Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Mornin' ya'll!

Trying not to panic over here- DH is absolutely calm, so he balances my hysteria. Whole Foods has a hurricane plan, but they are waiting to see what happens this weekend. I do know that we would have to wait until the last minute to evacuate because of DH's work since he has to close down and get the store ready for the storm. Grocery stores and gas stations are always the last things to close when there is a hurricane approaching!

:welcome: Allyson!

Jenny- Jack is hilarious! "You're fired"- who does he think he is, Donald Trump? :rotfl:

PINE?? I was born in Bogalusa! Small world...........

LOL my whole family is from Bogalusa!

We are the Hughes and the Pentons.

Wow too funny! I have been to Bogalusa many times..as yall know it has the nearest Walmart!lol

My stepmother's mom lives out there. We usually don't evacuate to there because she has a electric run well, so if the power goes out so does the water...now, however, she has a city hookup too...so if the storm isn't that bad we'll be there.

My MIL is freaking out. She wants the kids and I out of town by Sat. She is afraid there is going to be looting on the WestBank. She works at WM and she says that her coworkers are really anxious, and most of them can not afford to evacuate. So we will probably head to Pine Friday night after my class.

Oh and I think I am in denial, because I am oddly calm about this. I am thinking of calling my doctor for some emergency anti-anxiety meds, just in case I do start to panic(I suffer from anxiety and depression but am not on meds right now because of my thyroid problem).

Hi all, back from school. Spent an awhile observing the class .. its way different than kinder. They have several different teachers and much more structured than Kinder.
We will all meet again on Friday to confirm first grade is where we need to stay.

They didnt seem to concerned about the whole"your fired" deal. Principal giggled about it, but did say they will def. work on him lol.

I talked to a friend of mine whose hubby works for Fema.. they are really expecting a high pressure system that is out there over the gulf to push it to the west, but of course arent sure.

They really arent putting that info out because they dont want people to not prepare, plus of course they dont know for sure, but it is what they are thinking!

Lets all say our prayers !

I am trying to stay calm here also. Not happening:sad1:

All I can do is pray and try to prepare.

Yep me too. Really, it is out of our hands- we have no control over this. All we can do is pray, pray, pray.

I moved my hair appt up AGAIN from Monday to this Friday based on the latest forecast. They are gonna think I'm crazy over there!

First time I've seen lines going to the Panhandle.

Lori- Is it running (like lots of water / still flushing) or just a constant dripping into the bowl? If it's the 1st - check inside the tank to see if the chain that pulls up the flap is getting caught. If the flap doesn't close all the way, the water continues to run into the bowl. Just adjust the chain. If it sounds like the 2nd, then the flap that covers the hole in the tank might not be making a good seal. Both are pretty easy things to change / repair. We've had to do both because, for some reason, toilet parts just don't hold up with our water.

Looks like my bosses are planning for Gustav - just got word that we're working Saturday to clear out any remaining finished product inventory. All product has to be shipped to our main refrigerated warehouse. UGH! The perma-knot in my stomach is back.

 to all of you having to make the evacuation decisions. It sounds like y'all have got it under control. Something that helped me when I was looking for last minute supplies....stay away from the big stores (you know Wally World is going to be a zoo!) and try hitting CVS, Walgreens, the dollar stores -places that fewer people frequent.

Jen - "you're fired!"....oh, my! :rotfl: Here's hoping the teacher has a sense of humor! Good luck with the meeting today.

Thank you-it is fixed!!! :woohoo:

so ow DH wants to go to Chattanooga for the weekend for a "vacation". only prob is if we bok the room for a week we are out of luck and have to pay deposit once we get there. we can cancel within 24 hours if need to. can't decide - if it doesn't come here I don't think I can get back in time for Tuesday

Morning Y'all,

I'm not doing a good job of staying calm. DH's said this morning he'd handle finding rooms today, somewhere. We are thinking Tennessee. I'm going to start cooking in a bit, gotta get all seafood & expensive meats out of the freezers.

I did get some great news last night, my daughter & SIL are going to join us for 4 of our 6 days in WDW this October!:cool1: I was able to get them in on some of our adr ressies this morning! We are thinking about doing the PFTS now too!

Jenny, I hope your meeting went okay!

Good morning ladies or is it? I don't know what to do with myself. I'm constantly switching the channels to catch the latest weather. I think I'm driving myself crazy over here. :scared:

so what is this food and wine fest thing anyway? never really looked into it but it sounds like fun!

I'm the same way, I'm going to head to the gym and get my mind off of it for a bit.:sad2:

Lucas, Thanks for posting the charts!!

Kristina, The F&W Fest takes place in Epcot (& restaurants all over the world) from Sept 26-Nov 9 this year. They have food & wine booths set up all around World Showcase selling food & drinks ($3-$9). They also have special dinners & wine seminars. As well as free wine tasting seminars & culinary demonstrations.

thanks for the info @ F&W fest! guess you don't need a dining plan for that time!

now, dd is making me worried. she said she thinks WDW is going to be too BORING next year when she turns 10 and doesn't think she is going to want to go..... HOW can this be???:scared1:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chattanooga! I have been at least once a yr since I was born. Sucks that you might have to go because of storm, but at least a great place to visit!

only time DH and I went was honeymoon 15 years ago. we did not go to Dallas with the intent of the hurricane...and did not really enjoy any of the sights there. so if we are going we will go as a "vacation". he nixed Disney because it is too hot (and might go that way) :scared1:
