Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Ive heard about Grimaldis would love to come up there just to try it.. yup thats the foodie coming out in me.

Yes girl , I love camping! A princess who loves to camp .. who knew???
I dont sleep on the floor though that is what an Aero bed is for lol. Its like being in my own bed.
Ive even camped in WDW for 10 nights woo hoo.. it was fun! Not in the heat though.. only in the cool months .
This will be it for us and camping till fall, its getting too hot .

Their pizza...I don't go often enough because it's about 1.5 hours from me; but OMG when I do go...it's not hard to eat a whole pie between two people. (They don't sell slices...just whole pies). It seems like it melts in your mouth. OK I think I might go this weekend. Just because.

I don't know how to camp. It's a mystery. :confused3

Lori do yall camp?

We love to go to the state park in Madisonville.

Are s'mores involved?

You think I could make those using my gas stove?

s'mores are always involved as are other camping treats like powdered donuts lol.. and maybe some adult beverages.

I think s'mores on natural gas would be nasty.. gotta be over wood.

There is a good pizza place in Westwego, but I can't remeber the name of it... I can get you there though... probably not even close to the pizza of topic though

Do I sense a dis camping trip in the future...lol Have fun Jen!!!!! I hope that Jack has fun too:wizard:

Umm, we go about 1, maybe 2x per year. We go in a tent and my max is 3 nights, Paul's max is 2 times a year. We don't go to all that trouble for a night or 2! he is more the hotel kinda camper. We stay in cabins if we go more than 2 hours away!

I grew up camping every where we went on vacation. I guess that was how my parents could afford to vacation with a family of 6! But I cherish those memories and have often wished for a camper. My hubby is just not that into it.

Is the one you are talking about the one that has the water playground and nature center? That one is nice.

I was thinking that too!- we could acclimate the non camping Dis'ers to a cabin?? They have A/C and kitchens....;)
, ohh and bathrooms too:laughing:.

Umm, Camping ALWAYS involves sticky s'mores! DEFINITE little white donuts. It involved pork n beans when I was a kid, but we don't like those-so we brng mac n cheese!

We have done s'mores in the firepit in the backyard and even in our woodburning fireplace on a rainy cold night.

Oh, and you gotta fish, even if you don't catch a thing and use corn for bait, and hafta play in the dirt too(haha) with the kids.

Hammocks are a must.

LOL thats funny. I didnt grow up camping .. def grew up with the hotel gene. My parents dont get it to this day.. why i love camping so much. Thank you Girl Scouts.

It is because the is the only time we are really together as a family.. no tv no computers.

We ride bikes, we hike , we cook, we boat and we talk all night. Once the kiddo hits the bed, we have a drink or two.

Dont get me wrong.. I love a five star resort... but for family time, we do our best loving at a camp ground.

We have been looking at a buying a camper or RV for yrs, but so far have been very happy with tent camping. We have free access to a camper so if need be we grab it and go.

Mo's Pizza. Avenue D I think? or Avenue H?

Hey Y'all, Where y'all at??? (Bethany that is N'awlins speak at it's finest)

Where is everyone today?

Lorie, I'm glad you're getting your closet!! Sienna is so cute & funny. :lovestruc How are you feeling?

Bethany, Thanks for the tips, but she already has 2 pizza places planned. I don't know the names but one is supposed to be "true italian" and another NY style pizza. We'll take care of your non-foodie attitude once you get down here! It is all about the food. ;)

Kat, How are you feeling? I hope the pain is better! Were you able to go to work yesterday?

Lori, Angelina hasn't heard anything on the job front either. :sad1: Enjoy Disney on Ice! I wish I was going, I could really use a Disney fix. I feel ya on that sucked dry feeling!

Jenny, Angelina did one Girl Scout trip & said never again! So I guess there are princesses & then there are prissy princesses! The girl did inherit some things from her mother. Have fun!

Mo's Pizza is on Ave H.

I just finished sprinkling cayenne pepper & pepper flakes all over my potted plants. The da*@ squirrels keep digging up my herbs & veggies! :headache:

Good Morning!

Happy Birthday Mary! :dance3:pixiedust::cake::bday:party:

He's hanging the drywall as I type!:woohoo: I just hope the wall texturing guy can come soon so this project can be finished! I'm feeling okay, just a bit more discomfort. The baby is still very active, and he's so big now that whenever he moves or kicks, it hurts pretty bad! I have no idea how I'm going to survive another 4 1/2 weeks...:sad2: (If he doesn't decide to come sooner, of course...)

