to book 2 Palo's but couldn't ge them together - we got 8 pm and 8:30 pm. Once we boarded we went to Palo's and got them moved to one table of 5 instead of 2 separate appts of 2 and three. In the future, its probably best to see if you can get 2 CC members in different cabins. IE - I would be listed first in one cabin and DH would be listed in another. This way if anything changed - at least we would be able book at the 90 day mark.

Someone on our EBPC cruise tried to book at the 90 day mark but the couple they were linked too were newbies. The system did not allow them to book. Just try and book and then complain and ask. Disney usually does all it can to get you teogether.

Hope this helps.
