Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Hey....

Any updates on Alexis?

Kristina how are you feeling?

I am worried sick about Alexis and hope that everything is okay.

Lori, I hope that Haley is on the upswing.

Julie, that sucks and I hope that it gets resolved soon.

Well, you know when you wake up and you just KNOW that it is gonna be a cruddy day? Well, that was this morning. First, Sean didn't set his clock right and thought it was 5:30... no it was 6:30:scared1: :headache: Then I got to work and just felt off and on edge. Like I knew something was gonna happen... just didn't know WHAT. Well, I dropped our kids off in the Gym for PE and went to use the restroom. When I came out, there was a commotion over where I was. Logan was in the nurses office with a chicken nugget stuck in his throat, but vomiting. (He went to cough and inhaled a big chunk) The nurse insisted on calling the ambulance to take him to the hospital. Despite the pain to my pocketbook :teacher::headache: I was thankful that they were being safe rather than sorry. They made him swallow barium soaked cotton balls and that either dislodged it, or it has dislodged in the vomitting spells and cut his throat so that the barium soothed it. He is so embarrassed because everyone doctor and nurse told him to take it easy next time he eats chicken nuggets.

Kat, hope that ankle is on the mend....

Cara - How frightened you must have been not to mention poor Logan. Thank God it turned out well.

I'm so sorry! I thought I posted on the lastest. They have ruled out flu virus. They now are waiting on lab results. They are thinking she has a bacterial infection in her intestines. All of the antibiotics she was on after the appendectomy would have set this in motion. It kills off all of the bacteria & the really bads ones can take off. I'm sorry I'm not making much sense. I'm still at the hospital & Alexis is getting really cranky, I can't think right now.

Thanks all for the prayers & concern.:grouphug:

Continued prayers Sheryl...don't you dare feel bad about anything. we understand you're under pressure.:hug:

Cara OMG... poor baby and poor mama.

she still has fever but eating a bit and drinking- if she wasn't doing that I'd be dragging her in.

Cara!!! what a horrible day and scary!!!! I hope you are all alright and can relax a bit tonight. I think going to the hospital was absolutely the right thing. Interesting how they treat it.:hug:

Choking is so scary! Thank God Logan is alright. Our oldest choked one time on an onion ring. His lips were turning blue before it finally was dislodged. Onion rings were banned from our house for probably 10 years after that.

Tim was supposed to wake up Rie at 5 am yesterday because I was a little under the weather. Good thing I woke myself up at 5:45 because he forgot! Her alarm clock broke.

God Bless you all. Hospitals are a PITB for adults. They are so much worse for children. My prayers are continuing for Alexis and for Chris and for you.

Please rest.

Hey y'all!

Just a quick check-in after reading all of the troubles going on around here!

Sheryl- I'm so sorry to hear about Alexis! I hope y'all get some definitive answers soon and Alexis gets better- poor girl.

Kathy- I hope your ankle improves for your upcoming trip!

Lori- I hope Haley feels better soon!

Cara- So scary about Logan! I'm so glad he is ok- choking really scares me too. And to think such drama could occur when just eating a chicken nugget!

Julie- I hope the credit card mess gets worked out and hopefully it was just a stranger- better of course than someone you know.

We're having our own drama here right now. Not to get all into it, but DH is stepping down from his position at work and is taking a lower position, which of course means a cut in pay. I feel that I need to go back to work now in some capacity; he says no way, not until both kids are in school. I say he is being unrealistic, he says I'm being materialistic. He says he is going to get a second part-time job to make up the pay difference, but I just don't think that is going to work out. So I guess we'll see how it goes. I'm very down over the whole situation, but I know he wouldn't last much longer with the stress and stupid crazy hours. At least we'll see him more, and hopefully he'll be less stressed out now. (I'm trying to be positive....) I feel really bad for him right now too-:sad1: I'm hoping for sunnier skies over this house!

Lorie - I am so sorry y'all are dealing with this. It's such a tough balance to decide between hours at work and the stress involved and less pay but more at home time. Trying to decide what's more important is never easy, especially with two small children. I pray that the right decisions are made clear to you both.

:grouphug: Looks like we all need a little bit of this around here today:wizard:
Days like today make me very thankful for this thread and all you ladies:goodvibes

Lorie: Sorry about your drama. I hope that you find peace in your house soon. I know it is not a pleasant place to be.

