Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Y'all aren't going to believe this, cause I'm in shock myself. DH booked BCV for Thursday. This Thursday!! Just 3 days, just us & we're taking Alexis. At first I was thrilled, but now I'm sort of freaking out. Airfare is $354 each, so I guess we're driving. I've got a lot to get done!
Woo Hoo!!!! :cool1::woohoo::banana::dance3: How exciting!!! I know y'all will have a blast!
This Thursday?! I'm such an OCD planner my head would just pop off! :rotfl: $354 for airfare?- Yeah, I'd be driving too! Roadtrip!

I gave up on the lemon bundt cake- I'm just too tired and sore. It'll be the first thing I make when I can get back into the kitchen. Until then, I'll just have to bring myself to enjoy Brocato's- sigh...;):lmao:

Paul did this for me a couple years ago for Disneyland-but it was a month notice and I freaked!!! THREE days!!!! You are gonna have soooooooo much fun!!!
Alexis must be thrilled!!!

BTW- thanks for the info, we are gonna see what happens this week first before we look into anything else. We WILL be calling you if we decide to look into it!

Lori

Lorie, I'm happy you decided to "settle" for Brocato's!

It's a short trip, so packing shouldn't be too tough. I am freaking out a bit about dining. DH somehow managed to get the Akershus Princess breakfast, but didn't try for anything else. I'm getting ready to make a call.

Lori, :grouphug:to you, husband, and daughters.

Terry, I am so glad you had a great time on your trip. I also can't wait to hear about it.

Sheryl, this must be a dream come true for your: Disneyworld and Alexis. What a good time ya'll are going to have!:cool1:

Lorie, you deserve a treat from Brocato's too!

Who is this Brocato you speak of? I must know. :lmao:

Lorie- Hang in there! Only 2 more days now! Well, really like 1.5 or so...

Lori- I cannot wait until you decode all these cryptic messages! I seem to have lost my decoder ring among my boxes.

Sheryl- That is awesome! You will have a great trip! But you know you better be gentle on that back of yours or Kat is gonna fuss at you! And I do expect a full report upon your return. ;) And I love the Beach Club.

Terry- It's good to see you back! I am glad you had such a great time! Again, I am expecting a trip report. ;)

Jamie- Your WDW touring style sounds a lot like mine! Well, it does unless it's mid-August. I slow down oh-so-slightly at that time of year. It's a weebit on the warm side.

19 more days! I'm going into Manhattan in a bit to go to FedEx to try mailing this paperwork again. We didn't use them the first time because it's an hour away. I think we might look at cars while we are out that way.

OMG!:dance3: :cool1::cool1: The Good Lord must really want us to have fun. I was able to get dinner adr's for each day!!! Yachtsman, Cali Grill & FF! Wooohoooo! Couldn't get anymore character things, but I am HAPPY!!!

Sounds AWESOME. We want food porn! (and none of this silly salad business - I can't stand when I'm trying to find info on restraunts and I get a review "they had a great ceasar salad" or "you have to try the ham sandwich" - blech! what about the REAL FOOD!?!?! :headache: - sorry, i'll calm down now. :rolleyes1 by all means, if you love salad, please, order the salad - just not at the steakhouse ;) )

Sheryl- Wow, you scored some good eats there! If I weren't a little bit incapacitated, I'd make you let me tag along! ;)

Bethany- Brocato's is a little shop in my neighborhood that sells wonderful Italian sweet treats- gelato, spumoni, cannoli, cookies, etc. They have a wonderful pastry case too, which is where DH will be headed. They originated in the French Quarter ages ago (and were located where Croissant D'or is now, just a little trivia for you) and moved to Mid-City years ago. Definitely a must do when you get here!

Sheryl, you did GOOD!

Thanks Lorie! I'm going to need a lot of help in a few weeks lol! At least I am moving to a place where I have a thread full of fantabulous people to help me out!
I'm sitting in the middle of Times Square. I should play tourist and take some photos... Since I only have 4 weeks left to take NYC photos....

We've never been Cali Grill before. I'm excited but also worried maybe I shouldn't have done this one with a 6 yo. She's quiet & pretty well behaved in restaurants.

Kat, I know Cali one of your favs, did I make a mistake?

I promise to do food porn & you don't have to worry I may have a side salad but I won't be having salad at a steakhouse!

Thanks guys for all of the well wishes...we really did enjoy ourselves. It is sooo much more fun when they are older and you can enjoy the fast rides with them. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed seeing Disney through a small kid's eyes but this was even better I think.

TRIP REPORT:

Okay we left for the airport on Thursday at 5:30 for a 7 am flight...all went well and we arrived at Disney about 12 CST. This was my 1st time not checking bags...I loved it; straight on and off the plane without worrying about luggage! :thumbsup2 We checked in (our room was ready; a room facing the pool) and headed to Animal Kingdom. This was a laid back day for us... tired from the day before with the end of school events as well as awaking so early. So we enjoyed the day at a SLOW pace. the only ride we rode was the Safari...the darn kid did not want to ride ME nor RR's...I was like what's up with you :confused3; but it was all about her and me having fun right. We enjoyed the parade for the 1st time, drank frozen lemonade, ate barbecue, shopped and walked in the rain. (It rained off and on lightly the majority of the day.) Once the park closed we headed back to the hotel for some Arcade fun then dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe'...we did not have a reservation however it seems that if you go early you are more lucky to get in. :yay:Yay for us. We thought it was a hoot! "Ketchup anyone??? :lmao:" we then retired to our room for remainder of the evening.

