Mexican Riviera Cruise with WONDERful Souvenir in the Works! 6/7 PTR Link!

I love your TR of New England!! We love that area!!! In 2003 (B.C.,.....Before Children! :rotfl2:), DH had graduated from the Swedish Institute (as a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist), and for his gift, I gave him a week-long road trip through the New England states. We first drove to Stowe, Vermont and we stayed 2 nights at a small resort there. We met up with a family friend who was still in college out there, and he took us into Burlington which was great. We toured the Ben & Jerry's Factory, and also watched a demonstration on how maple syrup is made. It was great. Then, we drove up to Bar Harbor, Maine and stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn for 2 nights. We were in the heart of everything and didn't use the car those 2 days. We got to experience a New England Lobster Bake, and we had lobsters right out of the harbor! It was amazing. And yes, the lobster rolls we ate for lunch were really great too. We took a tour into Acadia National Park and up Cadillac Mountain...beautiful views! And the weather was great there...it was mid-August but it was around 60-65 during the day and in the low 40s at night! From there, we drove down to Newport, RI and stayed for 3 nights. We toured the mansions and we had a great time. It was a fantastic trip!

And I also love the shirt design you posted! :thumbsup2

Your cruise is getting close...very very close!! :cool1:

He goes to the Barrier Brewing Co. It is by us. They have different beers they brew every weekend.

I got the magnet paper on Amazon. Here is the link to what I ordered. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006HN5Q
They came out great on it and were easy to cut. They stayed up nice on the door as well. We now have them on our refrigerator...haha We took so many pictures of them it was ridiculous. I think people look at them on my facebook page and are like ok what is with all the magnet pictures..haha But I loved how they came out. I had too much fun making them for everyone.

Thanks for the link!

I'll definitely check this out. After I had sent my last post, I went to Hobby Lobby and had purchased those strip magnets, where you cut it at whatever length you want, and apply it to the design. But I have a feeling those aren't going to last long, and I want to be able to keep my magnets for a long time, so i'll probably end up buying the ones you bought.

Did you ever go to the Donut shop on 7th Street between Walnut and Gaviota across from the Bai-Plu Thai and Aki Sushi Bar in Long Beach? They have the best donuts!

If you are up in the SF Bay Area (Cupertino to be specific) you have to try the Donut Wheel on Saratoga Sunnyvale Road off the 280! :thumbsup2

The Donut tour of California! Then you could take the 101 up to Portland!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm trying to remember all the donut places I frequented...I remember Favorite Donut and Broadway Donuts. I also went to the little bakery near my apartment on PCH once in a while. And when I was working at Starbucks, they sold Top Pot Donuts (out of Seattle I believe) and they're VERY good.

Honestly, I would be SO down to do a donut tour! Could you imagine how much weight I would gain? Seriously? All I would be doing is sitting in a car for hours and hours eating maple bars, chocolate donuts, devil's food donuts, old fashioned donuts, sugar twists, etc, etc!!!:eek::love:

Don't tempt me ;)

Love the shirt Disign!!! So cute! I can't see the second magnet to vote, it has a little red x, don't know if that's my computer. I was wondering if we'd get to hear about your New England trip, sounds like so much fun! You guys are just so cute together :)

I know how you feel about donuts, cake donuts are my favorite, blueberry and sourcream, but chocolate cake is up there too. Yummy!

Oh no! I can see all the magnets. Maybe you need to refresh again?? :confused3

Oooh when there used to be a Krispy Kreme here, they used to make AMAZING blueberry cake donuts and glazed chocolate cake donuts :cloud9::cloud9: Oh man, do I miss Krispy Kreme :sad2: They had a drive thru too, which made me felt even worse about myself :rotfl:

Dan was pretty bummed that we weren't close enough to visit the Ben & Jerry's Factory :sad2:

That entire area is just amazingly gorgeous! I couldn't even begin to think how it looks like in the Fall over there:love:

Lol, I was just talking to Dan, and he said, "How many days do we have left till our trip?" and I said, 2 months and 15 days. And he replied, "I'm still fat." Then turned to continue playing his Xbox 360! :rotfl:

Thanks, it's there now. I prefer the ones with the little stars on the border, but I usually like a little pizzaz :)

I used to love Krispy Kreme! They closed down around there though. It was so sad to see the building empty :(

Dan's not the only one, I've got to jump on the weight loss wagon or our March cruise is going to be a disaster! (he's not fat though :) he's too funny! )

Hiiiii!!!!! Here I am!!! I have soooo much catching up to do!!!!!:hug::hug:

YAYYYY!!! Glad you're here!!! :cool1::banana::dance3:

I guess I should be somewhat thankful that there is no Krispy Kreme near me anymore...that could be horrible. Especially right now. Losing pounds is way harder for me this time around compared to this past cruise. I'm not really sure why i'm having a hard time. I'm thinking it's because I KNEW it was going to be bathing suit weather when we went to the Bahamas in June, but i'm not quite sure what to expect for Mexico. So i'm not motivated! :lmao: But i'm trying. I'm sure once it hits the one month mark, i'll get down to it, but by then Thanksgiving right around the corner and i'm sure all will be lost at that point! :rotfl:

At least you have a little bit of time before your cruise to tighten things up :thumbsup2

Either that or you're getting older! :rotfl2: I noticed you took off the little bouncies with your ages. Just try losing weight after 40! I'm sure you'll look great regardless!

