Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Morning ladies...How is everyone this morning?

Well I woke up to a very itchy throat...it has been this way all week but this morning was unbearable! I am going to WM to get Zyrtec.

My house if full this morning again. My 13 y.o. cousin and DD's friend both slept over last night. They as well as my mom will be here for a few days due to lack of electricity. Who else has a house full of guests due to GUSTAV?

Thanks Lauren for lettin us know about Kathy!!

Wow Ike made a big move towards the west overnight... just keep going Ike... atta boy!! Just keep keep moving to the west! I have to say seeing that this morning took away some of my grumpiness. I have been a WITCH the last two days and im sure its im tired of worrying about storms!

Getting suitcases down to pack today woo hoo!

No guests here Terry, my parents refuse to come. :confused3 :confused3 They live in Sherwood Forest and are due to not have power for 14-21 days. THey are just sticking it out.

Good luck with Hannah. I've got a friend on another thread who lives in Virginia and is welcoming the rain. I hope it's not too bad for you. Thanks for the well wishes.

Hanna was not bad. Just a lot of rain and some wind. The only damage I'm aware of is some street flooding and a building collapsed near me. The roof pancaked in on this church that was empty at the time, but if it had come down an hour later it would have been full of children there for some event. Nobody was hurt but it could have been awful.

I am praying for all of you for Ike. You all need a break.

Good morning. Lori1043, I am taking your advice and not worrying about ole Ike this weekend.

We cleaned up debris and got our yard in shape most of the weekend. DH and DS left for the Saints game (Go Saints:cheer2: ) DD is at her friends house this morning. I am going to read my book:thumbsup2 and try not to think of Ike.:guilty:

Morning all. Hope everyone is recovering and ready to return to more normal life. Hopefully Ike will keep going west (not that I want anyone to have to deal with this thing!).
I wanted to share a few pictures I took during Gustav. We had moved the hummingbird feeders down so they wouldn't blow away, but that didn't stop the hummingbirds. They found them on the ground and continued their usual fight and feed battles that take place on a regular basis. I guess the storm wasn't a worry for them.

Morning everyone. My A/C in the car stopped blowing. Dh thought the best solution was to try to replace the fuse, and in the process he lost another fuse, went to Auto Zone and bought the wrong size to try and replace it...My kids are cranky, my mom wants to know when I am bringing them over, My back is out....ugh...

Glad to hear you did not have any damage w/Hannah; however I am sorry about the church

Hi ya'll. I'm still praying that Ike does not come your way.

Thanks

I am too not worrying about IKE; life has to get back to normal for me. I too am ready and relaxing in my room today!

I love the pics of the hummingbirds. I watched a few at my DS's house last week.

 to you; it will work out just relax. I know it is very frustrating though.

Hi y'all. Finally have everything up and running.:worship: I'm praying so hard that Ike continues in a westerly direction. I don't wish a storm on anyone but God knows we're not ready to do this again.

Hi neighbor; I am glad you are back. Did you get my PM?

Where are they thinking Ike will make landfall now? I was watching it yesterday and thinking, "Gee - all those people were just told they could come back and now they're going to have to leave again!"

Wherever you are, stay safe.. :)

cajunmommy, thanks, i left a message for my DB and SIL.

The hospital reminded me this weekend a little bit of after K-lots of older people with pneumonia. I think the stress of the hurricane/evacuation just suppresses thier immune systems.

Thankfully it WASN'T like K-that was awful seeing elderly people crying over starting over at 85 years of age.

Looking forward to "normal" life tomorrow-school!
Tuesday is our co-op and I am not ready!!!

Anyway- have a great week friends!

Glad to see there are some of you NOT worrying about Ike with me!

I love the hummingbird pics!

Hey Y'all,

I'm so glad to hear everyone is okay! Especially our BR girls! Has Lorie-Ms Marigny checked in yet?

I spoke too soon when I said we had cable, net & phone. It all went kaput right after posting Wednesday night. I think it was Wednesday anyway. We just got it back this evening.

Our house was packed! We had Bob's brother's family (BIL, SIL & their 2 girls)along with my SisIL's Mom & sister here until their power came on yesterday in Luling. Chris,Rickie & Alexis just left a little while ago when their power came back on. I was so happy to pay it forward. SIL's family put us up in Chauvin for a week for Katrina. I think I mentioned before that my SIL's Mom has cancer, so we were really happy to be able to help her.

Alexis has thought this whole hurricane thing was great! Having her cousins here, made it as she calls it "Alexis, Alexis, Alexis, Alexis Day!" We sure have been eating well. When BIL called & said they were coming, he asked what we needed. Bob told them meat & food. They found a Sam's & really stocked up. At the same time Chris found a Rouse's open & bought the store out. Rickie had put all his venison in an ice chest before leaving & he brought a venison roast & ground meat! We've eaten beer can chickens & grilled green onion sausage, venison burgers & roast. Black beans with sausage, and today I roasted a turkey in BIL's electric roaster. I fixed mashed potatoes and gravy too. We'll all have gained a lot of Gustav pounds! The only bad thing about that is my fridges & freezers went from empty to overflowing! If Ike should come this way, I'll be throwing food away & packing icechest again.

Lorie is in Disney, from our last check in with her. They were going early and staying at an All Star resort-I thought Movies, so of course, i was keeping my eyes open for the familiar little face of Sienna's(ones from pictures at least!) along with parents that resembled Lorie's pics. But never did:rolleyes: . They were staying there for evacuation and then heading to another resort that I cannot remember for thier "official" planned WDW trip.

It was a really cool thing to evacuate there. I think we'll have more memories from that quick getaway than some other trips we've taken.:cloud9:

If you don't mind I may post some pics from it that I took with my phone!! I forgot my camera and laptop at home, sitting next to each other!

Question for you all (NOT hurricane related!)

Of these times, what is the best to be in New Orleans, or does it matter?
mid-February (week of Pres Day)
mid-April (week of Easter)
anytime in July
first two weeks of August

Our summers here are so hot and humid that you might want to consider February or April.

Good morning ladies. Back to school once again. It sort of feels like the first day all over again. :teacher:
