Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

I've been MIA because things have just been dismal around here. DH has been working consistent 12-18 hours shifts for the past two weeks. He found out he has to interview for the lower position, so he doesn't even know if he's going to get the job yet! His interview is next week. I hope this is all overwith soon!
 You would think getting an interview done would be quick and easy. What the heck are they waiting for?
I hope it all works out quickly.

Kat - sorry about the accident. Hang in there; you can always get a head start on the wine part :rolleyes1 And you know, once you start drinking, I don't think the ankle will be a problem. At least until you get home ;)

Julie - he fell asleep? :scared1: glad it didn't do a lot of damage.

Bethany - How's Annabelle? I hope she's recovering from her ant bites.

Oh bother!!! What a pain! Day before yesterday I was in line at McDonalds and a guy hit my car. He fell asleep in the line. His car just hit the trailer hitch, so not a big deal but still UGH.

Luckily the guys insurance company is moving very quickly. I have to bring it to the body shop for the estimate today and then will take it back tomorrow after I'm done with my pre-trip errands and just leave it with them while we're away. So now this means I'm back to doing the cab fare.:rolleyes1

Lorie - I'm hoping things work out for y'all, prayers coming my friend.

Kat, of all days for this to happen. When you get to Disney, just forget about all of this and have a good time.

Lorie, I am hoping this all works out for you and Todd. I just assumed he could move from one position to the other. I guess we shouldn't assume anything:hug:

Bethany- The weather is doing just like I told you it would. :upsidedow But watch, it'll be back to upper 80's in a couple of days. The only thing reliable about New Orleans weather is that it is unreliable. Except for summer- Hot. Everyday. :lmao::rotfl:

Lorie, I actually thought of you when I saw the weather forecast. :rotfl2: I do vaguely remember reading about the temperatures jumping around down here last fall, winter, and spring. I've can't believe I've been on this thread for about a year now!

18 hour shifts?!? Seriously? At a supermarket? What could possibly be that important? :confused3 I hope he doesn't have to work two jobs though. I've done that a few times and had more than a few schedule conflicts trying to coordinate schedules between two places. I hope you get it all figured out.

Just my luck, I got rear ended in rush hour traffic this morning. Thankfully the damage was just my fender & bumper and the insurance co. for the guy who hit me is really on the ball. This just isn't what I want to be dealing with right now.:sad2:

:sad2: Good grief! I'm glad you're not hurt! I had to drive to the east bank yesterday for the doctor's appointment...the appt was for 9. Let me just say I'm glad I don't have that commute everyday! Coming out of Plaquemines is obnoxious enough for me!

She seems fine, thanks! :goodvibes

Good to hear from you! It must be hard with 2 little ones and things topsy turvy with your husband's work.

Julie - he fell asleep? :scared1: glad it didn't do a lot of damage.

Yes and this was about 3 in the afternoon! I look at it as at least he fell asleep and hit my car in line at McD's instead of on the highway where he could have been killed or killed someone else.

Luckily the guys insurance company is moving very quickly. I'll quote my dear grandmother, " Oh la la." She'd say that in her cute little Cajun accent when something didn't go as she planned.

:sad2::hug: I'm glad you're okay too!

Thank-you!

Checking in briefly....just got back from a day trip to Jackson. Yea I know I just came back from there on Tuesday; had to go back today. Not complaining just tired. :rolleyes1

Kathy girl thank goodness it wasn't too bad. I wish I was coming to Disney with you girl. HAVE FUN FOR ME!! ;)

July so true better in the parking lot instead of the street.

 to you Lorie. That is just plain crazy...if he was a manager I am quite sure he can handle the other job.

Sheryl- have a blast!!!:goodvibes

Kathy and Riesmom-

Lorie- ugh, that is a long day, but I can sympathize b/c my hubby has been doing the same, even though 4-6 hours is at home. he has been super busy.

Bethany- from this point on you never know about the weather-it's a take a day at time thing 'round here. I mean a good example is Christmas- 1 deranged year it snows, and sometimes it is cool, and I can even remember having warmer ones. All dressed in cozy, Christmas-y winter wear and tearing it off midway through the day.

We are having a time of it over here too. I am sorry to be so grumpy now and then, but I am getting VERY frustrated. I also want to finish my TR and haven't made the time.

Haley was up all night, crying her head off. About every 2 hours she woke up with extreme ear pain. I did everything I could think of-peroxide wash, tylenol every 4 hours. Nothing was making it better. I even thought about the ER b/c i was at my wits end with what I couldn't do for her-make it go away. But i knew it was probably an ear infection, if not a rupture, and that I could be at the docs at 8. So we were. She has a nasty ear infection. The doc even gave us numbing drops for her ear drum and told me we could use it except if it ruptured and drained out. About an hour after the 1st use, that is exactly what happened-so tonight should be fun if she has pain. I gave her motrin tonight. After her 1st dose of omnicef, she threw it all up-it was a LONG day. After lunch I gave her another dose to see if more food would keep it down and she handled it okay.

Tonight, as I was on my way out to pick up Chinese b/c we slept on and off all day and I am having sinus/coughing issues too (God bless Ash, who completely took care of herself today, completed her school work, AND made us lunch) I kissed Haley on the head and realized she had FEVER again.:guilty:

Not to whine too much but we also found out our health ins premiums are going up and this has us frustrated b/c it is a LOT more-like $150 more per month. I guess I should be thankful we HAVE insurance and a job, b/c by now we'd have none if Paul hadn't gotten re-employed. We are also planning for the possibility of the house NOT selling by December 31. The least expensive way to do it is for him to go get an efficiency and we can deal with the bed/furniture part with what we have. But we would be prepared to cut back on extras like Direct TV and home phone, eating out (even fast food which is not often) to not get in debt for it.

On top of that my employer hired my replacement already and my hours are getting slimmer and slimmer. I was working about 8 days a month and now I am lucky to get 4. I like it as far as life goes but our budget ain't so happy. I wish they would have just waited for my notice, which I PROMISED them at LEAST 2 weeks when I knew about the official move.

With the holidays coming up it kinda makes me unhappy. At least the kids gift is bought and we had Disney! Which I am so glad we did when we did!

Sorry for ramblin and thank you for reading-I really am appreciative of my Dis NOLA galfriends!

Lori

Lori

I hope you and Hayley feel much better today!!!

Lori - I'm sorry Haley has been so sick, especially on top of all the other things you have to stress about.

Did you all see that weather last night? I woke up at 2. I was asleep, flat in bed one second, and the next I was looking out the window. HOW I got there so fast remains a mystery. :lmao: :rotfl: It sounded like the world was blowing up. :scared: It looked pretty cool though - like Illuminations on steroids.

I went out to the living room to check on Anabelle, she was happy to see me but seemingly unfazed by the storm. This dog is weird I tell you. She is afraid of things with wheels, like skateboards and strollers, but not thunderstorms. :confused3

I have to go to the lab to get blood drawn this morning, then I'm going to work. It's nice I got to sleep in a bit again today. :) Perfect sleeping weather too. It's like Seattle out there. Chilly and misting. Just imagine this for 4-6 or more months straight and you can pretend you are there. :rotfl:

This is a fasting blood test and I have to wait 3 more hours and I'm already getting grouchy because I am thirsty and the water is just not cutting it. I really want my coffee! I'm getting a headache without it! :headache:

Good morning:goodvibes

Lori, make sure you give Ashton a big hug today for being such a sweetheart. It sounds like she really helped ya'll out yesterday. What a good kid. I hope Haley feels better today:hug:

Bethany, I hate fasting for bloodwork. I hope it all goes ok today for you:hug:

Illuminations on steroids had me laughing this morning:rotfl:

:dance3::rotfl: on the Illuminations!

I'll drink a cup of coffee for you!!!

Hey everybody. Sorry I've been MIA. Work's been a bear, then to top it off I got sick - at work - mid week. Is there anything worse?? Case of food-borne illness decided to kick in. I think y'all can fill in the gory details (wait 'til after breakfast if need be!)

I honestly hope this cold front blows away the nastiness that's seem to have settled in over us. Two fender-benders, 18hr workdays, ruptured ear drums....enough already!

Kathy - I'm leaving it up to you & Sheryl (& the WFD groupies) to drink in enough...um...pixie dust...yeah, that's it ;)...for all of us! I hope both of you come back refreshed, relaxed, & ready to share some good times! have a fabulous trip! (Oh, and if I'd lived closer, I'd save you the cab fare & offer y'all a ride to the airport. Of course, you might have to deal with a stowaway....;))

Illuminations on steroids ...not exactly what I was thinking at midnight when BOTH of the kids came stumbling into our room. I can't remember the last time the weather was severe enough to wake both of them. It was LOUD!

