Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Stephanie, Alexis will eat with chopsticks, but uses them to eat pasta with alfredo sauce! :confused3  :cool1: Another trip!!! Sometimes those men just keep surprising us!
haha Kurt jr likes them for spaghetti as well! And no not another trip, we haven't been there on vacation since before Katrina. We have been working really hard at getting out of debt and saving for a house. I always ask when can we go and he shakes his head and reminds me of our goals. So that is why I was so shocked by HIM bringing it up and telling me to go ahead and plan it. So I am really

Lorie, I did read that all the bar menus had become standardized. But didn't think to check last time we were there. That's sad because I loved the Lapu-Lapu! I hope that's not the case with all of the restaurants too!

I think you're right, it's the bars. That's where we spent most of our time.;)

Well I went to the doctor today. I have been having problems with my thyroid so I went to see a specialist. He thinks I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder. So He started me on mew medication and he wants me to start walking 3 miles a day. I go back for blood work in 6 weeks.

I am glad I have a diagnosis, but I am really upset that it is autoimmune. He said I am now open to other autoimmune disorders.

Stephanie,  I'm sure you must be really scared about this! But at least you were able to get a diagnosis! I'll pray that the meds will really help! 3 miles?? If you haven't been walking start out slow & don't push too hard too fast. Again prayers:flower3: & hugs!

Yeah I know at first he said walking or any cardio activity for 45 mins hmmm ok :scared: But then he said he wants me to eventually be able to walk 3 miles in 45 mins. I haven't done that since HS! I am so out of shape. But I am motivated. My biggest problem besides not being in shape is there are no sidewalks around here! So I really don't know where I am going to walk. :confused3

Thanks for the hugs, I really need them! :headache:

Morning ladies, boy is it windy outside this morning.

Stephanie - hoping for the best for you!

I am getting VERY excited about our family trip to Orlando in June. My sister and her family is renting this 5 bedroom house, http://www.windsorhillsrentals.com/Royal_Ascot.html, with us in Windsor Hills.

We plan on visiting the parks 3 days, Sea World and a beach. We will attend the Princess and Pirate Party as well. Boy will we be busy. I am not sure when we will have time to enjoy the pool. :)

Later guys.

Sounds like fun Terry!!

In my prayers, Stephanie. I worry about Ashton getting some autoimmune something or other, but I really don't know much about all that. Just give it all to Someone who can carry the burden for you(hint, hint;) ). You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the well wishers, the court thing cost me $233:eek: , but it could have been worse right?! My DH said, "honey, just go to court and think about how thankful we are no one was hurt. This is okay". He can be so sweet!! I was more worried about the cost than anything. He stayed home with the kids.

Anyway, glad there are other kids who LOVE testing!! A bunch of other homeschooled kids are scared of it and have such anxiety. I was more like them, scared, but maybe b/c no one really prepared me for it. I am hoping that DD8 LOVES testing too. I am using Spectrum to show her how it will be(for the most part).
I do not know how schools work it since they have more time constraints with when to give kids lunches and breaks and all, but for our HS association, they do not limit the kids time. 99.9% finish in a specified amount of time, but if they have trouble on a subject, they will allow them to keep going. I am positive they are not breaking any rules, but it just seemed so wierd to allow them more time. DD10 needed an extra 5 minutes last year in math. Her processing speed is slow in math, but she does well.:lmao: It is just her. Her PS teachers in K and 1st told me the same thing! Now she reads like a fiend. She eats up books faster than I can get them to her.

See ya!

Lori

We decided to go to Field Day today!! Heck, the week is almost shot, so what the hey!!:yay:

Morning Y'all,

I have Alexis home again. The school called yesterday while I was in the doctors office, she was running fever & her Dad went get her from school. He gave her tylenol at 11:00 & she was fine the rest of the day. But the school rules don't allow them back for 24 hrs if they have fever. So I couldn't take her in. Good thing, because after she was awake a while her temp started climbing again.
I don't know what is wrong with her, she's running a low fever & complains about her stomach hurting but then wanted to eat & ate some cereal. :confused3 Ugh.

Stephanie, I don't know which is closer to you, but the Park in Westwego has a nice walking track. It's on the Expressway in between Ave C & D right past the McDonald's. There is also a nice walking track on Lafitte Larose Hwy in front of Bent Tree subdivision. Both have trees, the Westwego Park also has slides & swings for the kids.

Terry, That house looks wonderful!! Y'all are going to have a great time!

Thanks everyone I can not wait to see the house in person.

Shovan - there is a virus going around like this so give her lots of fluids and Tylenol/Motrin (switch them up)!

Thanks Terry! Trying to get this child to drink is always hard. She just doesn't ever drink enough. I guess I'll have to break out the Sprite, she will drink that!

Hey guys.

I'm sorry Alexis is sick. If she drinks Sprite, great! I hope she feels better.

Terry, your trip looks and sounds wonderful. Your little princess should have a magical time!

I played Bunco today with a group of ladies. It was a lot of fun, but I'm telling you, some of those ladies get loud when they roll a good hand:lmao:

Why 45 mins? I have been working out for a month and I am now able to walk 2 miles in 30 mins. on the treadmill. so it is doable. I will progress up to 3miles next week.

Do you have walking trail around your neighborhood?

Lorie - I'm planning on doing the Cuban Pork Roast this weekend. Have you ever marinated it before putting it in the crock-pot? I was thinking about soaking it in the marinade for at least 12 hours, what do you think?

I really do think it's Friday today so here goes......................TGIF! :cool1:

After I get all the kids off to school I'm going to tackle my pantry. It needs a good cleaning out and throwing of the old stuff away. It has gotten so cluttered that I can't find anything. A fun filled day awaits me.

When the clock went off this morning, I thought what the heck isn't it Saturday?
:confused3 :lmao:

Happy FRIDAY y'all!
