Mexican Riviera Cruise with WONDERful Souvenir in the Works! 6/7 PTR Link!

OMG!!! I can't believe you just said that. I can't get rid of it because of my dad also. He just suddenly passed away this past April. I know exactly what you mean about losing a little bit of him. It makes so much sense to me. I am sitting here crying now. I know exactly how you feel.

This literally gave me goosebumps. I'm so sorry about your dad. This won't mean much now, but it will get easier. The first year was very rough, the second year was worse (had a HUGE breakdown because I didn't deal with it the first year...kept busy so I wouldn't HAVE to deal with it), and now I can say that I've lived through one of the most horrific times in my life and can definitely live through whatever will come my way next.

The DIS really helped me through as well. I felt very alone because I didn't have many friends that have lost someone close to them, so they couldn't relate, but it was almost a comfort to meet people on here who've dealt with the same thing I went through. So if you ever need to vent or talk, you can always PM me! :goodvibes

Wow, booking excursions and dining already?! This makes it seem so close!

Sorry about what happened to your DH's truck. Sometimes cars are just a headache. :headache: Houses too... :scared1:

I had to catch up here a bit because I didn't get a chance to come here for a few days...I know, major crisis right?! :rotfl2: I went back to work on Tuesday, and it has been a crazy week...but now it's Friday!!!!! :woohoo:

I was wondering where you've been! Then I remembered school must have started for you. And i'm so sorry i'm slacking on your CC TR...I always forget to head over there. I usually have a 'system' when it comes to getting online..

And i've been doing this for so long, I always forget to check out other things! :lmao:

Oh, don't worry about CC...I didn't get a chance to review the last day yet! I meant to do that last weekend before work started again, but we were so busy Labor Day Weekend, that I didn't get a chance to go back on there. And this week I was back at work and so exhausted when I got home, that I didn't go online. The only thing I did was check my work email while I was at work so I culd be updated on everything going on there, in addition to info I got at all those meetings.

I have a routine with the internet too, but the DIS seems to take center stage on days I am short on time! Especially these days, with the planning stages underway. In a few short months I will be making our ADRs, and although I know most of them already, I know the time will go quickly (the Fall always does for us), and before I know it, the day will be here!

Gosh, WHERE has the time gone? Can't believe it's already time to make reservations for dining and excursions. And guess what?! We STILL haven't officially figured out what we're doing yet! :rotfl2:

Also, I can't book until later this evening. The transfer needs to go through from DCL to Dreams Unlimited, then I pay the amount in full, THEN I make reservations. Tammy had told me that she would give me the new reservation number this afternoon, but i'm counting on it being here this evening. ;)

This is what I know FOR SURE that we want:

Palo Brunch on Monday, Dec 12 (the first day At Sea). If not Monday, then Tuesday, the next day At Sea would be good too. And if that doesn't work then we'll try to do it at one of the Cabo days, where we'll be staying on the boat. I really prefer to kick off the cruise with the brunch though if it's available.

Palo Dinner, if the past navigators are still correct, we'll book it on Pirate Night which will be that Thursday, Dec 15. Otherwise, any other day, except the last night will work for us.

How horrible that we haven't figured out the rest of what we're doing yet. Well we have IDEAS of what we want, it's just not for sure.

I'll update hopefully this evening if I get the new reservation in time! :woohoo:

Wow, 90-day mark already? Boy, that was fast! It feels like you were just talking about your plans for your cruise this past June! :confused3

These next 90 days are gonna fly by, just wait! Before you know it, you will be out on deck waiting to sail, tropical drink in hand! ;)

Can't wait to find out exactly what you book! Hopefully I will make it here again this week, with the madness of work and the kids! Karate and swimming start again this week too! Let's see...how much MORE can I cram into a day?! :scared1:

Those reservations sound great! I hope you get the Brunch the first day, that would be a wonderful way to kick off your cruise!

I didn't realize you had hit the double digit dance! Woohoo for you!

Sorry I didn't update right away.

I'm in charge of booking our usual family vacation to Disneyland in November, and it's just been a total NIGHTMARE.

