Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

Okay...sorry to add more conflicting info to an already nerve-wracking situation...but here is what I received from a AAA travel agent:

Due to the changing environment in Mazatlan, 7-night Mexican Riviera sailings from now until April 17, 2011 will be removing this port from the itinerary and replacing it with a second stop in Cabo San Lucas. Disney apologizes for any inconvenience but wants to ensure the safety of their guests. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Here are the new itineraries based on sailing date (subject to change without notice):

1/23, 1/30, 2/13, 3/13, 4/3
Day 1 – Los Angeles
Day 2 – Day at Sea (*formal night)
Day 3 – Cabo San Lucas (11:15am - 5pm)
Day 4 – Puerto Vallarta (7:30am-7pm) (*pirate night)
Day 5 – Day at Sea
Day 6 – Cabo San Lucas (7:15am-1:30pm)
Day 7 – Day at Sea
Day 8 – Los Angeles

2/6, 2/20, 2/27, 3/6, 3/20, 3/27, 4/10

Day 1 – Los Angeles
Day 2 – Day at Sea
Day 3 – Day at Sea
Day 4 – Puerto Vallarta
Day 5 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 6 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 7 – Day at Sea
Day 8 – Los Angeles

***P.S. - When I called DCL today, our 4/3 schedule was confirmed and I was given the port times I listed in () next to each day. I am planning to book my Cabo excursions thru Johann & Sandra (local tour co.) ...so I know I am going to have to continuously check back to keep up with the ever changing schedules - phew!

We book with Johann and Sandra, too. I've booked with them several times and they are extremely nice and flexible, so no worries on their end, just with the cruise line making changes...

I am also curious when we will be notified? I have a friend on a Feb cruise. She has a travel agent (I think one of the sponsors here) and they haven't notified her, and Disney hasn't either. If she weren't a Disboard member, then how would she know? I can't believe the lack of communication.

I agree...the lack of communication is a poor showing on the part of DCL. I also found out via boards and then contacted Disney and a TA afterwards. Although I have been told that DCL will be 'contacting' us, a letter will reach those of us sailing in April....what about those sailing next week? Will they simply find out when they arrive at the Cruise Terminal? I would not want to be in that foul crowd when the word gets out!

Well I just received an email from from my TA with my itinerary. There is nothing explaining that it has changed from what I booked, just a new itinerary. The order of the ports is consistent with what is shown above, but it has slightly different times. It's slightly different then what is on the DCL website. I'm sure they'll work it out by the time we take our cruise!! I still don't see that you can book excursions for the additional day in Cabo.:rolleyes1

Hey everybody I have two questions for the group.

1. Is anybody going to DL after the cruise?

2. Are there any other DVC members here?

We are going to DL before and yes, I am a dvc member @ saratoga, OKW and Aulauni!

Just wanted to say "hello!" We're going on this cruise during my daughter's spring break. It is me, DH, and DD (age 14). She's looking forward to checking on the teen club. I wonder how many kids will be on this cruise! I'm a GTY, so I keep checking for my cabin number. I'm waiting for the official notice from Disney regarding the itinerary change. I don't know why they don't put something up on their website. I wish there was another port they could substitute for Mazatlan. Ixtapa? But I know that would be extra fuel but I would prefer that over two Cabo visits. We'll have fun whatever. Any day I'm on a cruise and not at work ...:cool1:
Welcome Aboard! I wish they would take us to ixtapa. I love that place!
We're going to DL BEFORE the cruise... we get into town on March 30th and will be sightseeing (DH has never been to CA) and hitting DL. Fun times!
You'll have so much fun!
We get there March 31st and will do DL then. DH, and DD (24) and myself. Can't wait! 64 days until we leave!:dance3:
We are counting down too!

We are going before.

2. Are there any other DVC members here?
Not us :(
Lots of us going before. We'll have to keep an eye out for everyone!

I'm glad I'm not booking excursions but it is messing with palo and spa planning. I guess I'll have to take my chances on board to get times.

Can you post contact info for Johann and Sandra. I'm looking for a reliable non disney tour operator.

I haven't gotten any cruise paperwork yet. I feel like they are so behind right now. I think getting the dream out has pushed them behind. I'm wanting my booklet! :scared1::confused:

We are on this cruise too!

Myself Diane & Hubby Norman DD-Melissa 19, DS-Danny 13

I think that we would like to be included in the FE exchange

I hope some older kids are coming too. Melissa is the biggest Disney fan. Would have slept anyplace on the ship, just to be on it.

We are doing DL the day before (4/2) and will be at Goofy's Kitchen for character dining that night...a little appetizer to our fabulous 7 day cruise!! :cheer2:

Hey experienced MR cruisers:

This will be our first cruise with tendering in and out of ports? Does anyone have any experiences with it....how long should we expect to wait to get off the boat? And how many passengers does these boats carry at a time usually? And in Cabo, does the tender take you right to the marina (near the market and restaurants)?

Thanks :flower3:

I can't remember how many they carry but it was a fairly smooth process. I didn't rush down to the tenders though... They take you right to the marina, walking distance to town, beach etc. Very Convenient.

an update They Cacelled the Matzalan Port For Security Reasons At Sea Sunday And Monday With Cobo On Tuesday Wednesday Purto Viarita then At Sea Thursday And Cobo Friday At Sea Saturday And back to la on Sunday Morning At 9:30am

Being Tendered isent that bad just remember to give yourself plenty of time to get back to the boat that means checking through the security lines at the port...

After exchanging emails with TA, went online to DCL at her advice and changed Palo to at sea day. No problem to do this but encourage folks to do it soon.

We leave in 60 days for DL! Getting so excited:dance3:

Hey do we have any other divers on here? I'm planning on diving Cabo, but I'm not sure if it would be worth diving on both stops. Has anybody done the dive there?

Hi everybody! We are on the 4/3 cruise as well! This is our first Disney cruise ever and we're sooo excited! It will be myself, and my Son who is 3. (Hubby is serving overseas in afghanistan) We would LOVE to get in on the Fish Extender Fun giving thingy! It sounds like so much fun!:cool1: Can't wait for our trip and I'm looking forward to getting as much information as I can from you seasoned Disney cruisers!:teacher:
