Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Speaking of being frightened of Halloween: I still close my eyes during the cemetery part of the Haunted Mansion:blush:. Things jumping out scare me.

I was telling my husband about finally getting to meet all of you at lunch on Saturday. He asked me where we were having lunch. Oops, I forgot to ask.:rotfl:
Would y'all mind if Rie and a friend join us? They want to go shopping for our WDW trip. She only has 1000 t shirts and nothing to wear;).

I don't mind at all if Rie and a friend join us! We haven't really decide on where yet, do y'all have any favorite places here?

:thumbsup2I see there is a lunch planned... could someone PM me with the details. I am not sure that I will be able to go, as Fletcher's birthday is Sunday and we are not quite sure what we are doing with that yet. Thanks

Bethany - The winery photos were awesome!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!

Thanks...I figured you might like them!

When I was younger I was terrified of POTC because of the fires in the buildings. :rotfl:

I don't mind them coming.

Cara, nobody can PM you details yet because there aren't any yet! :lmao:

We went to church this morning. It's by City Park and invariably, I get all turned around on the way home from that area. :confused3 Today we were driving all over the place. My husband said "we are looking at houses." :rotfl2:

Hi gang...it's a lazy day here for all of us. DH is in our bedroom, I'm on the couch in the living room and Aly is in her room...Kodi is walking back and forth between us.

Cara, Aly was afraid of Halloween stuff for the longest so I would definately rethink the HM and maybe Boo at the zoo. JMHO

Julie of course we don't mind if they tag along.

Lorie - I like shopping as much as eating so I'm game. :rotfl:

Kathy how did you enjoy your time with Kyle? How'd the barbecue shrimp dish come out?

Who's ready for some SAINTS football!!!! :yay:

Thanks!!! We're so busy on the weekend that I try to cram in as much as I can especially on trips to NOLA or BR.

Hey guys if you are Michael Jackson fans tickets are on sale now for his THIS IS IT movie. I tried the new orleans area and can not find any yet...the closest theatre is Perkins Rowe in BR....:headache:

Let me know if you find any in this area that I may have missed...I tried both Movieticket.com and Fandago.com.

Julie - Any ideas on where y'all would like to have lunch?

Serena - Enjoyed my time with my boy!!! We ended up going out last night so I'm making the shrimp dish tonight!

Hey y'all!

So the consensus seems to be no Boo at the Zoo for the scaredy-cat....darn, I really wanted to go! I need to borrow someone's unafraid child so I can still go! :rotfl:

Cara- So Spencer is a Halloween scaredy-cat too, huh? Glad I'm not alone...my friend looked at me like I had two heads when I told her Sienna was scared of Halloween stuff. I hope they both grow out of it soon! And when we were at Walgreens, I told her when we were leaving to just close her eyes and we would walk quickly out of the store....she closed her eyes and *sprinted* out of the door, almost taking a few people out! Yeah, just a little dramatic... Too funny about Spencer's fisrt tooth at McDonald's- McDonald's french fries ARE the wonder drug! (I sure craved them enough when I was pregnant!)

Bethany- At least the houses around City Park are pretty to look at! And now you've been Saints corrupted too, huh? :lmao:

Kathy- That barbeque shrimp dish does sound good! Details, please? :flower3: Kyle had 8 teeth by six months- wow! I hope that if Erik is indeed getting his first tooth, that the rest come quickly so we can get this over with!

Serena- I haven't heard anything about the Michael Jackson movie yet...but I'll let you know if I do!

Lorie - It's a recipe a friend gave me, BBQ shrimp fettucine, I haven't tried it yet. If it's good I'll post it here because it's super easy & quick!

Good Morning y'all!

I have a story to share!

Lorie vs. the Big Raccoon

Last night around 11:30 after Erik had his last feeding as I was drifting off to sleep, I heard a ruckus in the backyard. *please note, I was alone because DH was doing inventory at work and got home late* So I looked out of the window and saw a big raccoon scurry across the backyard.

My first thought was to go defend my beloved turtle, Tortimer, because turtles are raccoon snacks. So downstairs and outside I went, in the dark, in my nightgown, with no contacts (and therefore I could barely see), holding a broom in my hand. As soon as I entered the backyard, I saw the evil raccoon jump out of my pond (oh no, my goldfish! :sad1:) and scurry to the corner of the yard, which has dense foliage.

I went first to check on the turtle, who was all tucked in his shell and terrified, so he'd been obviously disturbed. So I thought, "yeah, this raccoon is GOING DOWN!!". I went the corner of the yard and started blindly whacking the foliage with the broom. And out sprung the GIANT raccoon at me, up close and in person. He was absolutely huge- he resembled a large hairy fat dog. I screamed, threw the broom, and ran to the backdoor. The raccoon ran under my house. I thought "oh, uh, uh, he's not living under my house", grabbed the hose and started spraying the raccoon under the house.

So then I thought "It is late, I am in my backyard in my nightgown, I can't see anything, and I am trying to spray a raccoon under my house with a waterhose..."

So I went inside and hoped that the raccoon made a hasty retreat. And I would be sure to give DH an earful in the morning. ;)

I hope all of you had an uneventful night...:rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl: Lorie, I hope the raccoon has moved on to another yard! Glad Tortimer is ok. How are the goldfish?

I'm afraid there were some goldfish casualties. :sad1: This is why we stopped buying the fancy goldfish and koi (there have been raccoon attacks before) and started using cheap feeder goldfish. No fish are immune to those evil raccoons though.

I'm sorry about the goldfish too- darn raccoon.

Bad news- Tim asked me to stay home this weekend. He is a sugar cane farmer and they start their busy season next week. That means that except to say, "Hello" and "Good-bye", I won't see him until Christmas. He really doesn't ask too much of me and I do miss him during this time of the year. It's almost like he doesn't live at home.

Kat, I'll finish binding your planner and mail it to you. I'll send it priority.
Is the address in the emergency contact list where you want me to send it?

I am so bummed that I won't get to meet y'all this weekend. :sad1:

Off to the doctor's office- just a check-up, thank goodness!

Happy Monday ladies.

Lori - girl you are too funny... :rotfl: I would have done the same thing though.

Awe man, I am as well however I do understand. Maybe next time.