Anyways, so the reservation transfer from DCL to Dreams Unlimited processed on Monday, the 13th (when I was able to book dining and such) however I needed to pay the vacation in full before I was able to book. DH had the Disney Visa that I wanted to use and the credit processing center closes at 8pm ET. DH didn't get home until 6, so I just submitted the payment, and early the next morning (yesterday), I got an email from DU saying the payment went through and I can start booking excursions!

Here's are schedule....as of now :lmao:;)

Day 1: Port of Los Angeles
Day 2: At Sea - Palo Brunch @ 11:00am
Day 3: At Sea
Day 4: Puerto Vallarta - Outdoor Adventure (mule ride, zip-lining, rappeling) @ 9:00am
Day 5: Cabo San Lucas - Palo Dinner @ 6:00pm
Day 6: Cabo San Lucas - Cabo Beach Resort Getaway @ 8:45am
Day 7: At Sea
Day 8: Port of Los Angeles

I was very surprised to see how many options I was given for both Palo Brunch and Dinner.

We haven't booked a Spa package yet, cus we just don't know what we want. However, i've been reading about the Rainforest Room, and you have to purchase it when you board, and i'm thinking that's something we would enjoy. So i'll probably end up getting this.

This is probably old news, but Princess Cruise Line pulled out of going to Puerto Vallarta on their MR cruises, stating that it was too dangerous. We're a little concerned that IF this is true, why hasn't Disney pulled out as well? And now DH is nervous about doing the excursion that we chose, considering that we have to drive far away from our Port.

I know Mexico is dangerous right now, but what do you guys think? If you had a cruise booked to the MR and heard that another cruise line pulled out of one of the Ports, but DCL didn't, would you still feel safe doing an excursion with your family there?

:scratchin Hmmmmm that's a good question. :confused3 I know that they stopped going to another port because of dangerous activities, was that Mazatlan? I was reading that on someone else's report. My friend who lives in your town went on a cruise about five years ago and said it was good they stopped going there because there military police in vehicles with big guns stationed everywhere to curb violence.

One would imagine that if it's Disney they would be keeping you safe, since they are ultra cautious about that kind of stuff. A friend of mine works for Princess and mentioned that they cater to an older crowd and the half their passengers are in wheelchairs, so that could be another thing factoring in the decision of that cruise line.

On the other hand it looks like you got all the reservations you wanted! Yay for that!

I hope things work out for you for the Disneyland trip. I have my own coming up in just over two weeks and I can't wait! I really need to get away. Not sure why, but I do! :rotfl:

Yep you're correct. They stopped going to Mazatlan. From what I read, there was a few shootings near the port area. Definitely not safe.

Oh you're probably right about the older crowds. :thumbsup2

I'm SO happy we got everything we wanted! As of now, there are still lots of staterooms available on our cruise. I've been checking to see because we're hoping to get upgraded to Ocean view when we check in. If the ships not full, there shouldn't be any issue hopefully! :woohoo:

This year, Disneyland is being very argumentative with me :lmao: Every CM has something different to say and no one is alike with their information. Have you happened to stay at PPH Concierge level? We're probably going to book that since there isn't too much open at GCH.

Hooray for the wonderful reservations you got!!! That Outdoor Adventure sounds like so much fun! Can't wait to see what you think about Palo brunch.

I know Disney puts the safety of their guests at the top of the list, so if they were worried they wouldn't be going. They might hire security, I heard they did that with some of the Adventure trips, but if there was a real danger I'm sure they would pull the cruise completely. I would feel safe taking my family if it was me.

So sorry about the stress of your November trip planning :( Hope it gets better :)

This is exactly what I told DH. I was a little hesitant about telling DH about the article I read regarding Princess, because I knew he would freak out a little. And he did  He's like, "You need to get online right now and send an email to DCL asking if it's safe to go to PV! It's so dangerous in Mexico!" :rotfl: I knew he would be a little dramatic and I told him, that Disney's top priority is the safety of the guests and crew. I'm sure they wouldn't put us in any danger.

On Tuesday, I was just so excited to book all of our cruise excursions, and then I had to turn around and deal with nonsense regarding Disneyland Hotels..it just put me in a confused, angry mood. But things are turning around now as we speak, so now i'm excited about everything again! :yay:

We've only stayed because of our DVC points and it's always been at the GCH/VGC only once did we have to transfer our points out to the DLH. I'm lucky with living 1/2 an hour away to convince Fran to stay out there at all! :rotfl2:

Good luck with your planning!

