Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Sheryl, I'm feeling better everyday. Yesterday, I think I did too much and I was hurting last night. It has been exactly one week since my surgery. I might try to go to the grocery today, but later on.

Good to here.... :)

Kodi is so cute. Do you dress her up for all the holidays? I seem to remember a picture of her with MG beads on. :goodvibes My dog would just try to eat whatever I put on her at this point. :lmao:

Yes mam I sure do....I love dressing her up. She's my sweetie.

Ms Annabelle is a sweetie too. Yes you can dress her up too.

Thank y'all so much for the birthday wishes, y'all are the best!:grouphug:

These precious pups are killing me!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Terry - Kodi is TOO STINKING CUTE!!!!!!!!

Bethany - I love Annabelle's name, it seems to suit her.:goodvibes

Hey y'all!

Sorry I've been MIA so much.... I won't lie, adjusting to two kids has been hard, harder than I thought it would be! It seems like every moment of my day (and night) is consumed, taking care of someone or cleaning something. I just have to get used to it I suppose. Some days are good, others just crazy. They are actually both sleeping right now at the same time- a real treat! Too bad I have that pile of dishes in the sink...and that load of laundry to fold from today's poop explosion from Erik (he got DH this time- lol!).

We've all been having some minor issues as well. I went to the dr today and my incision is a little infected, so I got a prescription for that. I've also been having bad headaches as well from my hormones shifting back to normal.

Erik has been having digestion problems- spitting up, bad gas, poop explosions (sorry TMI, but it is what it is...:rotfl2:). His pediatrician blew off my concerns, saying all babies spit up and have gas, but it think it is a bigger issue than that- maybe a milk allergy or reflux. The ped he saw is actually the backup ped because our regular one is on maternity leave, but I did get an appt with our regular one when she gets back in a few weeks, so hopefully she can give me a second opinion. It is so hard seeing my baby in pain when he's not feeling well...:guilty:

Sienna has been adjusting to our "new life" with baby brother. She has some good days, and some bad ones. I think her age and the upset in routine has a lot to do with it as well. On a good note (although somewhat inconvenient for me at this time), she's been showing interest in the potty for the last two weeks! She still has a long way to go potty-wise, but at least she is finally (!) trying!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY!!!! :cake::bday:party::drinking1 Hope you have a wonderful day!

Bethany- So glad you finally made it here and are all moved in! And that puppy is too cute! :dogdance:

Mary- Glad you are feeling better. Take it easy...

Sheryl- Sorry you're not feeling well....have fun tonight and enjoy not cooking! The Columns is just gorgeous- love it there!

Terry- Kodi is precious!! :cloud9:

Lori- Sorry about the hair fiasco...you'll be looking back on this soon and laugh, right?

Sorry if I missed anyone- I am far, far away from a clear and organized head!

Kathy, how was PF Chang's today?

Lorie, you might already know about this, but after the baby finishes feeding keep him upright for about 20 minutes. My Erica had the same problem and this helped a lot. What also helped her was putting her on rice cereal when she was one month old. I guess it was heavy enough or absorbed acid in her stomach??? I don't know, but it worked.

Lorie! Good to "see" you! Sorry to hear things are a bit rough.

I went grocery shopping at Super Walmart today. :scared1: It's got a LOT of food and it all seems really cheap to me. ($2 for cheese?!? Bombdiggity! :rotfl:) Then you get to the checkout. AHHHHHH! :headache::rotfl2:

Mary - We had a great time at Changs's!! My stomach is feeling normal so I chanced it and got my favorite dish, the lettuce wraps. So far so good!

Lorie - I know how hard it is to see your baby in pain. Mary's suggestions sound like good ones to me. Hooray for Miss Sienna showing potty interest!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips- I'm willing to try anything at this point! He is on his third kind of bottle, and he does this with either breast milk or formula, which is why I was thinking either reflux or a milk allergy. His ped just said he has an immature digestive system and it will get better with time and to not worry about it. Hard to do when he is obviously so uncomfortable. He has gained some weight, but not a whole lot- he went from 50th percentile in weight to 25th. The ped said to not worry about that because he did at least gain some weight. Sorry, but it does concern me....:confused3

This always happens to me too- I think I'm getting some great deals and it will be a cheap trip, then I get to checkout and nearly pass out, handing over Sienna my first born as payment...