Onto Friday. We decided to go to MK and arrived at 9:20, we missed rope drop but o well...we went with the flow. We ate breakfast at the sleepy hollow; she had a mickey head waffle and I had a funnel cake. We then headed to the rides! We rode Splash Mntn and BTM over and over...I was so drenched but it was so warm it dried off quickly. She had her rain coat on so she did not get wet. It really pays to get to the parks early because you get to ride so many times before noon. We were also able to ride HM, PP, speedway, Mickey's Philharmagic, Barnstormer and the Railroad!!! WHEW We ate and ate all day from popcorn, churro's, turkey leg, mickey head ice cream, lemonade slushes, etc. We were so pooped we could not make it to see the fireworks so we headed back to the hotel for the night. We showered and rubbed our feet with peppermint lotion I found at Target..man that felt good!

Saturday I awoke feeling my age. My feet and legs were screaming what the HECK are you doing. So I decided to stay in and let her rest until 10 or 11. I sat on the patio and read my book while she slept. She awoke disappointed that I didn't wake her up earlier...we finally got out of the room and out to the bus stop for Noon to head to Epcot. Man I must say that is the HOTTEST park, maybe it’s because there isn't much shade. We were able to ride test track and Soarin about 3 times each, Finding Nemo and Spaceship Earth. We ate at our favorite restaurant in Mexico then headed back to the hotel so we could come back later for a few more rides, we had fast passes for Soarin and Test track, and the night time show which we had never seen. We took an hour and a half nap then headed back for about 7. We rode TT and Soarin then ate dinner and by then it was time for the show. All I can say is WOW. That show is awesome….I taped it. I thought Fantasmic and wishes were extraordinary but this show was FANTASTIC. We waited until the park cleared then walked to the bus; that was also a good idea. There were only a few people waiting. Yet another good day for us. :thumbsup2

Sunday arrived with both sadness and excitement; sadness because we were having so much fun and would have to leave that night. Excitement because we were heading back to MK. We dropped our bags at the bell desk and headed to MK. We arrived in time to see rope drop!!!! :yay: We then ate breakfast again at Sleepy Hollow then raced to BTMR and Splash Mountain. We rode those a few times, got fast passes then Speedway, Buzz Haunted Mansion, Peter Pain, ate lunch then returned to SM and BTMR and then we ended the day with dd being sketched by an artist. Man those guys are good! We ate one last mickey head, bought some fudge and said goodbye to MK! :sad1:

We headed to the Hotel to wait for the ME transportation to the airport. Our flight was non-eventful and we arrived home without any hassle.

As you can see we really had fun. It was the best 4 days and I will cherish them for years to come.

No way, it's loud in there, she'll have a ball! We were disappointed in it the last time we went but we're going back especially for the sushi. The flatbreads are excellent too! The view is incredible and you've got to see Wishes from the balcony!

I get teary eyed just thinking of it, it's my favorite thing in all of WDW! Sounds like an awesome girls only getaway, I'm so happy for you, you deserved a great time!:thumbsup2

Terry, That sounds like a wonderful trip! I'm very happy for you that y'all had a good time! How was the food at Whispering Canyon? Sounds like something A would enjoy.

I haven't read up yet, but am looking very forward to reading Terry's TR!!!!

Rip a peice pf my heart out-my sister AND her neice both told me this same thing that Gabbi(DN7) said this past weekend. Gabbi spent the night out at a cousins on her step dads side and one cousin asked her if she could live anywhere she wanted, in the whole world, where would that be. Gabbi said she would live in Texas, b/c that was "where her Nana was gonna be".:sad2::guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty::sad1::sad1::eek::crazy2::faint::(:duck::worried:. This is the child I am very close with. She is like my 3rd. She LOOKS like she could be my 3rd. Both me and DH would take her in a a split second without a thought. This is also my sisters kid who may be living in my present home-if it all works out.

I truly have been in "acceptance" mode and even slighly excited about a new chapter in our lives. Good things are happening to us, even if they drag us away from here. As long as our family is together, I can handle it , and handle it well. This just made me so sad.

I have even been thinking about getting fleur de lis stuff for my new house, den area probably, (b/c my kitchen is all cute and I like it), and making myself get "Goodnight NOLA". I have a couple cool NOLA pics from our last move to Texas, one of Evergreen, where my dads side lived for a while-not in the big house, we were NOT wealthy, even then:laughing:, and one of St Louis Cathedral on a slate-roof tile thing.

anyway, i will read up in a bit.

Hello all. We are home, well Jack and I are. We decided to head home so Chad could fish in peace. I forgot what it is like to spend that much time on the water with a 6 year old.
It was hot and buggy and Jack was done pretty fast.
Caught lots of fish and apparently Chad has caught a ton more without us there. I dont think he is coming home till Wednesday.

On the upside, I did get to hit Tastee donuts.. home of the kastleburger before I left today. I got my Kastleburger fix, Im good to go for awhile lol.

Gotta go catch up now.

Glad you all had fun!
