Mexican Riviera 2/27 - 3/6 - DisneyZell TR new 3/31: FINISHED!!!

Enjoying your report! We will be on the April 10th Wonder and I have boys almost the same age as yours and neighbors going with kids also the same as your neighbors! However, we will be enjoying our ice creams in inside cabins. Did the kids go to the Edge club? This is our 3rd Disney cruise we also started in 2004.

Whoa...you are almost there. I'm jealous. We have a few more months until we sail again! :) It's funny, the other day I was pondering inside cabin. I love it when it is really dark....I sleep better. I would probably sleep like a log in an inside cabin. Have to try that sometime :thumbsup2. I'm a firm believer that any cabin on the wonder, magic or dream is better than not cruising at all!

They kids checked out the Edge...but ruled it "not cool" the moment we got on. In my opinion it was one of those things that they had decided not to do from moment one. It has an Xbox360 with kinnect...which they both have at home...so maybe that didn't seem that great to them. Not sure their reasoning. But the older boys were old enough that we let them pretty much have the run of the ship as long as they stayed together and they did a great job of that.

Sorry I can't be more help there...this cruise didn't involved kids clubs at all for any of our kids. Crazy kids...I'd be in there all the time if I could!

I think the kids that cruise with friends are less likely to spend time in places like the Edge. We didn't cruise with anyone else so my 11 year old daughter met friends at the Edge (make sure your child goes during the first day at sea to meet people). After she met her posse', they would use the Edge as a meeting place and spend the rest of the time doing other things on the ship (swimming, eating lunch, going to movies, shows, etc). Every once in a while, one of them would want to do something in the Edge (ex. 4th Pigs Pasta Palace) so they would go there for that. In our case, our 11 year old participated in just about every evening/after dinner activity which kept her at the Edge to midnight nightly.

. And if you go on the cruise you have a chance to win $300 onboard credit!

DZ

What kind of drawing did they have for this? Do you have to sign up or is everyone onboard automatically entered?

DW said I should scan all the navigators and get them up for you guys to see. I haven't had time to do that, but have the first three days on my photobucket site. Feel free to take a look and they will appear there as I scan them. At the end I'll do a post with all the navigators together.

Not gonna look...not gonna look....not gonna look....need to have some surprises....not gonna look.... ;)

For the $300 on board credit, you have to go to the DVC presentation to be entered...and you actually have to stay for the whole thing and be present to win! It was only 1 hour, and we weren't doing anything else, so not a big deal for us, and we really were interested in seeing how DVC works. And QuiltTeddy, you have a lot of will power not to look at the navigators! Deanna

I'm kinda bummed with the movie schedule looking at your Navigators that they were showing so many older movies (Secretariat, You Again) in the theater and not the newer ones like Gnomeo and Juliet and I am Number Four.

Ah....well I'm not going to sit through one of those again. LOL

Yes, I guess I probably do, but I want something to be a surprise. I've been reading all I can on the board, so a lot won't be. Gotta draw the line at some point!

Just curious.....I keep seeing "KSF". Are these on all cruises (god I hope not) at this point? Was really hoping the week we picked to go would be a week with less kids since Easter/Passover would be coming up shortly thereafter and figured most school breaks would be then.

Oh, they had the newer ones as well...Gnomeo and Juliet was played in the Walt Disney theatre as one of the main shows one night and we saw I am Number Four in the Buena Vista one of the nights as well. They played those movies multiple times during the cruise, so you should be able to see them at some point!

I don't blame you for not sitting through another time share speech...we do occasionally when we are at one of the Marriott resorts, but we usually get something really good for it. We were really hoping for that $300, but it just wasn't meant to be...we got a couple of free items, but DH would hate it if I spoiled it for him and told you what they were! They will be in an upcoming segment!

I'm not sure how many cruises were KSF, but sorry to say, it probably is your cruise as well. I know it went on for quite a few sailings, but since we had only one week we could go, I didn't pay much attention to it. This was one cruise that did have a lot of kids (which I mostly saw at the pool...no where else!) But, you did pick a week where most kids won't be on vacation, so you do have a good shot at it not being so crowded.

Well on the other two Disney cruises we took, we basically stayed in the "adult" areas and therefore weren't subjected to too many unruley little ones. It does amaze me how some parents end up just being oblivious to behavior of their kids. We fully understand it's a Disney cruise, so it's not like we are looking for no kids to be around, but from reading some of the posts, it seems like there was an over abundance on recent cruises.

We always have a great time when it comes to cruising with Disney, but then again, we love cruise vacations as they are so relaxing.

Question: Do you recommend any shopping with pesos or the good 'ole american dollar? If pesos, should we arrive with them and then not have to worry about converting when we are ashore?

We have never come with pesos to Mexico...we just use the good 'ole american dollars. We have heard you can negociate a better deal with dollars rather than pesos, but who knows. I can't think of anyplace that did not take cash...we did go to Walmart in PV (DS wanted a specific souvenier which we found there...go figure) and they took our cash, but gave us change in pesos, so I would make sure to take a lot of small bills so you don't have to use up the pesos later.

We are with you about loving cruise vacations! Eventually we will venture outside of Disney and we'll have to soon unless they start mixing up the destinations! But we do love just hanging out on the ship as well, so for now we are enjoying ourselves!

I'm pretty sure the KSF promotion was only for Jan-March.

The KSF offer was good for April MR cruises as well. We almost booked an April cruise for the kids' spring break, but by the time I convinced my hubby the week we wanted to go was almost sold out. Only the highest categories were left so we let it pass. Then we got lucky and got in early on the KSF Alaska cruise instead. :cool1:

I thought it was Jan - March, along with the 10 day cruise in April (which was announced after the initial KSF promo). I thought the first two weeks in April were excluded from the offer.

ETA: Looking at the meet boards, it looks like the KSF offer was announced on 6/11/10 for dates Jan - March 20 and then they added the 10 day on 6/24/10.

It actually only had about a two week blockout period for the Wonder, it was the last week of March and the first week of April.

A bit of foreshadowing for my trip report... I was a very happy lady after the DVC drawing at our session! :rolleyes1

It will be interesting to see if DS13 and his friend 13, spend time in the Edge. We cruised without friends in the past and he stayed in the clubs a lot. They both love video games but my son also LOVEs table tennis. He also loves to meet girls. His friend ususally tags along, so wherever the girls hang out, I guess.
I think the KSF was only for the 10 day in April. It definately wasn't the April 10 sailing. The website shows booked ship so I expect a lot of crowds.

OK, DH back. DW is doing a great job keeping you all entertained while I'm travelling. Was hoping to have a segment up today but it is not to be.

on the kid issue...I can honestly say that on our cruise I didn't have any issue with unruly kids. I didn't, however, spend any time at the Mickey pool...so maybe that was where they went nuts?

The only annoying people were the adults in the goofy hot tubs watching the movie at night! They clearly didn't have kids and were taking up my nice warm spot to watch the movie. how dare they???

And IndianaPrincess....I used to like you. But not anymore! that's just wrong! OK, OK, congratulations :)
