Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos
eeyorelvr, it's getting close for you. Did they have some great Excursions for the Med cruise? Sure would have liked to do that cruise but not up to the flight. To many hrs from Ca. about 14 each way...yuck!!!!

By the way I looked for Vern and kept missing him also...his friends did give him a message that were hunting for him :rotfl2:

Have a great day all and I will check back later.
Hi Robin - yup - getting closer and closer - also more and more nervous.

I have signed up for an excursion in every port. Most of the excursions are lengthy in the Med. And also, extremely expensive. :sad2: Had I known that DCL was so expensive especially over there - and still planned on coming out here in '08 - I'd not of booked the Med. I never dreamed it would be so expensive. As we are a family 5 +1 BFF - excursions alone will run OVER $7000. Then take into consideration that we will be staying 2 nights prior in Barcelona and 1 week after in Paris and on-site for 3 nights - OY! :faint: I should have planned better.

Yeah - the Flight from LAX to London itself is over 11 hrs, then 1.45 layover only to get back on a plane to Barcelona! Double :faint: :faint:

Seriously, not too smart on my behalf. I was just so excited on finally being able to do my high school goal of traveling Europe - geez, see what it got me - regrets and remorse. But I do intend to have fun!

Hey - I know Ken - We were on the same 11 night cruise - the 11 nights in paradise cruise on the Wonder last Sept 17th - wow - yeah I was going to go on the Atlantic repo but things came up (such as Mexican Rivera and I made an executive decision as I wanted to spend it with friends.) We're the family celebrating 2 birthday and 3 anniversaries on the July 20-27 cruise the one before yours. Along with sailing with several first timers. WOW - what a small world!!!

We actually leave LAX on July 25th at 6 pm and staying in Barcelona on what is known as Las Ramblas. We are less than 1 mile from the port and after disembarkation, we will be spending 4 nights in Paris and on Sunday 8/12 we will be transferring to Sequoia Lodge on Disneyland Paris property. We decided to do that as only because at the last minute we became DVC members and were able to book the Sequoia Lodge for the 6 of us. The good thing about Paris is you get Length of Stay passes included in the booking. So even though I'm sure we're not saving any $ in the long run, it sounds like we are when I tell DH that the entrances to DL Paris and MGM Studios is covered! :thumbsup2

LOL - anyway, that's my info. Sorry to read your not coming with us but as you can imagine - I so totally get your point on the expensiveness - I'm still trying to tally up in my head how many years I have to hear from DH on how expensive this TOAL (Trip of a Lifetime) was! :faint:

Oh well, memories last a lifetime right? :rotfl2: OK - talk later.

Well we may miss each other this time but we can meet when we do the cruise in 2011 on the new ships maiden voyage:thumbsup2
And your right the memories do last a life time and you never know what comes your way that in the future will keep you from being able to travel
so do it while you can.

There are other things that we could use our $$$ on but my kids will not always be 10 and 13 so we will get as many family vacations in that God will let us. We are traveling addicts and have to do a big vacation every year. We do small ones in between.

I can tell you that you are blessed to be able to go on the DCL to the Med and full fill your dream of doing it. That Rocks!!!!! WE were just at DL a few weeks ago and in Dec we did 5 days at WDW and 10 day Christmas cruise and I have the travel itch again...geesh

WE will be doing our regular every summer camping trip for 10 days and also DL again for about 5 days and than Vegas in November for 5 days but need another cruise. Hope I can last till next next summer ;)

Are there a lot of DISers on your cruise?

Bump :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hope everyone is ready for summer! Just a little over a week of school left!:cool1:

We will be moving right after school is out. Our new town is Jonesboro, IL if it needs to be changed on first page. I'm sooooo excited :cloud9: although the actual moving part isn't fun.:scared1:

I plan on talking to TA after school is out about adding some time on at Disneyland before cruise. We are also considering sea world, universal studios, and San Diego zoo. Any advice?

Yes all of the above:thumbsup2 We are doing 7 days there. We will be going to DL for 4 days, Universal, Knotts, and Ragging Waters. We are yearly pass holders at Sea World and the zoo and the wild animal park so wil skip those ;) .

If you head down here to SanDiego expect to hit traffic. If you leave at the right time and head back late you will be okay for the most part. It will take you a couple hrs. Me it takes about 1 hr 10 minutes to get to and from DL leaving at the right times.

Moving is a drag...well the packing and unpacking anyway. I will change the first page. Still can't believe that there are hardley any DISers that have checked in here yet :confused3 it is the same over at the other thread for the week that I am going. I am all alone over there know because the other 2 posters are on the Med cruise right know .:lmao:

Am so looking forward to that summer ...as Mickey says on his wake up calls on the ship"Time to wake up because ther are lots of doings going on"....I definatly will have lot's of doings going on that summer :thumbsup2

Well will check back later to see if you or anyone else has stopped in. Have a great day and chat later :hippie:

I/We decided we like the beaches of the Caribbean better........going in that direction instead! Have a great trip!!

Hola to you all!

We are going to the MexRiv for our 4th DCL adventure:woohoo: . So far, it is DH, DSD (will be 12 by then) and myself. We are hoping to talk a lot of family and friends into going to play with us.

I will be checking in pretty regularly:surfweb: ; we met some friends on our last cruise (WestCar May 4-11) who turned me on to this site.