I'm glad things are turning around and you're feeling better about everything!

If PV is that unsafe, DCL probably wouldn't go there...and when you book an organized excursion through the cruise line, it is the safest way to go. So, you guys should be fine! :thumbsup2

Congrats on such awesome reservations too! Soon enough you will be there, enjoying it all! :goodvibes

1/2 hour away?! WOW, I would never be able to convince DH to stay there if we lived that close! However, we definitely would be there EVERY weekend! ;) Awesome though, that you guys are so close to DL! I can go to other parts of Brooklyn and it would take way more than 1/2 hour! :rotfl2:

Well the half an hour away is on a good day with no traffic. 10 years ago, I never would have been able to convince her, but with all her meds and mobility being what it is today, if we're going to be drinking at all this way she can have a good time and not worry about driving home. Also in our older DVC days, we are starting to enjoy the Disney magic more leisurely! It's tempting to go all the time, but unfortunately there is so much else to do, we don't make it out as often as we like. However, I do know people who go there every Saturday night to hear the swing band in Carnation Gardens and other fun.

He is too funny! Disney would never get another person to buy a cruise vacation if they got one of their guests killed, they're just protecting their own investment by keeping their guests safe!

So glad the DL stress is getting better. But how can CMs be rude in any way? It is just wrong. They're not supposed to argue with customers! Were you able to get something booked?

Hope you get an upgrade for the cruise, that would be so awesome!

From what I have been reading on other TR's, is that the Cabo Beach Resort Getaway is just not worth the price.

I guess, the workers at the resort treat the cruisers differently, from those actually staying at the resort. And I'm sorry, i'm just not going to spend $150 to not have beach loungers and be treated poorly.

So i've been hearing about going to Medano (medrano??) Beach and going to a place called The Office to have lunch and drinks, and then lounge on that beach.

I figure it will be WAY cheaper to just have a taxi or water taxi take us over there, pay for lunch and drinks, AND get some beach time for way less than the CBRG excursion.

Also, I put in a DISign request so that I can make the hubster and I some shirts for when we board (or to wear at some other point during the cruise). Whenever I get my Disign, i'll be sure to post it! :cool1:

Thats exactly what we are going to do. Go to The Office for lunch lounge on the beach but we will take a taxi as the water taxi is not as easy to get in and out of. I just pulled Jackson's sand toys and beach towel out of summer storage and put it in the cruise box. Don't forget your beach shoes if you have them.

Oooh nice! Maybe we'll see you guys down there! :goodvibes

That's what I was reading about too regarding the water taxis. From one of the TR's I was reading, she got some great pics of Pelican Rock and Seal Rock, so i'm going to see if we can maybe get a little tour out of that :lmao:

Hi!!
I ready your TR from the dream (loved it w/all the pics & details!!) and this PTR :) We are going on the Wonder in 6 days!! We are going on our honeymoon and leaving our 2 kiddos behind! I wanted to see how much fun "adults only" cruisers had. Sounds like a blast!

I was going to suggest to you the "Salsa & Salsa" excursion, it just opened up as a new excursion a few weeks ago. I read the reviews on trip advisor and it had wonderful reviews! I think you guys would like it 1- because your foodies and you get to eat and learn new recipes :) (so are we!) 2-unlimited margaritas! It also includes a salsa lesson, which I thought was fun :)

I am going to follow this report, you guys sound like so much fun!

Hi Jessica!

Please, please, PLEASE come back here when you return from your trip! I need to hear all about it.

Are you the first of the Fall group to go to Mexico? Or was the first cruise this past week? I know a couple weeks ago, the Wonder was in Alaska, so i'm wondering if you're the first group to go to the MR! :cool1:

I NEED to hear all about it POR FAVOR! ;)

Oh, and I had seen that excursion, but DH was NOT for it! He hates dancing. Even if it does include unlimited margs, he still won't do it. :sad2: I, on the other hand, LOVE to dance! I think it's the funnest thing in the world! Hope you enjoy it. What other excursions are you guys doing?