You know what worked- bribery with cheap jellybeans (leftover from Easter :rotfl:- no other candy in the house). Who knew?

Oy...I hadn't even considered the $$ amount at the checkout. Just the lines make me go :scared:

I got a postcard today from Honda...my license plate is in! :woohoo:

:woohoo: now your little car can have a pelican on it! The checkout lines at Walmart are ridiculous! One time, there was a store manager and about 4 employees standing around the cashier station and 4 lines open total on a busy busy Saturday. We had already been waiting a good half and hour and still had a while to go. A lady behind us took her very full basket to the station and gave it to the manager and told him she would not be back and would shop elsewhere since it was crazy that they could not hire people to handle the crowds.

Hi Mary! Are you starting to feel better? I sure hope so!:wizard:

I don't have to cook tonight! Not that I don't enjoy cooking, because I do. But we have my niece's rehearsal dinner tonight and it's at The Columns on St Charles. I'm excited because I've never been there & just want to see the place. The wedding Saturday is going to be a St Patrick's and then the receptions at Southern Oaks. I'm worried about the parking at St. Pat's but we'll get to check that out tonight. Going downtown with a side-ramp van can be a real pain sometimes. I'm not complaining though, before the van, I'd be dressed up & having to lift & move DH into the old van. So that's right! I'm happy we have the van & get to go!! :goodvibes

Kristina, See that I corrected my negative thinking all in one shot! :lmao:

Bethany, She's too cute!

I really liked Columns on St. Charles. I went to Sean's high school reunion there. At the time, I wasn't much into eating Louisiana foods, but what I did eat was good. Hope you had fun.

I am glad that you are starting to feel better. Take it slow and steady and you will be back to 100% in no time.

 I know that two children is a big adjustment. After a while it will become old hand. I think that Mary gave you some great advice as far as ways to help the little guy. Bribing with candy was the way that I got Spencer potty trained, I am not going to lie. It worked the best of anything I tried with any of the three.

I think we have some good news to share. Looks like we have Section 8 renters very interested in M&D's house. They are relatives of one of the ladies that lived in the house while taking care of Mom. I had no idea the house could stay on the market while being rented or we would have done this a long time ago.:upsidedow
:dance3: awesome! also a big Happy Birthday to you!

Kathy- glad you are feeling better. Just in time for a busy weekend!

Bethany- happy you and Annabelle(cute name) are settling in. Sorry you have to go back to NYC so soon-it woulda been nice in a few months-like over thanksgiving!

OK- so I really messed my hair up tonight -which is why I am still up. I TRIED to save money(hahahaha) and fill in my roots-BIG FREAKIN mistake- my hair was like orange-just at the roots- so I sent hubby out for just dying it all over again0ugh... It is frying my head as I type. I am sooo mad at myself for wanting to save a few bucks. Just spend it already!

On top of that, I am dying the "flowers" costumes green- for Alice in Wonderland-DD11 is a daisy. The dye they gave me turned some things green/gray and some things a pretty green(almost a dark deep shade of sage)- I rinsed and rinsed and then washed and dried.

Gotta go do that to my head-all for about an inch of growth that was driving me nutty- but I wasn't looking forward to 5 hours in the salon to fix it. Taking matters into my own hands? very time consuming and pricey!

And stinky and gross-Lori
:scared1: sorry about your hair. I hope that you got it fixed. I am having second thoughts about ever coloring mine.

Where is this summer going? Only a month left until it is time to back to school. Not quite ready yet, but somehow when the time comes, I am ready.

TGIF NOLA!

Well i am off to the dr office today for my annual checkup.....i sure hope my chloresterol has improved...

Today is DD's last day at UA's summer camp. Have to go to their end of session program. She's all excited.

Other than that....today should be quiet.

Enjoy your day ladies.

Morning NOLA.

Kathy I'm so sorry I missed your birthday. I hope it was a great one. :flower3:

TGIF! This week seemed to go by very fast for us. I think it was just a very busy week. I got Kelsie's proofs back yesterday. She took her Senior pictures on Tuesday. They took fourteen pictures and we actually agreed on which ones we liked best. I can order up to four poses but I think we'll just do the two we really like. One of the cap and gown and the other in the drape.

