Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hey Jenny, If y'all decide y'all are really going to go to Alaska, let us know! That is one trip Bob is dying to do!!!! I haven't shown much interest because, we have no friends or family interested!!! Have y'all done any Disney cruises? I know that my SIL is looking into them. So we could do a Jack & Alexis cruise if y'all are interested!

No Disney cruise yet, im not interested.Jack's Nana and Parrain are goin next yr and want us to go, but we really arent interested. We would rather spend our money in WDW lol.... we are hooked. We really want to do Alaska... im so excited, its gonna be a ball. One prob with doing your little one and our little one is school times, since i know Alexis will be in school. But wont FWF be fun!!!!! I prob book it tomorrow!

I'm glad I found y'all! Gee, our new home looks so much like our old home. :) Did they say why they were closing the big threads? Just wondering.

Morning everyone!! I hope you all have a great day.

Tricia, I am glad you and your family are ok. I saw where Arkansas got hit pretty hard.

cajunmommy, I'm worried that SIL decided to pull Alexis out of school for the Oct. trip. I didn't think that was the best idea, she'll be in kindergarten next year. I mean she can afford to miss a week, but what happens if she gets really sick during the year. But I'm not the Mom & don't get to make the decisions.

I struggled with pulling the boys out of school as well. I did pull the oldest out for a couple of days in both K & 1st when we went @ Mardi Gras (we only get Lundi Gras & Mardi Gras day, not the whole week). I wasn't worried about K, but the make-up work in 1st changed my mind. They just miss so much. You do have a point about her getting sick, however.

I was considering driving to B.R. to take Alexis to see it tomorrow or Friday. That's if there are still tickets available.

Are you headed this direction? Maybe we can meet for lunch?

but what we are looking at is Alaska for sometime in 09 I dont care if it cruise or we stay on land, but from what i can tell cruise is the way to see Alaska, im dying to go!!!
So what have we decided on our on meet.. is it April 12th?

Cruisin' is the next big thing on my travel wish list. The boys are finally old enough, but I'm torn between doing a Disney cruise, something out of NOLA to save $$$, and Alaska - now that's definitely a dream destination!

April 12th still looking good for everyone?

OK, I know y'all avoid the Hurricane Katrina sub-forum on the top of this board like the plague, but there's someone asking for NOLA travel advice. She's headed here this summer (July IIRC), and had some questions on hotels.

I also mentioned snowballs as something she needed to try. Can anybody think of someplace good she can go for an authentic snowball without going too far? And you know she'll be wanting restaurant opinions - so do what y'all do best - brag on all those yummy local spots!

Good Morning!

Everything went well with my niece yesterday- she didn't look as bored as she usually does. ;) Maybe she's growing out of that look. We went shopping for spring shoes for Sienna, and she LOVED that. She liked that I asked her opinion on what shoes to get for her. She wanted to talk about her mother a lot (who died almost three years ago) and asked a lot of questions about when she was young. It was hard for me to talk about, but it's a good thing I guess that she wants to talk about her mom.

Instead of possibly booking WDW dates in October, DH was thinking about going the week after Thanksgiving instead because he wants to see the Christmas lights on the castle (awwww :lovestruc ). So, Kathy, you've been this time of year- how are the crowds? Is it a good time to go?

I wish we could go on a cruise, but DH is terrified of boats. Just like his fear of flying, maybe he'll get over it one day.

I'm glad I found y'all! Gee, our new home looks so much like our old home. :) Did they say why they were closing the big threads? Just wondering.
So glad you found us! I believe they closed the big threads because they were slowing the boards down.

cajunmommy- I gave my snoball input!

Jenny- glad you found us too and sounds like you had a great Mardi Gras!

Sounds like you & your niece had a good day. So wonderful of you to answer her questions.

I read the snoball info - great advice, especially with NOMA! I hadn't thought to mention it. Combining it with a streetcar ride gives them a true NOLA experience!

Good morning!