Well, I have more money curses. I went to use DH's car to pick up lunch for everyone yesterday, and DH tells me that, by the way, the AC in his car isn't working. :headache: He didn't want to tell me and get me upset. So I called the car shop and it goes in Tuesday morning. AND the contractor noticed that we have a sagging joist upstairs when he was working yesterday. It is underneath the bathtub upstairs. So he would have to tear down the ceiling underneath it (in the dining room downstairs), jack up the joist, reinforce it, and rebuild the ceiling that was torn out. Ugh. Would be $$$ and a mess to repair. Oh well, I'll put it on the list.

I'm feeling much better and I was able to go to work yesterday. I still feel like a truck hit me, guess it'll take a while to get back to normal.

I have to make yet another trip to the bank, an unauthorized withdrawal of $250 was made on my acct yesterday.

HAVE A GREAT DAY MARY !!!

Lorie, Are you prepared for little Erik? to arrive sooner? Judging the way you're feeling, it sounds like he could definitely arrive sooner!

I'm so sorry about the car & especially the house! Ack! That sucks.

Glad you're improving, just take it easy!

 $250 out of your bank acct! That is freakin scary!

No, I'm not ready! DH keeps talking about all of these projects he wants to do before the baby comes, pushing it all the way until late May. I keep telling him, NO, the baby can, and probably will, come sooner, so he needs to finish up all work in the next two weeks at the latest! I am thinking he'll be here sooner too by the way I'm feeling (and by how big I am already! :scared1:).

And another bad luck woe- I just went to use my car and saw a crack in the windshield. :headache::headache::headache: Dh neglected to tell me this too (he was the last to use the car). He said "oh, so THAT was that popping noise I heard on I-10..." Anybody know anything about windshield repair?

Kathy- $250? That IS very scary! So sorry you have to deal with that. It is a reminder to me to make sure I check our account every day (I am bad about that).

Hey, thanks for the birthday wishes. :) We are having dinner at Stella! tonight. I've been wanting to try it for awhile now.

Yes, we all had better check our bank accounts carefully. With the economy the way it is and people losing jobs, crime will go up. I'm glad you caught it in time Kathy.

Lorie, did Sienna come early? I agree with Sheryl, sounds like little Erik wants to arrive early:goodvibes
I hope you find a glass repair company. I keep hearing a commercial on the radio for one, but I can't remember the name. Sorry, that's of no help I know. I will try to think of it.

I hope you have a nice dinner!:)

No, Sienna did not come early. I had a scheduled c-section with her because she was breech at almost 39 weeks, and I wasn't effaced, dilated, or anything. She had not even dropped. She looked like she was quite happy where she was and wasn't going anywhere anytime soon! She didn't give me all of the aches and pains and discomfort like I am having now either. I tell you, this pregnancy is so very different than the one with her!

I check my account every morning first thing. It turned out to be an innocent mistake made by a bank teller assisting an elderly woman in Shreveport. Dealt with that and opened up Kyle's first checking account!

I haven't read back to catch up but did see poor Lorie is having more issues,.

Lorie, I just read what Sienna said about the mess.:rotfl: That cracked me up.

Lori, aren't s'mores one of the best tasting things ever:lovestruc

Hey everybody!
Hope your last 24 hrs have been better than mine... Warning! Vent ahead!

Came home @ lunchtime yesterday to find the area under the veggie bins in the fridge full of water. Cleaned it out, and DH was able to fix it (we think) after a long evening at the ball parks last night. I'm scared to go back and look.

On top of that worry, I had a client at work (I'm trying to be nice here) call just as I was trying to push the kids out of the door to get to baseball. He questioned my integrity by calling me a liar, saying I wasn't following through on a project, threatened to pull a major account because of it & report me to my operations manager! :headache::mad: Can you say L I V I D ?!?!?

He was trying to save face in front of a fellow client that he's supposed to be helping us with by "leaning" on me to get the job done (despite the fact that they're the ones dragging their feet). Let's just say this client has lost all respect with me.

And y'all know what happens when Cajun women get mad.... Let's just say it wasn't pretty!

It did get a wee bit better this morning, as I was able to make better than expected progress on the project. Then, I got to go scoop about 400 scoops of ice cream at the kiddos Banana Split day today! So much ice cream that we broke a scoop!

So - is it 5 o'clock yet? I'm seriously in need of a glass of wine or a margarita or some major chocolate! Guess I'll have to wait until after the kiddos get off the school bus. Wouldn't look so nice if mommy showed up sloshed!

Y'all have a great weekend everybody! DS2 makes his 1st Communion tomorrow, so we have a crazy weekend ahead.

Lorie - YAY on the closet! Too cute on Sienna's comments.

Got to run - school bus is on it's way!