You looked fantastic in your cruise photos! I'm just hoping I can look semi ok :rotfl: If I really get on the ball now I can do it. Don't talk about Thanksgiving yet! We don't do a traditional dinner, but we still make lots of deliciousness.

You looked wonderful in your pics from your June cruise!!! I'm sure you still look fantastic! But I completely understand what you mean about motivation...especially this time of year around here! Soon it will be winter coat and sweater season, so a LOT less motivation!

Thanksgiving is a complete weakness for me too! There are only 9 of us that will be at my sister's house, but we will still have tons of pies, desserts, and food! I like turkey...it's OK and all...but the side dishes are the main thing for me (hello candied sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top!), and of course the desserts! And yes, I am making the chocolate pecan pie again! Oh, and I ordered some spice pumpkins from the Swiss Colony...mini pimpkin spice cakes with cream cheese filling, covered in orange-colored white chocolate (looks like a mini pumpkin). Yeah, I could easily devour about a half dozen of those in less than a minute! :lmao:

OK, I better go do some cardio now...I walked into the bakery after work today to get the cake for Rosh Hashana, and I took a deep breath...instant 5-pound weight gain! :rotfl:

:lmao: I AM getting old!!! I took off the bouncies because my signature was getting humungous! I don't know how to make all my font smaller so that I can get my bouncies back :confused3

We have the Mexican thanksgiving (on my mom's side) which has turkey BUT we also have tamales and LOTS of Mexican side dishes. Then we go to DH's side of the family which is half Mexican/half traditional dishes, THEN the next day, my DH and I, have our own intimate Thanksgiving dinner  I'm in HUGE trouble this year. I've never took a vacation where I need to wear a bikini right after the holidays, so this is going to be rough. PLUS I have Disneyland the weekend before Thanksgiving, and obviously, Disney makes great baked goods and food, so......:sad2:

I think you're going to have to give me that recipe again for the pecan pie. I know you gave it to me last year, but i'm not sure where I placed it :confused3 Oh goodness, sweet potatoes with marshmallows are to die for!

Okay, so I looked up those spiced pumpkins you were talking about....why did I just put them in my cart? :lmao::sad2: I'm so pathetic! :rotfl:

However, I will give me a thumbs up for what I just did right now. I realized I didn't have any dessert for tonight for after dinner, so I started to make this delicious cinnamon coffee cake, but decided against it! I was strong! :rotfl: But now this, Swiss Colony, completely through me off, and now i'm craving something sweet.:sad2:

There are only 9 of us that will be at my sister's house,

Now this cracked me up, I've only had nine once maybe twice and that's when both parents were living and we had Apartment Managers to invite over. We'll be a max of 5! :rotfl2:

:lmao: I AM getting old!!! I took off the bouncies because my signature was getting humungous! I don't know how to make all my font smaller so that I can get my bouncies back :confused3

Same way you change it in the message, when you go to Edit Signature, highlight the text you want smaller and use the size thingy. I had to make my stuff small to cram it all in too! :lmao: :thumbsup2

I think you're going to have to give me that recipe again for the pecan pie.

Paula Deen has a good Chocolate Pecan Pie recipe on the foodnetwork site and it's super easy! I've made it a few times.

Try sugar free jello! :sad2: 10 calories, but it can hit the spot. I just had one! :rotfl2:

Your cruise will be here before you know it and you posted something that got me thinking..what happened to all the Krispy Creme Donuts??? Your post made me realize I haven't seen any around here (western NJ)in a while either..I've had to make due with Dunkin:rotfl:

Oh and your tshirt design is adorable..I can't wait til my cruise is closer waaaa!!

Bonnie, those spiced pumpkins are so good!!! There is nothing like them that I've ever found. I haven't been able to get them for a couple years, they havnt had the sugar free which breaks my heart. (can't eat sugar it gives me severe headaches) but those things are delectable!

I use the Neely's recipe for chocolate pecan pie, from the Food Network. They Neely's recently opened a BBQ restaurant in Manhattan, and I am dying to go there...I will make it there at some point! I think it will be a great place to go once the weather gets colder!