Thanks Kathy. He said that this is very hard for him to do and he really needs my support right now, so I am trying not to focus on the money and am trying to be positive. He'll still be working weekends, but at least we'll see him on holidays again! And this decision will be better for his health as well (the stress was really getting to him).

Lorie - I'm sorry you're dealing with drama too!

Rie'smom - I meant to tell you that your puppy is really cute! I hope the credit situation is not a beast.

Okay I went out and bought Snow White this morning before work. The store manager of Super Walmart had to get his people to bring the display case out of the back for me. :rotfl2::rotfl: Yes folks, I was the first person to get the DVD from the Behrman Walmart. :lmao:

ANYWAYS, it has a sneak peak of the Princess and the Frog. oohhhhhhhhh I want to go see it!! It's got the St. Louis Cathedral and the streetcar in the sneak peak! :yay:

 It's good that you're seeing some bright spots like more time with your husband and less stress for him. In the end, that will mean less stress for everyone and that is worth more than $$$$. Things really do have a way of working themselves out even though sometimes it doesn't seem possible.

Lorie-he sounds like he is making a good decision for him and your family. I know a paycut is gonna hurt:eek: but don't stress YET. Give it a month or so and see how you all "fit in"- then maybe talk about extra jobs if necessary. This kids are only THIS age now and we can never go back, so IF you can work it out to stay home, than I am obviously a proponent of doing it if you can-it is rare these days for that opportunity. Most people have to have 2 incomes. I know you feel blessed to be able to be home:love: I hope it all works out fine for you all-it will.

WOW, huh, WOW- I think all of us are being bombarded!!:headache:

Haley SEEMS to be doing better. usually temp spikes at night, so we'll see. I am waitng for tylenol to wear off. Since WDW, we all have nights and days mussed up! I am actually wanting to get the move over with so we can assume a semi normal life. I am also looking forward to some quiet time just me and the kids since we will know no one really and distractions will be minimum. Sometimes I feel pulled in 20 different directions. Of course, I will be posting a couple months after the move about how much a MISS all my friends and family. Not to mention Gabbi:sad1:

Lori

:hug::hug::hug:to everyone. We all need some serious pixiedust:

My problems seem trivial compared to ya'll. Tony has some bug today, or so he claims. He went out yesterday to apply to several places, but he stayed home today with his "cold". I told him to try to find a job offshore. The money is good and I really just need some time to miss him. I had gone so far as to tell him Sunday night that he needs to move out. He said he wanted a few days to find a place to go, and I said that was a bad idea b/c I'd change my mind before he left (like last time). He got another small check from one of his dad's settlements and it's just awful to think of him blowing it on hotel rooms when it could be put to much better use around here. We agreed things have to drastically change, and if he starts slipping, it's bye bye. I just can't stand to be aggravated and stressed out every single day. It's not right.

Unfortunately it's back to the real world for me tomorrow. Here's hoping we all get a little good news and health headed our ways.

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: to all. Let's hope today is a better day for us all, especially little Alexis.

:hug:Your problems are not trivial. I hope you and Tony can work out your problems. Has he seen a therapist? If he's depressed, it can inhibit his seeking a job. Since I don't know the situation too well, I'm only guessing.

To quote a line from The Pink Panther, "Every day in every way is getting better and better." Hopefully, this will apply to all of us!!! Here's some Mickey fun:

Kat, 9 more days!!!!! Now, you can do the single digit dance:
:dancer::dancer::dancer:party:party:party:

Thanks everyone for the compliments on Reggie!!!

Hey y'all!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement. I do feel better now! Like Cara, I am so thankful to have this thread and all of you to listen to my issues...:grouphug:

I am feeling guilty too because DH waited a week to tell me because he was afraid of my reaction. Kind of makes me feel like a shrew :sad1:. I really hope I'm not that bad! He also said he wants to take that extra job to make sure he can take his family to WDW because he knows that's my "laughing place". He really is a good husband.

Oh, and Erik had his 4 month appt (and shots :sad1:) yesterday. He is just fine and weighs 17 lbs 6oz! Big boy! He's just a big ol' chub now...

Jamie- Your issues aren't trivial, they're just as important as the rest of ours! I hope you and your hubby can work things out-. I hope he finds a job soon.

Kathy- You're in the single digits now- woo hoo!!!!:cool1::banana::dance3:

Lori- I'm glad Haley seems to be improving! Pixie dust for no more sickness!:wizard:

Sheryl- I hope things are improving for Alexis as well!
