Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Morning Ladies....boy you guys have been chatting away.

Jamie - I hope your luck gets better.

Is anyone going to the JazzFest? I'm planning on going next Friday to see Stevie Wonder.:woohoo:

Hey everybody! Happy almost Friday!

Wow- sounds like a few of you a having a rough week. Jamie, hope the asthma situation gets better quickly. Hope the kitchen drama ends soon as well!

Please don't mention appliance problems too loudly.... I've got a 13yr old washer that's trying to die. I would love a new front-loader, but so don't want to pay the $$$$$. I also dread shopping for a new one, for fear of an experience like Jamie's.

OK, so I have a vent if anyone's up for a listen. Do my doctors know I've just hit the big 4-0 and are secretly taking pleasure in reminding me about aging? I'm OK about the number. Really, it hasn't bothered me. But my last two checkups.....ugh!

First, it was the OBGYN, not so subtly suggesting that it might be time to look into surgery, because I was done having kids. OK, I know I'm happy with my family size the way it is, but I'd like to think I still have a few years left, even if I wasn't planning on any more, KWIM??

Then, the eye doctor gives me the lovely news that, yep, I'll probably be needing progressive lenses within the next year ('cuz we don't call them bifocals anymore). :scared1: :sad2:

Getting the invitations to my 20th HS reunion - no problem. Seeing my best friend from HS's daughter graduate from HS - nope, didn't bother me. DS bragging to all his friends that mommy is 40 - still, no problem. But these two visits.....I'm about ready for the Geritol (or a stiff margarita!!)

Morning all! Whew, its foggy here. Im off to get Jack to school, but wanted say hi.

Terry i love your avatar.. i need to change my stuff up.. LOL i still have valentines sig up.

Ive had a busy week, trying to get all my scrapbooking stuff orgainized to put up on Craigs list, cuz apparently im NEVER going to scrap LOL. Im also going through Jacks toys, he has a TON of Fisher Price Little People and I guess we dont need that stuff anymore.

Yall have a great day!

hello, I am 38 snd my OBGyn mentioned that when i was 36!! I do have some female issues so I think his angle was from that, not so much age.

We have replaced our AC coil, microwave, dishwasher, floors due to treatment system being full and backing up, hot water heater all in the last 2 years-most in the past year. I had to forget something in there. It has been costly! We did install our own microwave/vent(I did it with 2 guys holding it up while I screwed in the bolts and changed out the plate thing that holds the darn thing inrto the wall)-yay ME!!!! DH did the dishwasher-yay hubby!! But we paid dearly for the hot water heater-in the attic , wouldn't fit through the attic door, it was a mess- and the floors.

Hope it gets better for you! We had allergy issues in Dallas, more than here!

Lori

Gonzales/Prairieville

We're probably moving to this area so that our daughter can attend the Brighton School for kids with learning disabilities.
Can anyone suggest nice neighborhoods in this area?
We live in Thibodaux and want to keep our house, but we also want to buy a house in the P/G area to make getting her to school more convenient. My husband runs his family's sugar cane plantation in Napoleonville, so we figured this area would also be more convenient for him as opposed to Baton Rouge.
Thanks!!!

PS Thanks Terry36 for suggesting this board.

My husband probably knows him if he's near Napoleonville. Once on a trip to BR, he named all the sugar plantations and who owns/operates them. He's a dear man but can I say-TOO MUCH INFO!!!:lmao:

Just a quick check in. Going to the Rivertown Museums tomorrow, have a great fiday everyone!

Good morning ladies and TGIF! :goodvibes

Welcome rie'smom. I'm sorry that I don't know much about the area you are requesting but I'm sure someone here will have some suggestions. Stick around and post with us.

Welcome rie'smom!!!!!

Gotta make a run to Sam's, always spend WAY too much there!

Hoping to hear from Sheryl soon.:confused3

Howdy ya'll!

We're driving over to New York today. So I can check in! :woohoo:

STRW- Last year we stayed at the LaQuinta Suites at Disneyland on points. This year it'll either be there or a Holiday Inn manifestation of some kind. We gots points to spend!:rotfl2:

I'll have been gone 2 whole weeks when I get home next week. I can't wait to see the mailbox.:rolleyes1

Jenny- Are ya'll going to F&WF tis year? We booked Oct 24-27.

I'm trying to come up with some ideas for this year instead of the boas and cups. Cindy and I were thinking the geeky wine glass around the neck things in lime green to give us an extra hand to eat with. Or wine glass charms. Can you tell I'm a planner/crafter?:lmao:

Forgot to mention we begin baseball playoffs this afternoon at 4:00 vs. St. Martinville. Wish us luck!!!!!!:cool1:

Hey Y'all,

Kathy everything is fine! Thanks for worrying about me. I had court yesterday for that accident in Dec. They downgraded in to a non-moving violation so it wouldn't hurt our insurance but it still cost $160 bucks. I was just in a bummed mood all day yesterday from being there. Why do they mix traffic court with criminal court. There were some reeallly scary people in there. Then to have to sit & listen to the judge giving them less than a slap on the wrist, was just really disturbing.

Jamie,  You sure have had a rough week. Hope it improves. My DD wasn't put on any maintenace meds, the dr just told her to have her inhaler nearby especially when excersing. He really encouraged her with the running, he said it almost alway helps to improve the asthma, if they are able to work through it.

TriciaII, Glad you're on the mend! On the fatigue, I didn't even believe I had fibro, until the fatigue started. I've had the pain for a long time and just deal with it. But the being too exhausted to even get out of bed some days, really through me for a loop. Sorry to hear you deal with it.

rie's mom, The Gonzales/Prairieville area is really nice! After Katrina we were considering moving that way. I can't make any specific recommendations about neighborhoods, but I'm sure you'll find something.

Lori, I really liked the wine cork necklace! And Alexis broke mine. I picked up a light up large bead necklace & was thinking of attaching the grapes & corks to that! The wine holder neck thing sounds neat too!

Jenny, Are you gonna be there or be square???

Don't know if we'll making to Jazz Fest. Our church fair starts this evening. Alexis & her class will be singing on stage tomorrow. We'll probably be there most of the weekend. It's kicking off with Amanda Shaw at 5:30 this evening!

I really would love to hear Stevie, he's next Friday right? And love to hear Santana but I think he's playing this Sunday & I'll probably be pooped by then.

GO EAGLES!!!:cheer2:

I do the same thing, so I've been staying away the store. Its hard though because as I drive past, Sam is calling me.

:lmao:

Sheryl - Glad to hear you're OK. A day in court is enough to put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day, that's for sure.

I'd love to catch Tim McGraw at Jazzfest but that's not likely to happen.:sad2:

Rick says he'll bring you another one if you want- you don't have to make up a story!:rotfl: Or blame Alexis.;)

Those will be back again this year. So will some form of light up thingie-maybe glasses maybe not. Don't know yet.

Glad you made it back from being with the badddddd people.
