Mexican Riviera Cruise 03/27/2011

Thanks Betty & Honu for that info. I will be checking reservations regularly, and can't wait t book the Spa/Palo/ & Port Adventures! :thumbsup2 You sound like a pro Betty, and more tips you or anyone else could give? :yay: I'm trying to fiigure out how to get some of the printouts to attach to magnets, from the several DCL people on here who do them. :)

You can purchase magnetic paper at Michaels or some other craft store and print directly on to the paper. I printed out a picture, had it laminated at Kinkos and then glued magnets on to the back. I used the advertising magnets that a lot of businesses send to us in the mail. Just make sure that you put on a lot of these magnets so that your picture doesn't slide off the door when you open and close it.

Wow, exciting to see some activity. I have been coming back every so often when I am looking for info and up till last week its been silent. I guess we are all getting excited as our cruise is almost here.:cool1:

I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about "the Edge" coming to the Wonder. My 12 year old is very concerned because she's not old enough for the teen club but doesn't want to hang out with "little Kids":rotfl: I saw something about it arriving in Dec 2010 but haven't seen anthing update since.

grammybtty,
Question for you since you've been to MR twice. Trying to decide what we are going to do at each port. Wondering, when we dock in each of the three ports are the restaurants/shopping there or do we need to take a taxi or such into town?

Thanks Betty! I'm definitely going to get some of that magnetic paper, and start printing!
***Question, who's all doing the FE's (fish extenders)? I'm debating doing it, but would like to hear if there is a group doing them, I may join in!
Janie, I checked out that resort in Puerta Vallarta that you mentioned. I noticed it had activities like cooking with chef, and several others. Are those included in the price you pay for the excursion, or is it extra?
Less than 3 months guys!! Can't wait, WOO HOO!! We are doing OUR reveal on Valentine's day to the kids!!! I've already started to organize and shop for it, and THEY have even helped! (They just don't realize they've been helping to prepare!!) I love sneaky surprises.;) :grouphug:

Oh, can anyone confirm that nights 2, 4, and 6 are the formal, pirate night, and the semi-formal?

Thanks.

Hi there, we phoned disney on the 26th to confirm the dates for activities. These nights seem to be correct. We were able to book Palo etc early and didn't want to be booking on formal night!

Thanks for that info ManitobaMickey! Are you participating in the Fish Extenders? I think we'd like to, just unsure who's in charge of it & how we get on the list.

Hey guys! We are less than 3 months away!

We've booked Palo brunch for Day 2 and the Pirate Sail & Snorkel in Puerto Vallerta. We may do Randi's horses in Matzatlan. Is anyone else considering doing that?

Lastly, we'll probably just take a taxi to the beach in Cabo. It's actually walkable, but with small kids wouldn't be fun.

Not sure that we are going to Fish Extenders, with all that is going on with trip preparations, i am not sure that I can be that organized!

So far we have booked a Palo brunch (looking forward to this as it will be a new experience), Palo Dinner, Las Caletas in PV and surfing for our teenager in Cabo...

So excited, less than three months to go!

Hi! For anyone wanting to participate in FE exchange, there is a list started on meet thread under Feb 27 2011 MR . DIsneylover is organizing it and taking names. Can't wait! Its getting closer!

grammybtty,
Question for you since you've been to MR twice. Trying to decide what we are going to do at each port. Wondering, when we dock in each of the three ports are the restaurants/shopping there or do we need to take a taxi or such into town?

We have timeshares in Cabo and in Puerto Vallarta so I am pretty familiar those two cities. I am not too familiar with Mazatlan.

The ship will tender in Cabo. When you get off the tender you will be on a long, wide promenade type pier. There are many vendors offering boat tours, whale watching, snorkeling, etc. on the pier. You can also take a water taxi to Medano Beach where there are many beach shack restaurants, one of which is the Office, where you can get grilled shrimp, tacos, etc with margaritas and beer. There is an arcade of shops at the west end of the pier offering all sorts of Mexican souvenirs, if that is the kind of shopping you are looking for. There are restaurant bars right at the pier and many more if you walk all the way through the Paradise mall. The mall isn't anything special, but if you forgot to bring sunscreen or lost your sunglasses, then that is a good place to shop.