We're always so late seeing movies. I always have good intentions of going to the theater but somehow we never get there. Anyway, we just watched Sistershood of the Traveling Pants and Transformer. I loved the pants movie and just rented the second one which we'll watch today. The kids want to go see Transformer II so we rented the first one so we would know what's going on. I actually liked that movie which I didn't think I would.

Hey y'all,

We had a good time last night. St Patrick's is a beautiful, but what a pain parking was. Wearing heels for any amount of time is bad enough for me, but then walking a block on New Orleans bumpy brick sidewalks is killer. But the wine at the Columns helped a lot! The Columns was so pretty. The food was just okay, but that's typical for those types of events.

Lorie, You'll be happy to know that my Godchild's DH was a history major & took some history courses. So it was mandatory that we go check out the Columns Bar on a "Architectural Adventure"! ;)

I'm getting a new prescription today, so hopefully I'll stop itching.

I'm sad because yesterday was my last day to have Alexis. Chris has her starting camp on Monday. I'm going to miss seeing that sweet face everyday.:sad1: With the surgery next week, I feel like summer is officially over.

Lorie, I'm sorry things have been crazy for you! I wish I could say or do something to help. I will throw in my 2 cents on Erik's tummy troubles. You know when something is not right! Don't let the dr keep you from trusting your insticts. I had to change pediatricians because the one I had wouldn't listen to me. She too had pain & "explosions" ( I do know what you mean there) and it just didn't improve. After dealing with it for way too long, I changed dr's, of course to find out what I suspected all along... She was lactose intolerant. So just trust those Mommy instincts! I'm glad Sienna is showing some potty interest. I know how long you've been waiting on that!

Tricia, That's great that you & Kelsie were able to agree on pics! :goodvibes She sounds like a really lovely, sweet girl!

Kat, I'm glad you were able to eat yesterday! :goodvibes

Well I've got to run, getting in one last hair cut & color before the thing. Other than going to the dr to have stitches removed, I'm not supposed to get in a car for 6-8 weeks! Do y'all think I'll be totally stir-crazy by then or what?! :scared::upsidedow

Have a good Friday friends!:grouphug:

Today was my lucky day... I went to the PO Box and a PIN for FREE DINING was awaiting me :dance3: I called Disney from the post office parking lot, I was so excited. I had hoped that the Disney Visa would do free dining again this year, and grateful they did! And amazing, but my DH has all the sudden started to ask where we are eating... at this point I have no idea. I will probably be asking ya'll for help soon enough, I have to make my reservations next month.

Awww Sheryl, I know you are gonna be missing Alexis, but look at it this way.. after your surgery you will be able to enjoy her more since you should be pain free :thumbsup2

Wow, Tricia.. you were able to come to an agreement over senior pictures.. that caused War World III in my house. I went to see Transformers II Monday... it was better than I thought it was going to be. I haven't seen the first one yet even though my boys went to the theater and we have it on DVD... maybe next tiime it is on, I will sit down and watch it.

That's AWESOME!!!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo: If I got that I would be really, really tempted!

I move here and everyone got quiet. What have I DONE?!? :confused3
I'm guessing everyone is just busy with summertime activities or personal issues. I know I'm not around because of my newest addition and the fact that my brain is mush now. My posts would be stream-of-consciousness mumbo jumbo.

So what is our headcount for tmrw's shingding?
I'm still trying to decide if I can swing tomorrow or not. Due to Erik's recent digestive issues, y'all would have to wear hazmat suits if we came. :rotfl: DH says I should go, and if disaster occurs, just leave. My good friend who had a baby two days after me said no way would she be able to do social events with two little ones just yet (which is kind of how I'm feeling). I want to see y'all though! Ugh, my addled brain can't think clearly and decide.

Evening Y'all,

poc, Congrats on the free dining! :goodvibesn That's awesome!

I'm sorry I won't be with all of you tomorrow!:sad1: I hope everyone has a good time.

I know I enjoyed meeting & hanging with Bethany today!! :goodvibes Of course I drug her along on my fav errand, grocery shopping. Even more fun with someone who gets so excited over the price of cheese!;)
