Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Lorie, Do you (or anybody) know Disney's cancellation policy for close dates like this? I can't find it online anywhere.

Yeah, no kidding! I would love to meet y'all and everything, but not under these circumstances!

Want to know how crazy I am? I just changed my hair appt from next Thursday to Monday in case we have to leave for the hurricane. Natural disaster or not, I still need to get my hair done! ;)

LMAO thats funny, I was just taking a shower and thought Ill call to see if I can get my hair done in the next day or two just in case Gustave comes in. I want it done before we leave for WDW on the 10th. I am also planning on getting my pedi on Friday, so ill be ok for a cpl of weeks on that one.

How long before the trip, do you recieve the tags?

Kathy, I think you or Johnny should speak with your agent.

If the deposit was named in the purchase agreement without any stipulations and buyer just plain backs out then thats breach of contract. However if the Purchase Agreement says contingent upon financing then they can backout with loosing the deposit. Provided they have a letter from the finance co. stating they did not qualify. Then all bets are off.

p.s. I've always understood the deposit would go to the seller.

Here's the story....The buyers qualified and were told the APR and were assured it would be locked in, well, the financial institution is accepting blame here for not locking in the rate and buyer gets deposit back. ONLY to me, would this happen.:sad2:

I guess we're going to try and find a room somewhere for evacuation. God, this makes me sick to my stomach.:sad1:

I don't remember when we get the luggage tags, around 6 weeks out I'm estimating.

To receive a refund of the deposit (which is the cost of one night), you need to cancel five days ahead of time. Sheesh, that is a pretty steep requirement. I would think it would be a 24 hour notice, like most other hotels.

I did see on the latest computer models that they are now tracking it more west of us and also a possibly of it hitting the Florida panhandle- I didn't see any more bullseyes straight for us.

Does this help? It is from the main DIS page:

Disney's hurricane policy applies as follows:

If the National Hurricane Center issues a warning for Orlando or your place of residence no more than 7 days prior to your arrival date, you can change your Magic Your Way Package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without cancellation or change fees. This policy also is in effect for Disney's Hilton Head and Vero Beach Resorts

If you have booked elements of your vacation through a third party supplier, such as airlines, hotels, car rental agencies or vacation insurance companies, Disney is not responsible for any change/cancellation fees imposed by these outside entities. This policy does not apply to certain special events and dining experiences.

When changing your travel dates, all monies paid to Disney will be transferred to your new reservation. Any free offers or discounts associated with your original reservation will not be applicable to the rescheduled package/room. There is no guarantee of availability for the same accommodations for the new dates. This policy does not apply to certain special events and dining experiences.

If you have air travel as part of your Disney vacation package, Disney will try to reschedule it but you will be responsible if the airline imposes change/cancellation fees.

The above policies only apply to Walt Disney Travel Co. Magic Your Way Packages. It is not in effect for youth, sports or other group or special event rooms/packages or for meetings/conventions.

I'm back from running errands & picking up Alexis. Those computer models are looking a little better!

Cancellation 5 days out!!! That's not good! Well I'm going to check with SIL they stayed a couple of days off grounds last trip, she got a deal & was very happy with the place. But for the life of me I can't remember what it was!

Kathy, That really stinks! You must feel sick about it, 3 months off the market. Ugh!

What tracking system are yall looking at for Gustav?

Jack got in trouble for yelling at the teacher that she was fired today because she fussed at him.
That boy is gonna be the death of me i swear.

Small confession, I had to leave the room so he didnt see me laughing.
I can just see him turning red in the face and point his finger at her and yelling YOUR FIRED :rotfl:

SHhhh dont tell him I said that !

So glad I found you! Well I found this thread a while back but havent posted much.

I popped on here to see what everyone is doing about the storm (I dont like to say the H word, my house got a big hit during K and we had to live with my parents in Picayune.....enuff said, LOL!)

Glad to see its *maybe* going another way but I am still thinking about making reservations at a hotel in Meridian anyway!

I am a teacher and we were (are) supposed to start school Tuesday!

I have to laugh about this Jack child. He sounds like such a hoot!! (and a LOT like my DD Molly who is in 2nd grade this year).

Sorry....I'm Allyson from Slidell, by the way.

Hey ya'll....Checking in too. We're due to fly in tomorrow if the FAA gets their computers up and working again!

Looks like we're packing up what I can't bear to lose to bring back up here to MI with us. Right now we're due to fly out Tuesday AM. I'm wondering if I should move that up to Sunday or Monday.:confused3

Sheryl- we just stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Lake Buena Vista. It was really nice. It's in the Holiday Inn family. I think their cancellation policy is 24 hrs. And it has living room/bedroom/full kitchen.

Lori - I would definitely move it to no later than Sunday, that's what we're hearing. Stay safe my friend, I miss you.

Hey girl! I've been missing & thinking about you!!

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. We haven't booked anything yet, Bob is having some kind of disaster at work & I haven't been able to talk to him this afternoon.

Ooohhhh, I am getting nervous with all this talk...

BTW-NO D or C batteries at Walmart... already!!! I found about 4 packs (D's)on the end of isles but the battery stand was EMPTY. And I live in Covington. North of I-12.

DH is in Columbus till Thursday night but I have a feeling he'll be booking some place for us soon. If not, I will!

I am hoping, since we have no more trees, and water is not an issue for my area, that we can stay more easily now.

Lori

Welcome Allyson! Yes lol Jack is def a hoot.. im not sure his teacher is thinking that today though after he "fired" her!

Wow Lori.. no batteries huh? Well im sure they will be restocking soon, I can see Walmart headquarters is rolling out those big trucks right now lol. I watched a show about Walmart and they stay super in tuned to these storm and those trucks start moving out the second there is a hint of a storm.

I'm sitting here with a headache trying to decide what to do about the storm. For those of you who made reservations already what days did you make them for? :confused3 I'm trying not to worry but oh it's so hard not to.

Hi Allyson I'm Tricia from Mandeville.