Yes, Swiss Colony pics and their website will give you cravings...try receiving their catalog...it gets me EVERY time! By the way, there are ways to get free gifts from them...go to retailmenot.com, type in their company name, and you will see a code for a free chocolate assortment! But don't type the code into "promo codes"...type it into the search for items and it will come up. Just what I need...more sweets! :lmao:

Now I am trying to figure out what to order from Swiss Colony for New Year's Eve. It's at our house this year and I always make some sort of specialty dessert also. The last couple of times, we put out our chocolate fountain with lots of treats for dipping, but this year I am going to make that warm chocolate cake in the slow cooker! It's my niece's favorite and she will be very happy! But I always order some sort of dessert from the Swiss Colony too...like petits fours or bon-bons...I call them "dessert appetizers"! :lmao: They have some new items this year, like little chocolate cakes filled with fudge, with a hint of hot pepper (or is it chili powder?) to bring out the flavor of the chocolate...and then covered in chocolate! They are the same size as the spiced pumpkins, but chocolate instead! Ahh, the possibilities... ;)

Now this cracked me up, I've only had nine once maybe twice and that's when both parents were living and we had Apartment Managers to invite over. We'll be a max of 5! :rotfl2:

Try sugar free jello! :sad2: 10 calories, but it can hit the spot. I just had one! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: One time I had 18 people at my house for Thanksgiving...and I was 4 months pregnant with my little one! :rotfl2:

You are right, sugar free jello can really take away that sweet craving! :thumbsup2

I live in NY and I have noticed (actually a few years ago) that they were slowly closing down. I haven't seen one in awhile.

I live in Brooklyn, and there are more of them all the time here...they just seem to keep on popping up! Kind of like Starbucks in Manhattan! :thumbsup2

Sorry they don't make the spiced pumpkins in sugar free. :sad2: But they do have a lot of sugar free options, like petits fours...and their petits fours are sooo good!

Oh wow the Neelys have a place in NYC now that's news I can use:rotfl: I watch their show on The Food Network. We take the train in to the city all the time to see plays and visit friends so I must try this place. Also you have Krispy Creme in Brooklyn??? Hmmm not fair;) Lucky you though! The last time I had one was on the Dream.

I've tried to get the entire signature smaller, but it won't work. Then i've tried just getting the top part smaller (all the trips) and that doesn't get smaller either...I'll try it again.

You know what, I've heard about them and have seen them at the store, but was worried about the after taste. Maybe i'll give them a shot.

I know! All the KK's have been disappearing around here too. And you're so lucky to live where you are. When we were back there, every exit seemed to have a Dunkin's! And i'd always say, "Well, i'm done with my coffee from the first stop, let's make another stop" and we would! Love that place!

I'm actually going to attempt to print the design on to that transfer paper right now. I've never done this before. I bought a shirt from Kohl's last night for 3 bucks so if this doesn't work, i'll just go buy another one and try it again.

Oh that's right the Neely's! Thank you! Please check out that place soon! I love watching the Neely's on the Food Network. They make such a great team and make some delicious food!

I was talking to my mom yesterday and asked her if she was familiar with Swiss Colony. Then she said, remember years and years ago when I used to buy Petit Fours? That's where I got them from! The petit fours were soooo good! I always knew it was winter time when those delightful treats came in! :cloud9: She had stopped buying them for whatever reason, but now because of me (well, really because of you ;)) she's looking into ordering some petit fours again! :yay:..:sad2:

Oh yes, I know about the petit fours :cloud9: problem is I can eat the entire box within a few days. I actually emailed Swiss Colony about the sugar free pumpkins (after you reminded me about them :) ) and their reply was that unfortunately sometimes old products get pushed out to make room for new products, which to me means they're not making them any more :sad1: I will just have to figure out how to do it myself. That cake you're making for New Years sounds so delicious!

Hope the shirt turns out awesomely!

Thankfully caffeine doesn't affect me, I practically live on Diet Mountain Dew. I've actually met two other people that sugar affects like this. It's sad, sometimes I give in and try a goody, but pay the consequences with a migraine like headache within minutes. Good news is every restaurant on the cruise ships offers a sugar free dessert, so I won't be missing out!

Wow. This is sad. Especially if there is a dessert you'd love to try and it's not available in sugar-free. Has it always been like this for you, even as a child? Is this diagnosed as something?

But the dessert industry has come a LONG way as far as sugar-free goes. There is a candy shop that I go to in Cambria (along the central coast) where I go every time we're there. It seems that there is EQUAL amounts of sugar-free treat offerings along with the sugar loaded offerings. I remember years ago, there would only be a few options of sugar-free stuff. Now there's tons which is great!

I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing but it hasn't always been like this. I used to be a sugarholic. But the bad thing is I know how good things taste! I figured it out three years ago, but looking back it had been going on for many years before that. I haven't gotten it checked out only because I've been able to control it, and I've ruled out diabetes because I'm not affected by breads or other foods that break down into sugars. Yep, the dessert industry has definitely come a long way! I'm still able to enjoy things, and if I'm up for it can be creative in the kitchen making goodies! But our previous donut drooling over made me think back, I really do miss donuts!

Yikes! That is kind of scary, tbh. It's scary that you just became unable to eat sugar, even though you ate it years before without any issues. I'm not sure what I would do if I wasn't able to have sugar. I honestly think I would go insane....on the other hand, could you imagine how much weight I would lose?! Holy cow! I know that's the one thing that's keeping the extra pounds on. I eat pretty healthy meals throughout the days, but need to have something sweet after lunch and dinner.

My mom receives catalogs from various baking and sweets companies, and she just showed me this donut pan and donut mix from Sur La Table...then I got to thinking, couldn't you make your own sugar-free glaze/drizzling/frosting? Since you're not affected by bread, you could still have this. It will just take a little bit of work on your end though.