DH and I live about 10 min from DL, so I will be happy to answer any questions. Plus, maybe we could arrange a Pre-cruise dinner for some of you out-of-towners. party: Start the Magic early!!

TTFN! Ta-Ta for Now!

:welcome: Connie YOung - may I assume your name is Connie? The board is kinda slow as not too many sane people are as Disney fanatics as we are but as we get closer to sailing date I'm sure that it'll pick up. I check back periodically to bump us up.

Glad you can join us. You are doing what I did. This week we celebrate 2 birthdays, 2 anniversaries and the week before we sail we would have celebrated 1 more birthday. Hence my party is a party of 10 or 11 depending on the situation. We are spread out amongst 3 cabins and I'm still looking to recruit more friends. They're just not a crazy a fanatic as I am.

Anyway, welcome aboard and make sure to check in often - it'll bump us up on the board. ;)

Hi Robin - been busy with last minute reservations and stuff. We are scheduled to leave on July 25th arriving in Barcelona on July 26th. We sail on July 28. But I have some other news  :woohoo:

Some friends managed to twist my arm and I am doing the TransAtlantic repo cruise. They were having some great special and for what I'm paying for this cruise for one person for 1 week I get to do 2 weeks! That's right - I am doing the repo cruise and I'm doing it solo!

Turns out there are several out there that will be going it solo so I am in touch with them. Also, a couple of friends of mine are going. They're the ones that booked me on it and since I was afraid they'd break my arm (:lmao: ) I had to acquiese or go around with a broken arm!

So, while the family leaves Charles De Gual on Aug 15th. I will be detouring back to Barcelona and resting for 3 days before I board the Magic back to PC, FL.

I'm nervous and excited but I think I will have a grand old time of it. I debated on going but since Gibralter was one my lists of places to visit before I die - I just had to go for it. DD and DH said I might as well got for it. And they agreed to fly out to WDW on Labor Day weekend and pick me up.

Since I have become a DVC member and that is low season, we are staying at either Saratoga Springs or trying for Key West for a 1 bedroom as a way of trying out our points. Either that or banking them.

So, as of now - I will be "permantly on summer vacation" doing the cruising thing from July 25th - Sept 4th. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Everyone else gets to come home on Aug 15th.

I'm so lucky! But you know - just realized that after the family vacation - I usually need a lot of solitude time. And boy is this one way to get it! :lmao:

So anyway, that's what's been up with me. How about you?

Ok, here we are:

Connie (that's me); 44:princess:
George DH; 48 :darth:
Kimberly DSD; will be 12:cheer2:

We are from the OC, we have second seating for dinner, but I think we are going to switch to earlier. We are Cat 7, probably on Deck 7, but hoping for Pixie Dust Upgrade this time around! :tink:

Thought I'd talk to myself to bump us up the thread...:drive:

Anyway, I am green with envy, eeyorelvr10. The thought of a long transatlantic solo cruise is sheer heaven!:cloud9:

I would have never thought of cruising alone, only because my DH likes to cruise as much as I do. The difference is, he likes to cruise because of all the fun stuff to do, on the ships and then in the ports. I like to relax and kick back, and have fun eating all the wonderful meals. I also love to be spoiled rotten by all the service!princess:

Hi Connie - I was just trolling around before signing off and read your quote. Well, the update is that I WAS traveling alone. As of today,, I now have a roomie. She is someone that I met and have since struck up a friendship last Sept. How weird is this - you spend 11 Nights with cross-country strangers and you end up being great friends. LOL - On Mother's day - her b-day was the day before, I flew out with her and her husband and met up with some of our other tablemates from the Sept cruise. It was a blast.

I was already booked to do the Med and then this awesome deal came up to do the Repo. It was too good to pass up. Became an even better deal with I got a roomy! Then later on today - I got upgraded to a balcony for only $120 dollars more than a fantastic deal. Its great. Im sure that I will miss my girls - human and doggie - but I just can't pass up this opportunity.

Cat 12 and got upgraded to a verandah! I love it.

Anyway, things are pretty slow at this board due to the far away sail date but I check on here every once in a while.

Glad to see your all going. DH likes to sail too but obviously not as much as I do. Can you tell? Chech out my new siggie line. We just got our new Med banner. We all love it.

HHHHMMMMMM, anyone think its too early to think of one for our cruise? :rotfl2:

I can totally relate to making new friends so quickly. It doesn't surprise me that you got so close in a cruise, especially DCL. You already have one thing in common - the mouse - so we already have something to talk about. If you have kids, all the better.

The first cruise we took was a 3 day Wonder. The family that sat with us did not speak very much English at all. There were two little girls, and my DSD was only eight, and very shy. Our first dinner was Animator's. By the end of dinner, those girls were chattering with each other as if they'd known each other forever! "Mickey!" "Minnie!" "Goofy!" It's a universal language.

At any rate, it's great you have a roomie; someone to help foot the bill:thumbsup2 You can spend more on souvies for yourself!!

Now you've got me thinking about a banner for our cruise. Are you telling me that it's the DISers that are making these cool banners? I was talking to my husband last night and showing him yours. I especially like the "Taking Back the Magic". That's great!.

Yup - all the banners have been created by someone on the thread. We have a lot of crafty and artistic people. However, I do believe he may have had some inspiration from DCL. ;)

The good part is that we have just over 1 year to design it! LOL