Got to run - I'll try to BBL

Happy weekend!

Lori – You certainly need lots of hugs and prayers. I hope Haley is feeling better today.:hug::hug:

Bethany – Love “Illuminations on steroids”!!!! Sammie was never afraid of storms or fireworks, only water and vacuum cleaners.:confused3 I can’t wait to meet Anabelle. I hate the fasting bloodwork too, hope it all turns out well.

Going to print out my boarding passes and finish up packing and running errands, bbl…….

TGIF gang....I am staying in my bed all day!

Lori hugs to you and your baby girl. I hope she feels better soon.

Kathy and Sheryl have fun on your trips.

Bethany yea I heard it then I rolled right back over. :rotfl:

Hey Y'all,
I was too wiped out last night to check in & let y'all know we arrived safely. I'm sorry! We had a good easy flight & we were at the BC by 12:15. Checked in & found out our room was ready, our groceries had arrived & then our luggage came about a half later!! We were doing the magical happy dance! :banana:I was able to unpack, put together DH's lift, so my late evening would be easier. It was great! Oh and they gave us Happy Anniversary buttons & a pink rose for me! (We didn't get to celebrate our 33rd anniv. last month, so sweet DH called & told Disney!) The only damper was when we were ready to head out to our culinary demo the sky fell! But then it slowed down & made it over there. It was drizzly, hot & steamy but we braved through it & cruised the booths for the rest of the evening. I hope all of you are well! I've already started doing a lot of eating & drinking for all of you!!:grouphug:

Kat, I'm so sorry about the car accident! :hug:You sure didn't need that right now! Prayers that it's all taken care of & out of your mind so you can come party!

Sheryl! Glad to hear from you and that your trip is off to a magical beginning! :goodvibes

Well, I made it to the lab but was getting increasingly sluggish by the minute. I just wanted to sleep. My arms felt like they were falling asleep, I had a headache, was shaking, and my lips were tingling. The lady at the lab said they were white. I suspect I was a few minutes away from passing out. I had brought a Coke with me and they made/let me stay and drink it before I left. They said my color came back immediately once I started drinking it. They said I could lay down for awhile but I felt okay once I drank the Coke. :thumbsup2 I should feel all the way back to normal once I eat something. :goodvibes

Serena - the day lounging in the bed sounds WONDERFUL!!

I was only up for about 10 minutes at 2. I checked on Anabelle and then watched the light show for a little bit and I thought I would have a hard time going back to sleep but I had no problems. :rotfl2:

Lori - soo sorry Haley is sick again. Hopefully she'll be able to shake all this illness off soon. Ashton is certainly growing up, helping out like that. to you all, I know it's really rough right now. Prayers that everything works out soon.

Goodness!! I hope you've eaten and are feeling better.

Loved the illuminations comment. We actually started having lightning off in a distance around 7, but the bad stuff didn't hit until around 11; and it was really a light show. Fish, our smaller dog, does not do well with bad weather and at 11:30 I got up and drugged her. It takes about a half hour for the medicine to kick in and she was frantic, jumping on and off the bed. I finally got her to go under the bed, the weather settled a little and the meds kicked in so it was a while before I got back to sleep. Even Smudge was scared, curling up practically in my face.

Wouldn't you know that I fell asleep about 7 last night and slept right through the show!

Sheryl - I'm so glad your vacation is off to a great start! Can't wait to party with y'all, see you tomorrow!

Bethany - OMG! You were driving feeling that way? You poor girl!

Monique - Thanks for the offer my friend! I'm all packed and ready to drink that pixie dust, in fact, we're thinking of heading out for Margaritas in a little while!

I'll check in with y'all when we are settled at SSR tomorrow, y'all be good!

Bethany - OMG! You were driving feeling that way? You poor girl!

Yes, on Lapalco. It wasn't so bad when I was driving, but I know I wasn't 100% either. I got there about 9:15 or so and they took the blood at about 9:45. That last half hour was especially not nice.

Thanks for the hug.

I can't believe you leave tomorrow!