Lorie - The week after Thanksgiving is a great time to go. We had pretty low crowds for the first part of the week than it got more crowded as the week went on. The decorations are beautiful!!:thumbsup2

Morning Y'all,

Lorie, Glad to hear your day with your niece went well! Sienna would love Disney around the Christmas holidays!

I know y'all would love WDW around Christmas!

Jenny, I didn't realize you had decided to home-school Jack. That sure will make vacations easier! :goodvibes My Mom took my DD on an Alaskan cruise when DD was 13. They loved & the pics were fabulous. Bob & I are still sorry we didn't join them. Money was just too tight back then.

cajunmommy, Alexis is all stuffy, so I don't think I'm going to tempt fate with heading to B.R.. But thanks for the lunch invitation! :goodvibes

April 12th is still fine with me. Y'all want to do lunch or the French Quarter Fest?

Good morning NOLA!!

It will be official today, signing the papers to put Mom & Dad's house on the market.:sad1: It's so strange to think of someone else living in the house I grew up in.

Good morning!

Just doing laundry today :laundy: . I swear, the laundry just multiplies like rabbits. Every time I turn around, there is a huge pile. :confused3

DD is running around today wearing her mouse ears. I tell ya, she's killing me (I really want to go to WDW!!)

Kathy- I know that must be very difficult.

cajunmommy- Happy Birthday to your boys! :bday:

cajunmommy- Happy Birthday to your boys! :bday:

Thanks! My little cajuns will be in heaven. We're having the party @ Cabela's. Wonder how many dads will offer to come along for this one?? :rotfl:

Kathy- One step at a time. You'll get through it. You know, now that I think about it, I haven't been by the house I grew up in since DMom sold it 5 yrs ago. Even though it sold to friends of the family, I'm not sure what triggered the mental shift from "home" to "house".

Probably more than the party we're going to next weekend at Kidsport. I asked DH if he wanted to come with us, and he just laughed.

Afternoon Y'all,

Kathy, Hugs  and prayers:flower3: for you today. I know that must be really tough.

cajunmommy, A party at Cabela's! Now that is a Cajun boys dream come true! Hope they don't make you pay extra for all the Dad's that show up!

I've got to get going & run some errands today. But Alexis had big plans for lunch, cooking her own pasta for lunch. Now I have to clean up before getting started on everything else. Although, letting her cook is working great at getting her to eat different things. Yesterday she made up her own recipe for roasted potatoes, that were really good. And she ate them! The only potato she will ever eat is a few McDonald's french fries, so that was good. Since she likes adding lots of ingredients, we made pasta primavera for lunch, & she ate that too! :goodvibes

Lorie, I'll be busting my bootie on laundry & packing this weekend. We'll be leaving on Thurs for our trip.

Happy Friday!

Afternoon everyone!

Kathy -

Cajunmommy - enjoy your day with the kids; Happy birthday to them!:yay:

Ms. Marigny - I absoluted hate going to Kidsport parties...:scared1: too many kids running around like mad.

Hi ya'll, I'm back. ::MickeyMo Mickey say's Hi.

We got home around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. If driving 10 hours wasn't enough I then had to pick up Gracie :dogdance: at my mom's (another 45 minute drive) but it was worth it. Gracie had a weeks vacation out in the country.

I have mounds of laundry:laundy: to catch up on and of course there is no food in the house so you can see how I will be spending my Saturday. I'll pop in later with the details and see if Kelsie can help me with some pictures.

Oh and I met a DISer from another thread I post on. That was fun but I sure didn't see many lime green mickey heads while I was there. LSU fans were everywhere. No matter what park you were at there were a sea of purple and gold.

Morning all -

Welcome home Grumpy; glad you had fun! My sister and I are driving our family to DW this June, all 8 of us in one car! :scared1: I can't wait. NOT!

Well we will be in BR again today for a housewarming party! It looks as if it will be a nice day.

Welcome back Tricia!!! Can't wait for the details and pics. I have no vacation planned so I have to live through you guys.:goodvibes