You will have to take a taxi in Mazatlan to the Golden Zone if you are looking for food and shopping. The port is in a heavily industrial area. Taxi drivers will offer you a tour of Mazatlan city if you want. During our stops at Mazatlan, we have taken a taxi and used the pool facilities at El Cid Hotel and Playa Mazatlan. Both facilities welcome cruisers, especially if we buy food and drinks. We bring our towels from the ship and usually buy nachos, margaritas and beers. The taxi was about $10-$12 each way.

The dock in Puerto Vallarta is located across the highway from Walmart/ Sam's Club. You can walk across the street and catch a bus for El Centro (which is the downtown area). Ask the driver to tell you when you arrive at the Malecon. There is plentiful shopping, food and drinks and a nice beach side walkway. You can also take a taxi from the port to the Malecon. I believe that it will cost around $14 or so.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jewelss37,
Thanks for the reply about the FEs. I think though your post was misplaced in our cruise thread, as we are on the March 27,2011, not the February one.
I'd still love to be on the list for March27's FE! Whomever is keeping the list, let me know, so I can ask some questions, and get on, thanks! :)

Hi everyone! Glad to see the board is gaining some speed!

DisneyHonu: I can't reply directly to your message because of posting restrictions (I haven't posted 10 times yet so I can't send or reply to private messages). So here's my reply:

Nice to meet you, Lawrence!!

This is our first cruise too!!

My schedule has got so crazy I would gratefully accept any help you'd like to give (concerning the Fish Extenders Exchange).

I also started a private "page" on Facebook for our cruise group but have not published it. I thought maybe we all of us could "friend" each other and discuss cruise plans there, too. Of course, not everyone will have a facebook page, but it's a thought. What do you think? Is that too weird??

I've never done a FE so just gathered tips from other threads. Let me know if you'd like to take the lead, or want to co-organize. Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks! Lori

Hi Lori,

I'm glad you got my message. I was thinking over the holidays that we purposely chose Disney over the other cruise lines to see what's different. So, I would like the full experience of eating those mouse-ear shaped waffles at breakfast, hearing Little Mermaid muzak in the elevators, and participating in the fish extenders!

I'm happy to volunteer to take on any clerical tasks. I'll re-compile the list so you don't have to read all the threads again.

Lawrence

Hi Penguinaddict & Disney Honu!
Great to hear we are starting the FE plans! This is iour first Disney cruise also, and we are so excited! Count us in on the FE. Lori, If you think a Facebook page would be too difficult or away from the DIS discussion/meet page, how about a webpage attached to our meet thread? I saw that on someone elses cruise thread, and it was a good idea. I think it was a Feb 2011 Wonder cruise thread. It gave a countdown ticker, a list of everyone that checked in, and those wanting to do FE's, the current weather for all our ports daily, links to threads of FE gift ideas, where to get the FE itself, etc. Disney Honu, or anyone else on the cruise, do you know how to do one of those? Sadlly, I'm pretty computer illiterate, except for google & email! haha But it'd be pretty cool to do that & get alot of pRTICIPANTS.
Since I've never done the FEs, I've just been reading about them, talking with other DIS cruisers about it. Sounds like giving each family one day to hand out their gifts to everyone on the list sounded good. Or if we have a big group, 2 or 3 families taking one day, then 2 or three the next day, and so forth. We'd need everyones cabin #'s, and ages of the kids. Whatever I can do to help, let me know! It's getting closer, Yay!

Hi CalDisfans!

I did a quick search to try and find that webpage you referenced. No luck. If you can find it, let me know and I'll check it out!

Thanks?

I'm sorry, I had wrong date! I believe its Jan 23 MR date, has their meet, then below it, has the website. :)
